Chapter 108: Annihilation

A sickening crack rang out in the next instant as the wrist bent unnaturally backward.

Bone snapped clean in two and the man’s scream tore through the hall.

"Giaarrrhhhhhh!"

Before he could finish screaming, Gor’thala twisted her torso slightly and flung him across the room.

His body flew like a ragdoll and slammed into a distant wall.

Baam!

His entire figure was embedded into the wall as he passed out cold.

The entire hall fell silent almost instantly.

West slid off Gor’thala’s back and the moment his shoes touched blood-streaked marble, he knelt instantly beside his father.

"Dad."

Mark’s breathing came out in heavy rasps as blood covered his face.

One eye was already swelling shut.

"West..." he mumbled.

West’s face contorted.

"Are you okay?"

Mark tried to nod but winced.

The sight of blood caused something inside West to snap.

Sure his father wasn’t around for most of his teenage years but he was still his father... Especially, one who was currently doing his best to be more present.

Cold and controlled rage began to fizzle up within as he stood slowly and turned toward the thieves.

The unmasked leader studied him calmly.

"...So the son arrived."

West didn’t respond.

He simply lifted a hand and the air shimmered as Seraphyra materialized beside him in her towering serpent form.

Ash-black scales glinted beneath chandelier light and green eyes glowed with delight.

"Oh..." she purred softly. "This looks fun."

The masked thieves hesitated and some stepped back instinctively.

The leader narrowed his eyes.

"An awakened."

"Gor’thala," West voiced with a cold tone and she stepped forward, cracking her knuckles.

"Wreak havoc."

A savage grin spread across her tusked face like she had long been waiting for this moment.

"Yes, Master."

"Seraphyra."

The serpent woman’s tongue flicked faintly.

"Leave some alive?"

West’s gaze never left the men before him.

"No."

Bang!

The first gunshot rang out like a starting bell...

Then another...

Then a volley.

Muzzle flashes lit up the luxurious event hall as the masked thieves opened fire on the towering green figure stepping forward.

Gor’thala did not flinch.

She planted the butt of her staff against the marble floor.

BOOM.

A wave of emerald light rippled outward, causing an invisible dome materializes around her massive frame just as the bullets struck.

Clink.

Clink.

Clink.

The rounds flattened harmlessly against the barrier and fell to the ground like useless metal pebbles.

The guests gasped while the thieves faltered.

Gor’thala’s had a stoic and unimpressed expression as she she swung her staff in a wide arc, powerfully.

A compressed wave of magical force exploded outward.

The shockwave slammed into a cluster of gunmen like a freight train, lifting their bodies into their air and sending them crashing into the distance like toy as chairs splintered.

She waved again and three men were hurled across the hall, crashing into banquet tables and decorative pillars with bone-crunching impacts.

The leader’s calm expression finally tightened. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Spread out!" he barked.

But it was already too late.

Gor’thala lifted her staff again, chanting under her breath in a guttural, ancient tongue.

Two massive summoning circles ignited on either side of her.

The marble cracked as two enormous beings forced their way into reality.

Both were easily twice the size of a mammoth. Their body was a slab of dense, corded muscle wrapped in thick hide. Their paws burned with green flames, branding the ground with smoldering marks that hissed and crackled with every step that it took.

From those scorched imprints, gnarled roots immediately burst forth, writhing like living things.

Their eyes burned with the same green inferno as intelligence glinted within the flames.

Three massive tails each lashed behind them, eending in a sharp, spear-like tip that gleamed ominously.

Verdant Pyre Behemoths.

With earth-shaking roars, they charged in opposite directions.

Gunfire erupted again but it was utterly useless.

One Behemoth barreled through a line of thieves, cleaving through weapons and bone alike with its claws.

A masked man was lifted clean off the ground and torn apart mid-scream. His ripped apart corpse burst into green flames, illuminating the hall.

The other Behemoth plowed into another group, smashing one into the floor so hard the marble cratered, then swiping another into a pillar that cracked under the impact.

Screams filled the air as chaos and smoke spread.

On the other side of the hall—

Seraphyra laughed with a soft and melodic tone as she coiled across the marble floor.

Three gunmen raised their weapons toward her.

She tilted her head slightly.

"Now, now..." she purred. "Look at me when I’m speaking."

Their eyes met hers and her green eyes ignited with a golden glow.

The three men froze instantly, turning into statues.

Their muscles locked in place mid-motion with fingers still curled around their triggers.

Seraphyra had just used medusa’s gaze.

She smiled sweetly as her massive tail whipped sideways.

Boom!

The frozen bodies shattered like brittle statues, broken into pieces by the sheer force of her strike.

Guests screamed again.

Even those who had moments ago been victims were now terrified.

Was this a rescue or complete annihilation?

West who was tending to his father suddenly heard a voice behind him. When he turned around two of the masked thieves were right behind him, with their weapons outstretched.

"He’s a summoner which means he is physically like us normal people! Once we get rid of him, we’ll be safe!"

"What a foolish summoner! You should have hidden well enough if you didn’t want to get caught"

Both thieves voiced manically, glad that this terror would finally be over when they got rid of West.

West on the other hand slowly turned around and stood to his feet.

"Your mistake was not firing immediately..."

The lights in the hall suddenly began blinking ominously as blue arcs of electricity gathered around West’s right hand.

Both thieves looked up in confusion but the moment their eyes returned to West, his arm had already thrust out.

Blueish snakes of electricity slammed into the masked thief on the right as West’s palm collided with his chest.

A zapping sound rang out as the thief spun across the air and rammed into a pillar on the other end with smoke fizzling from his unconscious and charred figure.

The other thief eyes widened in shock and terror as be pulled the trigger.

Bang!
