My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 766: What Identity?
Seeing that there was nothing more to discuss, the Xuan family of three left.
Zhou Cuilan was also starting to put the pieces together. Is Jia Yi’s family very wealthy? A house in Jingcheng as a gift!
Zhang Yuxi nodded. "Yes, their Xuan Family is the largest real estate developer."
The elderly couple had a sudden realization. But wait, the matchmaker didn’t say anything like this before...
Zhou Cuilan turned to call the matchmaker, who was an old friend of hers. As they talked, her friend gradually figured out what was going on.
"So, you were trying to introduce a girl to your grandson? You..." With a shift in her thoughts, the friend immediately understood. "So, is it a done deal now? If it is, you’ll have to treat me to a celebratory meal later."
Zhou Cuilan cheerfully agreed, then confided, "You told me before that the girl’s family was well-off, didn’t you? In what way, exactly?"
This old friend had gotten the referral from another matchmaker, so she only had a general idea of the situation. She had already given that matchmaker a piece of her mind over the doctored photo incident. Is there another problem now?
The old friend pursed her lips. "Well, she told me they were. Just a bit richer than the average family, the kind with a house and a car." She then asked, "Did something come up?"
When Zhou Cuilan explained Xuan Jiayi’s identity, her old friend was shocked. "Well, that’s a perfect match! Don’t forget to invite me to the wedding feast."
After hanging up with Zhou Cuilan, the old friend immediately contacted the other matchmaker. This second matchmaker only knew Fourth Brother’s identity and was still clueless about Xuan Jiayi’s, so she just offered her congratulations again and again.
"Let me ask you something," the first matchmaker said, her tone sharp. "You told me the blind date was your relative’s daughter. What’s this I hear? Is your relative’s daughter the heiress of Xuan Family Real Estate?"
The other matchmaker was stunned; she had certainly heard of the renowned Xuan Family Real Estate. She was truly in a difficult position and had no choice but to spill the beans.
Matchmakers often knew each other and could refer clients, splitting the success fee. She had previously heard that the Lin Family wanted to find a suitable girl for a relative. Thinking her own relative’s daughter—the roommate—was of marriageable age, she had introduced her. As the saying goes, when one person succeeds, their whole family benefits. Lin Feng had struck it rich, and his brothers had become affluent along with him. Their status was miles ahead of other wealthy families, so of course, she wanted to secure such a great opportunity for her own relative.
Who would have known that after the doctored photo incident, she discovered her relative’s daughter was already seeing someone else. She hadn’t told her family because her boyfriend’s financial situation was average. So her family was also in the dark, which created the opening for Xuan Jiayi to slip in. Upon learning this, the first matchmaker lamented that her friend’s relative was a fool who deserved to be blessed with good looks but cursed with an unhappy life.
Later, the relative’s daughter—the roommate—had called, asking if there was any way to introduce her to Fourth Brother after all. The first matchmaker, upon hearing Zhou Cuilan’s story, realized the potential groom wasn’t some distant relative but Zhou Cuilan’s own grandson. Seeing the roommate’s regretful state, she could only scold her, saying she got what she deserved. As for trying to pull a switch now, the second matchmaker scoffed internally. I’m not stupid enough to sabotage my own reputation.
Now, having learned Xuan Jiayi’s true identity, she immediately called the roommate.
"Do you know who your roommate is?"
"Who is she?"
"She’s the daughter of the owner of Xuan Family Real Estate."
"Which Xuan Family Real Estate?"
"That’s right! It’s a perfect match. What are you trying to compete with her for? Do you think you can win?"
"How can this be?"
"Hah! You were given a golden opportunity and you let it slip through your fingers. Who can you blame? Don’t call me again. I’m very busy."
After she hung up, the roommate was left with nothing but regret. For the rest of her life, she would be haunted by the fact that she had been just one step away from marrying into a top-tier wealthy family.
Lin Feng, far away in another city, knew nothing of these developments. He and his daughter had been on the film set for two or three days, and while filming hadn’t started, there had been no shortage of issues. The crew had been cobbled together by the director, so problems were inevitable. There was an issue one day and another the next. After days of delays, Lin Feng’s patience wore out.
The director was also the script editor, and the various teams were bound to him by contract, so they had to endure a lot. But Lin Feng couldn’t take it anymore; it had been a long time since he’d had to swallow his anger.
"Bring me your contracts. I’ll have my lawyer review them." he ordered. "If they’re no good, we’ll terminate all of them and I’ll bring in a professional team."
The director scurried over with the contracts. He knew a big shot like Lin Feng would have a private lawyer.
Lin Feng sent the contracts to his lawyer, telling him it was urgent and that he needed a response within the hour. The lawyer was on a seven-figure annual retainer, but Lin Feng rarely called upon him. As Lin Feng’s own net worth had soared, so had his lawyer’s standing. It didn’t even take an hour; the lawyer called back in thirty minutes. The contracts were flawed.
Lin Feng handed the matter over to his lawyer, ended the call, and immediately called Second Brother. He asked him to send over a professional team, saying they were needed urgently.
Second Brother replied with the confidence of a queen, "No problem. I’ll have the team there by tomorrow."
With the arrangements made, Lin Feng told the director to fire the entire crew; the professional team would arrive the next day. The look on the director’s face was as if he wanted to call Lin Feng "Dad!"
Lin Feng ignored him and took his daughter out for a walk. They hadn’t had a chance to explore the city yet.
The film was a suspenseful thriller with a twist ending where you never knew the truth until the very end. Fifth Sister played the innocent second female lead. She was a bright and cheerful young girl who was also secretly the villain of the story, delivering the final, shocking reversal. Lin Feng had debated letting her take the role, but in the end, it was Fifth Sister herself who had been eager to try a different type of character.
Just as they stepped out, they ran into the lead actress.
"Ah, Director Lin, Fifth Sister, are you two heading out?"
Fifth Sister nodded. "Mm-hmm, we’re going out for a walk."
Lin Feng just smiled politely and led his daughter away. The lead actress had started in short dramas before acting in one or two series, but she wasn’t very famous. The male actors on set were just placeholders; the roles hadn’t been officially cast. But with Lin Feng’s name now attached to the project, casting would be a piece of cake. The actress felt a great sense of gratitude toward the director for discovering her. When Lin Feng became the investor, the director had immediately given her the lead role.
There wasn’t much to see in the city, so the father and daughter ended up at a supermarket and returned with some snacks.
Soon after, Lin Feng received a call from Zhang Yuxi. She told him that Xuan Jiayi’s parents had sent many gifts, including an apartment in Jingcheng listed as 120 square meters.
"Just accept it," Lin Feng said. "When they get married, it can be their matrimonial home."
Zhang Yuxi hadn’t thought of that. It seemed that when it came to matters of social etiquette, Lin Feng was always more thoughtful.
"I have Jia Yi’s dad’s number. I’ll give him a call later to chat," Lin Feng added.
Lin Feng and Fifth Sister stayed in their hotel, unaware of the commotion brewing among the crew. The director, with Lin Feng’s backing, was now taking a firm stance.
"Don’t bother me with your issues. A lawyer is coming tonight, so you can talk to him," he told the discontented crew members. He had better things to do!
Later that night, after Fifth Sister was asleep, Lin Feng called Xuan Jiayi’s father. The two of them talked for half an hour before hanging up.
On the other end, after hanging up, Xuan Jiayi’s father turned his head and saw his daughter listening in with her ears perked up. He was both annoyed and amused. "Go on, keep pretending. You’re not even a part of the Lin family yet, and you’re already taking their side?"
Hearing this, Xuan Jiayi’s mother also got worked up. "Exactly! At home, she’s a little monkey, but the moment she goes to their house, she’s as well-behaved as can be."
Xuan Jiayi huffed. "Of course! In the future, I’m going to be a gentle and virtuous woman, a good mother, and a good wife!"
Her mother didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You certainly have unique ambitions."
Xuan Jiayi began to daydream aloud, "I hope to have three children, and every one of them will be brilliant! Two boys and a girl would be perfect..."
The couple was left speechless, but a sense of anticipation began to grow in their hearts.
