Two Worlds at a Time-Chapter 107: Chaos on the edge of the cliff
"I saw how your name wasn’t even mentioned anywhere, and it was incredibly difficult to even find you. In fact, all I know is your age and I haven’t seen your face," the man continued. Aric was listening to this in extreme silence while dashing out commands in his communicator. "So I hope it won’t take much time for you to send the money. The same police officer will reach your home the day after tomorrow, and I would expect at least two bags full of money to be delivered."
With those words, the person hung up the call. The words spoken by the man on the call were loud enough for everyone to hear, even though he wasn’t on speaker.
"We will visit your home in two days," one of the police officers said. "And try not to be oversmart and file some case in court. Nobody will help you since the underworld itself has taken the lead," the other police officer added. Aric looked at the two officers, and both of them felt some kind of chill.
"What are you looking at? How dare you look at me like that?" With a loud shout, he proceeded to slap Aric right on the face. Aric was in handcuffs all this time and thus couldn’t stop the slap, nor did he want to stop it. He was experiencing this moment slowly in order to carve these raw emotions into his bones.
"Hmph. Such a runt and still has the audacity to look at me like that."
"Leave him. Let’s go. We don’t want the local police officers to find out that we have entered their jurisdiction."
The next moment, the jeep made a U-turn, and they were on their way to Aric’s grandfather’s place. In no time, they were back home. It was late at night, but the lights of the home were still on, and one could see that a couple was sitting on the small set of stairs leading to the home. They looked devastated, but once they saw the jeep, they got up. Aric had been incredibly silent all this time as the handcuffs were opened from his wrists.
Both of the couple came running in, and before his grandfather could say anything, one of the police officers spoke.
"We are incredibly sorry as we have got the wrong person. We realized our mistake later. We will not bother you anymore." With those words, Aric was let go. But before Aric was far away from the two corrupt men, one of them whispered,
"You wouldn’t want a hard life for your aged grandparents, right? I hope you will take the correct decision for both of us. It will be easy to make you and your family’s life miserable from afar."
With those words, Aric parted from the officers and was already in the arms of his grandmother. His grandfather wanted to shout at the police officers, but Aric stopped him.
"I am home, Grandpa. Leave them. They will not bother us again," Aric said. This made the two police officers very happy, and they left with big smiles on their faces. Grandma had tears in her eyes, and it took a lot of convincing on Aric’s part to assure her that he was fine and wasn’t charged with any crimes. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Thankfully, these police officers came late at night, or else his grandparents would have been really ashamed and wouldn’t be able to show their faces in public. Actually, these police officers wouldn’t even have dared to show up in daylight. It was because this place was past their jurisdiction, and stepping foot here meant they would have to pen an official reason for why they were here.
They couldn’t do that because they were corrupt and crooks to begin with.
"Let’s get him some food. He hasn’t eaten for hours now," Grandfather said.
"It’s okay. I am not that hungry."
"Wait, I will reheat the food." Grandmother was happy, seeing that her grandson would be fed now after the great storm that just passed by.
Aric was finally in his bed after all the smothering and extra love he received from his grandparents. They had also informed his parents, and Aric had to convince them too. At the end, it was late at night when his body hit the bed. Though his grandpa had many questions, he didn’t ask them, or at least not at the moment.
He belonged to the special branch of police, so of course he knew something was fishy, but he just didn’t know what. He was anxious, thinking some of his old enemies were coming after him, as he had helped catch many criminals, but he didn’t know who was after them.
After calming down for a moment, Aric checked his communicator. Since the moment he was taken to the jeep, a dozen lethal laser-armed gun-drones had been following those two police officers.
"If you do this, you will be committing a huge crime."
"I remember the words of Voldemort: ’There is no good and evil. There is only power and those too weak to seek it.’ Those words hit home at times like these," Aric replied. With those words, he vanished from the room. He was back at his home in Vallin city.
He navigated through the house and reached the huge garage. The rich people in this city all have big garages. It was because these individuals had big cars. Cars would be the wrong word here; what they had were basically mini-airplanes—ones that could travel in space and on planets.
These flying ships came in various shapes and sizes. Some preferred luxurious ones. Some preferred ones that could travel to distant places in space, while others preferred both. Over the past year, he had bought himself one.
And unlike buying to fulfill vanity, he bought quite a resourceful one—the one that could make his job quite easy at home. Chaos was just like a cliff, and one little push could make the world suffer.
And today, he had pushed off the edge of that cliff. His next actions would bring so many changes to the country that even he wouldn’t expect.
