My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 75: The Ruby Pendant and the Magic Stone
The Gemstone Necklace around the Dogman Priest's neck shone with a mysterious, alluring light. From time to time, a red ripple of energy would flash across its surface.
It didn't look like reflected light, but rather like energy spontaneously generated and released from within.
When Fang Zhen saw it, he immediately sensed that this necklace was different.
He walked over, placed his Nepalese Curved Saber beside the head of the Dogman Priest he had slain, and removed the necklace with both hands.
The necklace had a well-designed hook on the back; a firm press was all it took to release the clasp.
After taking it off, Fang Zhen observed it closely. The more he looked, the more extraordinary he found it to be.
It was an exquisitely and uniquely shaped necklace, adorned with runic carvings that gave it a mysterious appearance.
More accurately, it should be called a pendant.
The pendant could be worn by an adult man or woman without feeling restrictive. The chain was silver-colored. Its texture resembled silver but wasn't; it was some kind of metal with a similar feel. It weighed nearly three ounces, which was on the heavy side.
The silver chain was exceptionally fine. A closer look revealed that it was shaped like dense fish scales, and each 'scale' was marked with a tiny symbol that resembled the mathematical symbol for 'pi'.
Dangling from the silver chain was a round, silver-colored metal medallion of the same material, about the size of a Gold Rope.
The medallion was covered in numerous, fine runes.
Fang Zhen discerned about six or seven different symbols, combined together to form an arrangement that resembled a formation array.
Even with his talent for languages and symbology, Fang Zhen couldn't fully decipher the meaning of these symbols. He could only sense that the runes contained a strange power.
Set into the metal medallion were three willow-leaf-shaped Rubies.
The three gems were arranged fanning downward, resembling the leaves of a blood-red Clover.
The Gemstone Pendant, as a whole, was extraordinarily exquisite. The craftsmanship surpassed even that of modern precious metalwork. Its appearance here felt out of place, like a highly detailed holographic beauty suddenly appearing in a pixelated game.
Fang Zhen caressed the Gemstone Pendant. The instant his finger touched the gem, it felt as if his entire body was struck by some force. The hairs on his arm stood on end, and a tingling numbness, like a mild electric shock, passed through him.
Fang Zhen was astonished.
He released his hand, and the shocking sensation vanished. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
He touched the Ruby again, and the feeling of a mild current passing through his body returned.
Fang Zhen was now certain: this Gemstone Pendant was by no means simple.
'This is probably a Magic Item. I wonder if it's related to how the Dogman Priest could cast Magic?'
'And... this is a bit awkward... Even though it's a magical item, I don't think I know how to use it.'
Filled with intense curiosity, Fang Zhen rubbed the gems on the Ruby Pendant.
He wasn't sure if anyone could use magical items from the dungeon worlds, or if there were specific conditions for their use.
Or perhaps, one had to pay a certain price to use them?
Fang Zhen didn't act rashly.
He had cleared the Dogman Mine dungeon. Barring any surprises, the dungeon was complete, which meant he would have plenty of time to research and experiment later.
He would collect it for now. There was no need to rush.
'Why do I get the feeling this is definitely a magical item? And maybe... it could be my chance to learn Magic?'
He had a strange premonition, a feeling that the Ruby Pendant was something extraordinary.
Fang Zhen attached great importance to the Ruby 'Clover' Pendant, carefully putting it away. He didn't even place it in his nearby backpack, choosing to carry it on his person instead.
After securing the Ruby Pendant, he was about to get up when his gaze suddenly fell upon the corpse of the Dogman Priest, whose head had been smashed to a pulp.
"Huh?"
The Dogman Priest's head was a mangled mess, and inside it—a wreck comparable to a picture of a motorcycle crash scene—was a green, diamond-shaped stone.
The stone wasn't large, but it wasn't small either—about the size of two thumbs held together. It was rhomboid in shape, pointed at the top and bottom and widest in the middle.
Fang Zhen was surprised to see the stone.
'What, did this Dogman Priest have a brain stone?'
Fang Zhen had heard of kidney stones and gallstones, but never of stones forming inside the brain.
Out of curiosity, Fang Zhen used his Nepalese Curved Saber to pry the stone out of the Dogman Priest's brain.
The stone wasn't heavy. It was a near-perfect diamond shape and dark green, with some naturally formed, tree-like patterns on its surface. It had a profound quality to it, feeling both mysterious and a little eerie.
Fang Zhen stared at it for a long time but couldn't figure out what it was.
'Could it be some kind of forging or smelting material?'
At this thought, he suddenly felt a sense of enlightenment.
Generally speaking, it seemed perfectly reasonable for a boss to drop some rare materials.
And if it could drop materials, that meant...
'I can smelt and enhance equipment?'
Fang Zhen's eyes suddenly lit up.
He had suddenly thought of a path he hadn't considered before.
Fang Zhen had always cleared dungeons using equipment from modern industrial society, like spears, the Dragon Gall Crossbow, riot gear, and Anti-Riot Shields.
So far, they had served him very comfortably.
But the current dungeon difficulty was only 'Normal' in the Nameless World, and it was already quite a challenge.
It was hard to imagine how intense the dungeons would be in the context of Elite, Heroic, or even Legendary Worlds.
Of course, Fang Zhen wasn't afraid. Besides, he hadn't reached that stage yet, so there was no need to worry.
He just had a nagging feeling about how far modern weapons, the kind accessible to ordinary people, could take him.
But just now, Fang Zhen had discovered a blind spot he hadn't considered.
Since dungeon worlds could drop materials, if he could find the right materials and a skilled craftsman, could he enchant his modern industrial weapons and equipment?
A Fire Flame Dragon Gall Spear?
A Thunder Cheetah Hunting Crossbow?
In the future, when he was stronger and had more options, maybe he could even get a Dark Energy AK-47 with Blast Flame Enchanted Bullets?
As these thoughts ran through his mind, Fang Zhen grew excited, filled with anticipation for the future.
Of course, to get such equipment, he would need to be in an Elite or Heroic world at the very least.
But the sheer potential was exhilarating, making it impossible not to dream about the possibilities.
He stood up and paced back and forth several times, rubbing his hands together in uncontrollable excitement.
"My lord?"
Quade's voice rang out.
Fang Zhen was snapped back to reality. Noticing his own excited state, he gave a wry smile.
"It's nothing. I was just thinking about something interesting,"
Fang Zhen said.
Looking at Quade, who was still sitting on the ground as if he had just caught his breath, Fang Zhen said with an appreciative look and tone, "You were very brave just now. Well done."
Quade's face flushed, whether from the praise or from excitement, it was hard to tell.
"My lord, what was the most glorious moment of your life?"
Quade asked suddenly.
Fang Zhen was taken aback.
A moment later, Quade's tone grew emotional. "My lord, for me, this is it. Right now."
As he spoke, a light unique to youth shone in Quade's eyes.
Hearing this, Fang Zhen looked at Quade, and after a moment, he understood something.
Thinking back, Fang Zhen had also experienced a few highlight moments where he felt a sense of glory.
But for him, the most glorious moment had yet to come.
For Quade, however, that moment just now was truly a rare one in his life—perhaps even the most brilliant.
In that instant, Fang Zhen felt he could completely understand Quade.
In Quade's eyes, Fang Zhen was a Knight who would have many glorious moments in his life; today's adventure was probably nothing special to him.
But for Quade, today—this very moment—might just be the most glorious and radiant moment of his entire life.
Quade probably didn't want to grow old and have nothing to say when his grandson asked him, "Grandpa, when were you the bravest and most magnificent in your life?"
"My lord, thank you for giving me this chance to prove myself,"
Quade said, his voice thick with emotion and his eyes turning red.
Fang Zhen looked at Quade for a while and nodded slightly.
He understood.
Years ago, Quade had been chosen as a Knight's Squire, but before he could even fight in a single battle, the Knight he served fell ill and died. Sent back to Redstone Town, Quade must have been deeply resentful and under a lot of pressure.
Tonight's battle had vindicated him.
Fang Zhen walked over and patted Quade on the shoulder as he sat on the ground.
"With your courage, you have proven that you are worthy of the title and honor of a Knight's Squire," Fang Zhen said.
At these words, Quade was suddenly overcome with an impulse he couldn't explain, and tears streamed uncontrollably from his eyes.
Seeing this, Fang Zhen smiled.
Quade was still so earnest; his emotions were written all over his face.
At this moment, Quade's loyalty stat had probably shot up to one hundred percent. He would likely even throw himself in front of a blade for Fang Zhen without hesitation.
"Alright, we've killed most of the Dogmen in the mine."
"We've worked hard enough. It's time to reap the rewards." Fang Zhen turned his head and broke into a grin.
He was going to open the great treasure chest of Miner Ding's Dogman Tribe!
