My Cuckhold System-Chapter 181: Strange Research Facility
The drive to the ruins location, lasted about two hours.
As they moved deeper into the Canyu Mountains, the surroundings began to change.
Civilization faded as nature took over, putting tall cliffs and dense forests and display.
Eventually, the vehicles slowed to a stop and before them was a terrain where the convoy could no longer thread.
What had once been a rough but navigable path through the Canyu Mountains had now completely given way to nature’s dominance. The road ended abruptly, swallowed by rough terrain, uneven rock formations, and rising slopes that stretched endlessly upward.
Engines died down one after the other as the doors opened and boots hit the ground.
The group stepped out and their attention was immediately drawn forward.
"...Damn," Derek muttered under his breath.
Before them was a vast expanse of hills rolled endlessly into the distance, layered like waves frozen in time.
However, one singular massive mountain stood above all of them in the distance.
Its peak was coated in an unnatural ashy white, as though it had been dusted with the remains of something long burned away. Even from this distance, a faint haze seemed to linger around it, giving it an eerie, almost sacred presence.
"That’s... where we’re going?" one of the newbies asked.
West stepped forward slightly with his eyes fixed on the mountain.
"Yeah."
He pointed.
"The research center is on that mountain...But not at the top."
Jax cracked his neck.
"So we climb."
West nodded.
"It’s on the other side. Somewhere near the lower section but there’s no direct path."
Nina sighed softly.
"Meaning we go up..."
"...to go down."
"Exactly."
There was a brief silence before one of the guys scoffed.
"...Great."
Another stretched his arms.
"Alright, let’s get this over with."
West didn’t waste time.
"Move."
—
The climb began when they arrived at the largest mountain.
This would have been a challenge for regular folks but for awakeners... it wasn’t exactly "climbing" in the traditional sense.
Some leapt from rock to rock, covering several feet in a single bound while others activated their branches, transforming partially or fully.
One grew elongated limbs, gripping surfaces like a creature adapted for cliffs.
Another sprouted hardened claws, digging into the rock as he scaled upward with ease.
The group spread out slightly but maintained direction.
Jax moved effortlessly, scaling the mountain without even needing to use his ice abilities.
Nina followed behind West, occasionally using her brush to create temporary footholds when needed.
And as for West, he didn’t even bother climbing.
Every time he leapt, he crossed fifty to sixty feet upward or across. His body twisted mid-air, landing cleanly on narrow edges before launching himself again.
It was as though his body was weightless, shooting across the air with speed and ease.
"...What the hell..." one of the newbies muttered as he watched.
Even the tall guy from earlier who had challenged West, couldn’t hide his disbelief.
"...No wonder I lost to this guy..."
West suddenly paused at a ledge, holding it with one hand and extending his body backwards before glancing down.
He was quite high up now and others were behind. However, he noticed the non combat operatives struggling to catch up.
A faint ripple of energy appeared behind West and in the next moment, Gor’thala appeared.
With her ten-foot-tall orc-like figure, her presence alone commanded attention. Her muscular frame radiated power, as a magical glow surrounded her staff.
She immediately made the staff vanished upon receiving West’s command.
Meanwhile, the group below froze for a second.
"...Wait..."
"...He’s a summoner?"
"...That’s his branch?"
Derek grinned like he had been waiting for this.
"Told you."
The tall guy blinked.
"...No way..."
"...I lost... to a summoner?"
His voice carried genuine disbelief.
Without wasting any time Gor’thala, dropped from a height of over hundred feet and grabbed onto a chuck of protruding rock right besides two non-combat operatives who had been struggling slightly with the terrain.
Without a word, she lifted them effortlessly under both arms.
"Hold on tight," She voiced casually.
Gor’thala bent her knees slightly causing magic to gather beneath her feet before...
BOOM!
She leapt upwards and that part of the mountain cracked with chunks blasting outwards.
In a single bound, she cleared a massive section of the mountain, nearly reaching West’s current position.
"...That’s cheating," someone muttered.
West smirked faintly.
"Work smarter."
The climb continued and as they moved, West’s summoned the system interface to buy a few things.
He opened the SHOP.

West had already spent a lot of Cuckpoints boosting his substats, buying new skills and even buying items from the shop but he still had enough Cuckpoints to buy a couple things more so without hesitating, West selected a few items quickly.

West flexed his fingers slightly as the combat band subtly integrated with his wrist, barely noticeable but enhancing his grip strength instantly.
"...Useful."
He planned to give the earrings to a couple folks in the group so as to enhance team communication but that would be when they fully scaled the mountain.
West made a low ’mhm’ in satisfaction before proceeding to scroll through the main status panel.

He smiled faintly satisfied by his three months progress.
"...Not bad."
He remembered how it started and was glad he had made noticeable progress.
"...Still not enough," he murmured under his breath.
His gaze sharpened slightly as he looked ahead.
"How much stronger can I get..."
The thought lingered but he didn’t dwell on it.
He closed the interface just in time because the climb was ending.
The terrain leveled out as they reached the upper ridge.
From here, the view changed... and as they descended along the opposite side, the abandoned research center came into view.
It was nestled against the lower side of the mountain, slightly isolated and hidden.
West stepped forward, focusing his gaze on down ahead.
"...That’s our destination."
Behind him, the group gathered, preparing to descend into what awaited below.
...
...
It didn’t take too long before they finally arrived at the abandoned research facility.
The concrete structures here were half-consumed by nature.
Rusting metal beams, broken glass and overgrown vegetation crawled across walls and rooftops.
However, something about it felt very odd and eerie.
West eyes scanned the area.
"...Yeah."
"This is it."
Jax stepped beside him, cracking his neck.
"Finally."
Nina followed quietly with her gaze fixed ahead while behind them, the rest of the group gathered with focused gazes.
Derek spoke up.
"So... we heading in?"
West nodded.
"Yeah... stay sharp."
Because right in this abandoned structure, at the lowest level lay another world... the ruins they were headed for.
From the outside, the abandoned research facility already looked unsettling but stepping inside was something else entirely.
The moment West and the group crossed the threshold, a cold, stale air wrapped around them. The walls were cracked, lined with old cables that hung like vines with some still faintly sparking with dying energy.
Broken monitors littered the floors, and metal doors hung off hinges, creaking faintly as if something unseen had just brushed past them.
"...This place is creepy as hell," one of the guys muttered.
Jax smirked.
"Good. Means it’s interesting."
Nina walked side by side with West.
"It feels... strange... a tingling sensation is crawling up my spine."
West didn’t respond immediately... he was stoll scanning the surroundings.
"...Hmm, let’s just stay alert," he said quietly.
They moved deeper and every step they took, left echoing footsteps spreading through the surroundings.
After descending about three levels lower, a strange glitch distorted the air causing everyone to freeze.
"What was that?" Tara whispered.
The distortion appeared again, flickering strangely.
Everyone eyes instantly widened as a feminine figure appeared ahead of the hallway.
The female figure was blueish and translucent, flickering like a broken hologram.
Her form was smooth and almost robotic but incomplete. Parts of her body phased in and out as her face glitched between clarity and static.
A distorted voice followed.
"...Do... not... proceed..."
The words cut in and out like a broken transmission.
"...danger... below..."
"...do not go... down..."
All of a sudden, she vanished.
"...Okay, nah," one of the girls muttered. "That’s not normal."
