Chapter 99: Chapter 98: Plan

Both the North Nether Divine Technique and the Star Absorption Technique had been successfully upgraded. He was powerless to raise them to the next level, having already poured all his lesser Martial Arts into them. The only ones left were the most basic techniques. Unless he bought more from the Shop, but those prices were simply too outrageous to bear.

’This is as far as I can take them for now. I won’t be able to upgrade them any further unless I accumulate a massive amount of Madness Value.’

Yi Tianyun then checked his attribute bar, where all his details were listed.

Yi Tianyun shook his head as he looked at the 3,500,000 experience points required. ’That’s a huge number.’ He would need to kill many Core Formation Stage Cultivators or Demon Beasts to level up.

He had cleared out a lot of things, though, like all the useless Martial Arts techniques. Quality was what mattered most.

His attention then fell upon the armor set. This was the set that had dropped when he killed Wentian Ancestor, and he immediately equipped it.

"Successfully equipped Chaotic Heaven Divine Armor and Chaotic Heaven Battle Boots. Two-piece Set Attribute: Defense Power x2, Movement Speed x2!" a system notification sounded.

Yi Tianyun’s eyes lit up. ’As expected of a Soul Artifact-level set. It’s so much better than my old Snow Wolf Battle Boots.’ That was why he’d sold them; the Snow Wolf Battle Boots couldn’t be upgraded, so he had gotten rid of them.

’Next, equip the Chaotic Celestial Saint Axe!’

Yi Tianyun equipped the Chaotic Celestial Saint Axe. A giant axe materialized in his hand, its surface covered in a dense web of Divine Runes. A chaotic aura radiated from it, making him feel as if he could cleave space itself with a single swing.

"Ding! Successfully equipped Chaotic Celestial Saint Axe. Three-piece Set Attribute: Defense Power x2, Movement Speed x3, Strength x2!"

The perfect set attributes were displayed. Not only had his movement speed increased again, but he now had a twofold strength enhancement! ’Sets really are amazing,’ he thought. ’They’re so much better than just equipping a weapon by itself.’

"Excellent!" Yi Tianyun’s eyes shone. This set of equipment alone increased his Combat Power by 60,000!

Overall Combat Power was a rather vague concept. It didn’t necessarily mean high damage. High defense could also boost one’s overall Combat Power to a heaven-defying level. It just didn’t mean one could easily kill an opponent in a single blow. Therefore, of these 60,000 points, only about twenty or thirty thousand actually translated to direct offensive power.

He did a quick check of his new total Combat Power. It had reached 110,000! He had 110,000 Combat Power even without activating any of his burst skills.

’Does this mean I’ll reach 400,000 Combat Power if I activate Madness Mode?’ Of course not. The skill enhanced damage, not defense.

’Not bad. With this, I should be able to hold my own even against a Spirit Pill Stage expert...’ Yi Tianyun had never fought an expert at that level, so he wasn’t entirely sure how strong they were.

After finishing his inventory management, he walked out of his room. The moment he stepped outside, he saw a disciple waiting for him.

"Elder Yi, you’re out," the disciple said. "The Palace Master instructed that you go see her as soon as you emerged from your seclusion."

"My aunt is looking for me?"

Yi Tianyun smiled. Even if Shi Xueyun hadn’t sent for him, he had been planning to find her anyway.

He headed to the main hall and found Shi Xueyun. As soon as he entered the room, he saw her in discussion with several elders. The old ancestors had already returned to their seclusion; their time was short, so they no longer concerned themselves with the palace’s daily affairs.

Besides, with Shi Xueyun in charge, there was nothing to worry about.

"Tianyun, you’re here," Shi Xueyun said with a small smile as she looked up at him.

"Palace Master, you sent for me?" Yi Tianyun asked as he walked in.

"Yes. We’ve mostly finished cleaning up. There aren’t many disciples left from the three major factions, and we’ll have them dealt with shortly. There have been no surprises. We confiscated some weapons and a small number of Elixir Pills, but we recovered a great deal of Spirit Medicine. The materials from the Divine Forging Sect were especially plentiful. Since you happen to be skilled in Artifact Refining, we were planning to give these materials to you," Shi Xueyun said with a smile.

"That’s perfect!" Yi Tianyun grinned. "In that case, why don’t you give me all the confiscated Spirit Medicine, too?"

"Oh? Do you know an Alchemist?" Shi Xueyun inquired.

"My dear aunt, didn’t I tell you before? I know Alchemy..." Yi Tianyun couldn’t be bothered to call her Palace Master anymore and switched back to calling her ’aunt’. He felt a bit helpless. He’d told her once before, but she apparently hadn’t taken him seriously.

"You... you really know Alchemy, too? I’d forgotten... After all, I’ve never actually seen you practice it."

All of the elders wore shocked expressions. Not only could he perform Artifact Refining, but he was also an Alchemist? Was that even possible?

"Yes. And I have this Soul Artifact-level Purple Fire Divine Furnace. What do you think?" As he spoke, he summoned the Purple Fire Divine Furnace, which hovered above his palm.

When they saw it, they were stunned. That was a Soul Artifact-level Pill Furnace, more valuable than even a Mid-Grade Soul Artifact! The two weren’t in the same category at all; a weapon was a weapon, and a Treasure was a Treasure.

"Actually, Aunt, even if you hadn’t sent for me, I was planning on coming over," Yi Tianyun said with a smile. "This battle has made it clear that Merak Palace’s strength is still too weak. I suggest we use our newfound prestige to recruit more disciples on a large scale. As for weapons and Elixir Pills, leave the refining to me. We’ll cultivate a large batch of Spirit Refining Stage disciples to serve as our core strength. We also obtained numerous Martial Arts techniques from raiding the headquarters of the three factions, which we can put to good use!" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Excellent! Tianyun, you and I are on the same page!" Shi Xueyun exclaimed, pleasantly surprised.

"Of course. What did you expect, given our relationship?" Yi Tianyun chuckled. They were perfectly in sync.

The three elders exchanged glances. It seemed this would simplify matters greatly. Although they had gained a lot from the raids, their resources were still finite, especially the scarce supply of Elixir Pills that had to be refined. Now, with Yi Tianyun’s help, everything would be much easier.

"Then our next step is to focus on cultivating disciples and raise the overall level of Merak Palace. We’ll become a Second-Grade Faction, so no one will dare to look down on us again!" Yi Tianyun declared with determination.

In truth, what he cared about most was the main quest. ’As long as I complete that, the rewards will be incredible.’
