My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 758: Good Luck That Defies Fate
Xuan Jiayi glanced at Si Bao, who was driving, then pursed her lips and looked out the window. With such a handsome boyfriend, can I really hold on to him? The thought worried her.
Si Bao didn’t like the roommate. The polite expression he had worn just a moment ago had vanished, replaced by a cool indifference.
As they drove farther and farther, Xuan Jiayi asked in surprise, "Where do you live? It’s so far out."
"We live on the outskirts of the suburbs," Si Bao replied.
The roommate, being a local, knew that people who lived on the outskirts were very wealthy; most of them had villas. When they passed a villa complex, she expected Si Bao to stop, but to her surprise, he kept driving.
"Where are you taking us?" the roommate asked warily. "Where exactly does your family live?"
"We’ll be there in about two minutes," Si Bao said.
In sharp contrast to the wary roommate, Xuan Jiayi seemed completely carefree. When Si Bao cracked a joke, she simply replied, "Why would I be afraid? I trust you."
Her simple words made Si Bao feel incredibly happy.
Finally, they arrived at a small castle. An elderly couple had clearly been waiting for a long time. "They’re here, they’re here!" they exclaimed.
Xuan Jiayi stared at the small castle, stunned. "This is your home? You’re so rich." Even though my family is wealthy, we only have a large villa, not a castle.
The roommate was so shocked she was dumbfounded. Where did Xuan Jiayi get such insane luck? Her boyfriend is unbelievably rich! The person on that blind date... that should have been me! Maybe he was supposed to be *my* boyfriend! The thought made her fume with a mixture of anger and regret.
Lin Feng, Zhang Yuxi, Er Bao, and Xiao Bao all came out to greet them.
Xuan Jiayi was shocked. "You... aren’t you the..."
The roommate finished her sentence in disbelief, "You’re Lin Feng... the richest man in the country."
Her mind reeled. This is the kind of luck that can rewrite fate!
Si Bao took off his sunglasses. "Let me introduce everyone. These are my grandparents, these are my parents, this is my second sister, and this is Xiao Bao, our youngest sister."
Xuan Jiayi blushed nervously, fumbling with her bag. "Th-this is a gift I prepared... I-I didn’t know there would be so many people, so I only prepared something for your parents. I hope you like it!"
"You’re very thoughtful, my dear," Lin Feng said as he took the gift. "It’s the thought that counts. Come in and sit down!"
Zhang Yuxi smiled. "Yes, don’t be shy. Have a seat."
Zhang Yuxi went to make tea while Lin Feng cut some fruit. The grandparents sat down, looking at Xuan Jiayi with affection. The girl might be a little heavy, but that’s understandable. She seems nice. They felt an immediate liking for her.
Er Bao sat on the other side, her gaze lingering on the roommate for a moment. From their first meeting until now, she had already taken the roommate’s measure. She dealt with so many people every day that she could often size someone up after just a minute or two.
Si Bao asked Lin Feng to give Xuan Jiayi a checkup. Lin Feng led her to a room, and everyone followed except for the roommate.
Seeing that the living room was empty, she finally dared to look around the extravagantly luxurious house.
"Have a seat. Why are you standing?"
Er Bao’s voice from behind startled the roommate. The older sister had an assertive air about her, and the roommate immediately became docile, sitting down obediently.
"You and Xuan Jiayi are roommates, right? How long have you lived together?"
"We’ve been roommates for three months. We didn’t know each other well at first, but we slowly got acquainted. As for her, well..."
The roommate hesitated, acting as if she had some difficult secret to share about Xuan Jiayi. Anyone else would have pressed for details. But Er Bao didn’t take the bait. Instead, she just smiled.
"It seems my fourth brother really likes Xuan Jiayi. I think she’s a wonderful girl," Er Bao said. "Our family doesn’t care about social status; character is what’s most important. No matter what Xuan Jiayi is like, I have my ways of finding out the truth."
The statement was a clear warning to the roommate, implying that Er Bao would find out what kind of person *she* was, too.
The roommate pursed her lips. Thinking she had no real secrets to hide, she decided to tell Er Bao a ’secret’ of her own.
"So you’re saying, the person who was originally supposed to go on a blind date with my fourth brother was you?" Er Bao asked. "Then how did it end up being Xuan Jiayi?"
Just as the roommate was about to launch into her prepared story, Er Bao laughed. "Perhaps it was just their fate. If it had been you, I don’t think you’d be my brother’s type."
The roommate looked at Er Bao’s smile and couldn’t help but shiver. Her eyes seemed to see right through her. In front of Er Bao, she felt completely exposed, so awkward she wanted the ground to swallow her whole.
Er Bao’s smile softened, her sharp demeanor retracting. "You wait here. I’m going to go check on them."
Once Er Bao left, the roommate felt as if she’d been granted a pardon, letting out a long sigh of relief.
This family had five children. Besides the three at home, there was also Da Bao and the third sibling, who was abroad. They must all be formidable people. Ordinary folks like us can’t possibly compare.
The opulence around her reignited the roommate’s schemes. I consider myself attractive, I have a good figure, and I graduated from a prestigious university. I’ve had plenty of guys chase me. But none of them could give me a life like this. I can’t just give up on my natural advantages; I have to take a shot. But my abilities don’t match my ambition! Even when I run into someone like Si Bao, I have no confidence. Just dealing with Er Bao alone was enough to terrify me.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng was taking Xuan Jiayi’s pulse and asking her a series of questions.
"It’s not impossible for you to lose weight," he finally said. "Don’t worry about your weight. It’s not solid fat; it’s a sign of internal imbalance. It just needs to be treated gradually."
Xuan Jiayi’s obedient expression instantly turned to one of delighted surprise. "Can I really lose weight?"
Lin Feng nodded. "However, it might take a year or two. It’s a cyclical, gradual process that can’t be rushed."
Si Bao smiled. "See? I told you there’s always a solution. My dad isn’t like those other doctors. He can definitely rebalance your system."
Lin Feng had already started preparing the herbs. "Take this medicine home. You’ll need to buy a clay pot to brew it. Use three bowls of water, simmer it down to one bowl, and drink it once a day. As for the time of day, you can take it whenever is convenient."
Xuan Jiayi didn’t know how to thank him. She asked sheepishly, "Um, Uncle, how much is the medicine?"
This made everyone chuckle; they found the young girl quite endearing.
Si Bao laughed at her. "It’s free. The consultation is on the house."
Xuan Jiayi felt that was too generous and that she didn’t deserve it.
Lin Feng finished preparing and portioning the herbs and invited her to stay for lunch. Now that Xuan Jiayi wasn’t nervous, she carried herself with natural poise. The more Zhou Cuilan looked at Xuan Jiayi, the more she liked her. She held her hand and asked all sorts of questions, feeling her heart ache when she learned about her illness.
"What do your parents do for a living?"
"They’re in the real estate business, Grandma."
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"No, I’m an only child."
As they chatted, Zhou Cuilan gestured toward Si Bao with her chin. "What do you think of my grandson?"
Xuan Jiayi’s face flushed red. As if afraid someone up ahead might hear, she whispered, "He’s very nice."
Zhou Cuilan immediately beamed. "My grandson is straightforward and speaks his mind, but he has a good heart and treats people well. If he has a flaw, it’s that he’s not very good at making girls happy—he’s a bit of a blockhead. You have to be direct with him; he won’t understand if you beat around the bush! Also, if he ever bullies you, you come and tell Grandma. I’ll take care of him."
Xuan Jiayi paused mid-nod, then smiled shyly. Coming here had been a huge decision. She had agonized over it all last night, so afraid his family wouldn’t approve of her. But now it seemed they were all very kind, easygoing, and approachable people.
