Chapter 113: School Trip

The buses roared to life one after another as the doors hissed shut.

Students flooded in with backpacks, duffel bags, and far too much energy for eight in the morning.

Nina was already seated in the middle and on her left, sat Mira Han.

West was seated on her right, beside the window.

Mira glanced at him, unimpressed.

"You came late," she said flatly.

"Fashionably," West replied.

Nina smiled faintly, but her mind was elsewhere as the bus began to move.

Soon the lot faded behind them.

---

Inside the Bus, the atmosphere had transformed almost immediately.

What had begun as orderly seating devolved into laughter, shouting, and music within ten minutes.

One of the guys in the back named Darius, pulled out a massive portable MP3 speaker.

"ROAD TRIP MODE!" he yelled.

Music blasted through the bus.

The teacher supervising their bus, Mr. Lowell, turned in his seat.

"Lower it!"

Darius lowered it... for about thirty seconds... and then the volume crept back up.

Some students started singing along.

Others recorded stories for social media.

West leaned back in his seat.

This was how school trips were supposed to be.

Messy... chaotic... and unfiltered.

Mira crossed her arms.

"Remind me never to get on your nerves," she muttered toward West.

He smirked.

"Why? Afraid I’ll expose your secrets too?"

"I don’t have secrets."

"Everyone does."

She rolled her eyes.

"At least I don’t sabotage relationships for fun."

Nina shifted slightly at that.

The Lena scandal was still circulating.

Even now, some students were whispering about it.

Nina had seen the images and short clips just like everyone else...

Surprisingly, it didn’t make her feel jealous, angry or threatened because she knew Lena had betrayed West first.

And this was just payback. A well deserved one...

If anything, seeing what West had done to Lena stirred something inside her.

The way he had looked in those clips... dominant fucking the shit out of her...

Her pulse quickened just remembering it. Flashbacks of their time last weekend plagued her mind and she couldn’t help but sneak glances at West longingly.

As the bus drove out of Misty High City, Nina stared out the window but saw none of the scenery.

Her thoughts were entirely consumed by him.

West felt her gaze and he leaned closer slightly.

"Daydreaming?"

She swallowed.

"No."

"Liar."

Mira snorted.

"Can you two not be weird?"

West chuckled while turning toward Mira.

"So, Mira... still no boyfriend?"

She stiffened.

"That’s none of your business."

"Just checking. Wouldn’t want you falling behind everyone else."

"I’m not desperate like some people."

Nina lightly elbowed him.

"Stop teasing her."

"I’m not teasing. I’m concerned."

Mira shot him a look.

"You’re unbelievable."

The guys in the row behind them leaned forward.

"West, seriously," one of them said, "remind me never to cross you."

Another added, "Yeah, man. You destroyed Caleb."

West shrugged.

"Don’t give me a reason."

They laughed nervously.

Even joking about it, there was an edge beneath the humor.

Everyone had seen what he was capable of.

How the hell was his dick so big?

---

The first two hours of their journey was spent navigating through the familiar roads of Misty High City.

Tall glass buildings...

Dense residential blocks...

Crowded intersections...

Billboards advertising awakened recruitment programs...

Security patrol drones occasionally gliding above the streets.

After two hours went by, the bus crossed the city boundary.

The architecture began to change and Red Valor City came into view gradually.

Unlike Misty High’s smodern aesthetic, Red Valor felt heavier and older with wider roads.

Stone structures blended with newer reinforced buildings.

Large banners hung across intersections displaying the city’s emblem... a crimson shield crossed with two ancient blades.

The city had history.

It had once been the epicenter of awakened conflict decades ago.

That legacy remained in its architecture.

Some buildings still bore faint scars of patched stonework...

Tourism had softened its image in recent years.

Cafés and boutique shops lined the streets leading toward the historical district.

As they moved deeper into Red Valor, the skyline shifted.... soon lower buildings and more open space came into view.

Finally, in the distance, they could spot the Eternal Ruins.

Massive stone arches protruded above ground...

Fragments of ancient towers stood like broken teeth against the sky.

Even from afar, the scale was impressive.

The bus quieted slightly as students leaned toward the windows.

"Whoa..."

"That’s insane."

"It’s way bigger than I thought."

West’s eyes sharpened.

He wished Jax could see this and get an inkling of how ruins looked...

But they attended different schools.

Their bus soon turned towards a large tourist complex near the ruins.

---

The lodging facility was modern but built in harmony with the ancient surroundings.

There were stone exteriors, wide courtyards, wooden beams...

Teachers organized everyone quickly.

"Girls to the east wing!"

"Boys to the west!"

Groans and laughter followed.

West ended up in a four-person room with Darius, Felix who was quiet but observant... and Rohan, the class clown.

They tossed their bags onto the four single beds.

There were two desks and a shared bathroom.

"Claiming this one!" Darius announced, jumping onto the bed nearest the window.

Rohan flopped onto another.

Felix quietly took the corner bed while West chose the one closest to the door.

They unpacked quickly.

The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as Felix glanced at West.

"You think anything interesting will happen here?"

West smiled faintly.

"It’s a ruin."

"That’s not what I meant."

A knock echoed down the hall.

"All students gather outside!" a teacher’s voice called. "We’re beginning our first tour of the outskirts!"

Darius groaned dramatically.

"Already?"

"Yes, already!" Mr. Lowell barked from outside.

The boys filed out and soon the courtyard was filled with Class 3.

Teachers stood at the front and led them out.

...

...

~ Minutes Later ~

The Eternal Ruins loomed in the distance... up close, the scale was overwhelming.

Massive stone pillars covered in ancient carvings...

Broken staircases leading further downwards...

Fragments of walls etched with faded symbols.

The outer perimeter had been reinforced with safety railings and designated paths for tourists.

There was an entry point but the teachers didn’t lead the students there just yet...
