My Dominant Contract Husband Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 735 Let’s Work Together (7)
It had been a long time since she last drove, and Dong Xin Yan felt a bit rusty. Moreover, the car wasn’t her small Audi but Gu Ningyi’s luxury car, so she was scared of scratching it. She drove even more cautiously, and by the time she got home, two hours had passed.
Dong Xin Yan found a parking spot at the door and wanted to back the car in. But whether she turned left or right, she just couldn’t get it in. Frowning, she couldn’t help it.
Suddenly, the car window was tapped. Reflexively, she looked up, and there stood Mr. Dong next to the car, his face stern as he said to her, "Turn the wheel fully to the left, quickly!"
Dong Xin Yan was taken aback and then realized what he meant. She quickly turned the wheel fully to the left, and the car slowly backed in.
Mr. Dong spoke again, "Half a turn back, yes, all the way back... Turn a quarter to the right, good, back straight, okay, stop!"
Dong Xin Yan parked the car steadily, turned off the engine, opened the door to get out, and then walked around to the back door, opening it to take out all the bags inside before closing the door again.
Mr. Dong stood in front of the car, looking at it for a while, then turned his gaze to Dong Xin Yan, causing her heart to tremble slightly.
It was clear at a glance that this car wasn’t hers, so he could probably guess whose it was.
She stood there somewhat anxiously, waiting for Mr. Dong to speak, but he just glanced at her and said nothing, walking straight toward the house door.
Dong Xin Yan let out a small sigh of relief, but her heart was still hanging high.
Mr. Dong’s face didn’t look good...
When she entered the house, Dong Xin Yan changed into slippers in the hallway, took a light breath, and with a smile tugging at her lips, she brought the gifts forward, speaking softly, "Dad, I bought some coats and health products for you. Oh, and the tea you like. Take a look."
As she spoke, she began to take things out of the bags, but Mr. Dong snatched them up with one hand and tossed them onto the nearby sofa, not even giving them a glance.
Dong Xin Yan pursed her lips, lowered her gaze, and her voice dropped, "Dad, I’m sorry for taking so long to come back and worrying you."
"So you do know that I’d be worried?" Mr. Dong’s expression was stern, a hint of disappointment and frustration in his voice, "For a man, you ran off to that unfamiliar United States for more than half a year. You really are..."
Dong Xin Yan lowered her head even more, "Dad, I’m sorry."
Full of words ready to chastise and scold, yet seeing his daughter safe and sound standing before him again, all the anger seemed to dissipate.
Mr. Dong found himself speechless, ultimately just sighing in resignation, "How did I raise such a disappointing daughter?"
Hearing the softening in Mr. Dong’s tone, Dong Xin Yan’s eyes brightened. She quickly leaned in, sat beside Mr. Dong, and wrapped her arms around his, softening her voice, "Dad, I’ve missed you so much. How have you been?"
Mr. Dong still harbored some anger, unwilling to respond to Dong Xin Yan, but after a few soft-spoken words from her, his heart softened too, "I’m still the same every day. How about you? It’s been tough this past half year, hasn’t it?"
Whenever she called back, she always shared the good news but not the bad. But she’s his daughter—how could she possibly fool him? 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Dong Xin Yan lowered her gaze, avoiding Mr. Dong’s eyes, but her lips curved, "Dad, I’m very happy now."
The past is already in the past. Now, and what’s before her, that’s what’s most important.
There was a message behind Dong Xin Yan’s words that Mr. Dong certainly understood.
Mr. Dong was silent for a while, then slowly spoke, "Xinxin, are you sure the person you’ve chosen is really Mr. Gu?"
