Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Big Brother, It’s All On You!

After getting out of the car, Little Treasure joyfully and solemnly handed the workbook to Cai Cai.

Cai Cai cried, "...I don’t want it, sister!"

Little Treasure put on a stern face. "No, you need it."

With the problem solved, Little Treasure was happy.

Cai Cai was on the verge of tears.

This incident quickly spread online, sparking considerable discussion. So many people were recording videos that it was impossible to miss the family’s bewildered expressions. Especially when Little Treasure received her homework, the smile visibly vanished from her face, leaving her looking utterly despondent and ready to cry.

Apart from her, Lin Feng also had his moment in the spotlight. One bizarre question after another left him speechless, not knowing how to respond.

"Damn it, I was just nearby! I missed it by one minute, so frustrating!"

"My mom asked me to go shopping with her, but I refused! I completely missed it, I could cry! But my mom is awesome; she got an autograph and a photo."

"I contributed to Little Treasure’s homework, haha! The look she gave me then... hahaha..."

"What did Little Treasure do to deserve this? All I can say is, this method is brilliant!"

"The guy in front of me ran up and asked Director Lin, ’Director Lin, can I be your sixth child?’ I almost died laughing!"

"He said what I was thinking! If not a child, a son-in-law works too! Even a grandson is fine."

On the first day of the New Year, Lin Feng and his family brought a lot of joy to everyone. However, they had still underestimated the public’s creativity.

A talented YouTuber made a parody video of the family’s hilarious expressions. Upon release, it racked up tens of thousands of likes, saves, and comments!

"I clicked on this not expecting it to be so funny... hahaha..."

"I’m done for. I’m never leaving this video; I’ll die laughing here sooner or later."

"Haha, we have to show our support for Director Lin! Where is everyone? Let the comment barrage fly!"

"Barrage for the Second Young Miss!"

"Barrage for the Fourth Young Master!"

"Barrage for the Third Princess!"

"Barrage for Director Lin!"

"Barrage for the workbook!"

"Pfft, who the heck sends a barrage for a workbook?"

"If we cover the workbook with comments, Little Treasure won’t be able to see it..."

"The YouTuber is so talented, hahaha! I tagged Second Treasure, I’m sure she’ll see it soon."

...

In the evening, the Qin Family organized a dinner. Qin Jiang was only scheduled to return on the fourth day of the New Year. At the dinner table, both families ate happily. Qin’s mother made sure to attend to everyone, ordering all their favorite dishes and opening the best bottle of wine in the restaurant.

Qin Jiang’s grandparents couldn’t attend due to health reasons and were being looked after by an aide. However, they had sent their red envelopes for Little Treasure with Qin’s mother. Towards the end of the meal, she handed two thick red envelopes to Little Treasure. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Little Treasure accepted them with great joy and a sweet smile, reciting a long string of blessings. This delighted Mr. and Mrs. Qin, whose faces beamed with envy.

"You’ve raised all your children so well. Truly, very well!"

"I’ve never seen anyone educate their children so exceptionally. That kind of patience is rare."

Whenever the children’s education came up, Zhang Yuxi would proudly praise her husband. "It’s all thanks to their father’s efforts. The person I am today is also thanks to his silent support."

Qin’s mother smiled. "You married a good husband."

Zhang Yuxi always looked blissful whenever she talked about Lin Feng.

On the night of New Year’s Day, there was a light show in Jingcheng. Qin’s mother had found a great spot, a teahouse on the second floor with an unobstructed view of the long street’s parade floats and lights.

Lin Feng, with his sharp eyes, spotted Lin Jie’s family of four in the crowd and called him to bring the kids upstairs. The floor-to-ceiling window was massive, and Cai Cai and Fan Fan clung to it, thrilled with the view.

Young people can hardly sit still. After watching for a while, Fourth Treasure announced he wanted to go buy snacks. They chimed in one after another, and in the end, Cai Cai and Fan Fan also wanted to join the fun.

Wen Xiaoya wanted to go along to look after the children.

Lin Feng instructed Second Treasure and the others to take good care of the kids, reminding them that the place was crowded and they couldn’t afford to lose anyone.

Qin’s mother smiled. "They’re all adults. Taking care of two kids will be no problem at all. Just sit here and relax for a while."

Wen Xiaoya had become a full-time mom. In the beginning, she clumsily handled household chores and childcare. She had put in immense effort and endured many hardships to become proficient in everything, turning into a superhero in her children’s eyes. Taking care of one child was already hard enough, let alone two. Wen Xiaoya rarely had a moment of leisure.

Qin’s mother asked about Lin Jie’s company, smiling as she said, "We’re all family. If you encounter any difficulties in Jingcheng, just let us know. We know a lot of people."

Lin Jie’s face filled with gratitude. "Thank you in advance, then. I might just have to trouble you in the future."

Qin’s father was a man of few words. He sipped his tea while watching the lanterns, occasionally adding a comment. There happened to be a Chinese chess set, and when Lin Feng asked, it turned out to be a happy coincidence. Qin’s father knew how to play, so the two of them started a game right away.

The second day of the Lunar New Year is traditionally a day for married women to visit their parents’ homes. The family in Jingcheng had nothing planned, so everyone went their separate ways. They couldn’t keep up with the younger generation anymore. Lin Feng and his wife went shopping, enjoying a rare day to themselves. On the third day, Lin Feng began making rounds, visiting acquaintances in Jingcheng with gifts.

On the fourth day, Qin Jiang, who had said he would return, didn’t show up. He sent word that he would be delayed a few more days.

This wait, however, was first broken by the arrival of Eldest Treasure.

He arrived in the evening while the family was out for dinner. Without a word, he walked in and stood behind Zhang Yuxi.

Second Treasure, sitting directly opposite, was the first to spot him. Just as she was about to call out, Eldest Treasure signaled her to stay quiet. Soon, even Little Treasure noticed him. With a silent, shared understanding, the entire family kept quiet.

Their gazes, however, all converged on Zhang Yuxi, leaving her completely baffled.

"What’s going on? Is there something on my face?"

Little Treasure giggled, and the rest of the family joined in with laughter.

Zhang Yuxi’s eyes widened. "What are you laughing at? You’re the ones being funny!"

Suddenly, she heard a light, exceptionally familiar chuckle from behind her. Realization dawning, she turned her head and jumped in surprise.

"Oh my goodness, you scared me!" she exclaimed, patting her chest as she stood up. She lightly swatted her son. "Are you trying to scare me to death, sneaking up like that!"

Though her words were a reprimand, she couldn’t hide the joyful smile on her face, her eyes and brows curving with mirth. "Why didn’t you tell us you were coming back? Have you eaten? Quick, sit down. What would you like?"

They were having hotpot, so it was easy to add more ingredients. Zhang Yuxi called the waiter over to order, but Eldest Treasure sat down and said, "There’s no need to order, Mom. Isn’t there still plenty of food?"

Ignoring her son, Zhang Yuxi continued ordering while muttering, "How could that be enough? Don’t you like tripe? Let’s get three plates. And some luncheon meat..."

She had almost forgotten his favorites. She ordered seven or eight more dishes and only stopped when Eldest Treasure insisted they had enough.

Zhang Yuxi studied him, her voice laced with concern. "You’ve lost weight. You look more haggard than before."

Eldest Treasure laughed. "Everyone else says I’ve gained weight."

Zhang Yuxi huffed softly. "They don’t know what you used to look like..."

Lin Feng, having taken off his coat and rolled up his sweater sleeves, watched quietly from the side. When his wife had said her piece, he finally asked, "How long can you stay?"

Eldest Treasure replied, "My superiors gave me a week’s leave this time. I can spend some proper time with you all."

Little Treasure leaned in. "Eldest Brother, you’ve worked hard!"

Eldest Treasure smiled gently and pulled a red envelope from his pocket. "Here. Happy New Year!"

Little Treasure happily took it. "Thank you, Eldest Brother! Happy New Year to you, too!"

The family had originally been ready to leave. But with Eldest Treasure’s arrival, they stayed and ate for another half an hour.

Despite his mature and composed demeanor, Eldest Treasure could hold his liquor well. Fourth Treasure wanted to propose a toast but was stopped by Third Treasure.

"Let’s wait until Qin Jiang is here. We can all drink together then."

Fourth Treasure slapped the table. "Eldest Brother, our reputation rests on you!"

Eldest Treasure smiled. "Don’t count on me. I can’t outdrink Qin Jiang either." He poured some wine. "Setting everything else aside for a moment, our family is all here together. Let’s have a small drink."

"Dad, Mom, you two should also have a little."

After returning to the hotel, Zhang Yuxi’s mind was completely occupied with wondering when her son would finally bring his girlfriend home to meet them. They had been waiting for so many days.

In contrast to Zhang Yuxi’s slight buzz, Lin Feng was perfectly sober. "What’s the rush? We’ll meet her sooner or later."
