My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 721: Zhang Yuxi Arrives!
After deplaning, Zhang Yuxi headed straight to the address Lin Feng had provided.
The woman, though in her fifties, exuded an elegant, capable charm and a mature allure that younger women lacked. She carried herself with an innate, effortless grace. While it was typically impossible for a woman her age to look as if she were in her early thirties, no matter how well she took care of herself, Zhang Yuxi was the exception. Not only did she appear to be around thirty, but her vitality also defied her age.
Her long hair fell in natural, soft curls. She wore a long, camel-colored cashmere coat over a knit sweater and wide-leg pants. A brooch added the perfect touch of embellishment, and aside from her wedding ring, the only other jewelry she wore was a ladies’ wristwatch. Anyone with a discerning eye could tell the watch was expensive, valued in the six-figure range. Years of work had forced her to wear glasses; although the prescription wasn’t strong, she could no longer go without them.
Pulling her luggage with one hand and holding a shoulder bag in the other, she asked for directions until she found Xiao Bao’s film set.
"You must be Mrs. Lin. Please, have a seat. I’ll go get Mr. Lin right away."
"All right, thank you for the trouble."
"It’s no trouble at all, no trouble at all!"
News of Zhang Yuxi’s arrival spread through the set like wildfire. It happened to coincide with the trending posts about Lin Feng and Xiao Lu, so curiosity drove everyone to try and catch a glimpse of the real Mrs. Lin.
The studio was toasty warm, but not as warm as the stares of the people around her. They gawked at her as if she were some rare animal in a zoo. Unperturbed, Zhang Yuxi took out her phone to call Lin Feng, but several push notifications popped up. Her brow furrowed slightly. After she finished the call, her expression cleared with understanding.
Having such an outstanding husband naturally attracted flirtatious admirers; Yu Xi could understand that. It was also obvious that this particular woman was a classic ’green tea’.
TAP. TAP. TAP. Across the way, a woman with a pleasant, sweet face was preparing to storm off, her expression dark with anger. Her assistant scurried behind her, laden with bags of all sizes, looking furious but not daring to speak. The onlookers’ gazes were filled with disdain and mockery, but their expressions quickly shifted to the eager anticipation of watching a good show.
Zhang Yuxi glanced at her phone, then at the woman.
Heh, what a coincidence. Isn’t this that Xiao Lu who loves to generate buzz and ride on others’ coattails?
Zhang Yuxi rose to her feet and stood unhurriedly in the middle of the doorway.
Xiao Lu scowled. "Move aside!"
Zhang Yuxi offered a faint smile. "Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Lin Feng’s wife, Zhang Yuxi. And you must be Xiao Lu, correct?"
Having been a principal for over a decade and now a deputy director of education, Yu Xi exuded the quiet authority of someone in a high position. Her smile toward Xiao Lu was polite but never reached her eyes.
Xiao Lu stared at Zhang Yuxi in shock. "You... you are...?"
She couldn’t believe it. This stunningly elegant woman was Lin Feng’s wife? Based on their children’s ages, she had to be even older than Lin Feng. In her stereotypical view, a woman over fifty could never compare to a young woman in her twenties. No matter how wealthy she was or how well she maintained her looks, time would inevitably leave its mark.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Xiao Lu’s scowl vanished, replaced by a forced smile. "Yes, that’s me. So, you’re Mrs. Lin. Are you looking for Mr. Lin? I haven’t seen him."
Zhang Yuxi’s smile was graceful and magnanimous. "I heard someone say my husband is a fan of yours? How could that be? He doesn’t even know who you are."
With the most elegant smile, she delivered the most cutting words, leaving Xiao Lu’s face pale as ash. The onlookers couldn’t help but give Zhang Yuxi a mental thumbs-up. They thought if they were in Xiao Lu’s shoes, they would have died of secondhand embarrassment. It was just too awkward.
Xiao Lu was still trying to save face. "It’s all a misunderstanding. Some people just take things out of context. Well, I have other things to attend to, so I’ll be going. See you around."
With that, she scurried away as if a ghost were chasing her.
Zhang Yuxi’s smile gradually faded. She turned to a staff member who was running over and asked, "Where is my husband?"
"Mrs. Lin, Mr. Lin will be here shortly."
When Lin Feng arrived, he noticed the strange expressions on everyone’s faces in the studio but didn’t think much of it. Zhang Yuxi didn’t bring up the incident either. She could stay in T City for two days.
That evening, the director invited the couple to dinner, along with other key staff members, making for a lively group of over a dozen people. After a satisfying meal, the director went to pay the bill, only to find that Zhang Yuxi had already settled it.
He immediately felt embarrassed. "Mrs. Lin, I insisted on treating you. How could I let you pay?"
Zhang Yuxi smiled faintly. "We’re all friends here. It’s just one meal."
On the way back, Lin Feng took his wife and daughter to play in the snow. Snowfall was a rare sight in Meicheng, though she recalled it had snowed a few years prior. That night, heavy, fluffy snow was falling, making a satisfying CRUNCH, CRUNCH sound under their feet, which delighted Xiao Bao. The mother and daughter reacted with such unbridled joy, one would think they’d never seen snow before, and they immediately started a snowball fight.
Lin Feng stood to the side with his hands in his pockets, observing the battle.
"Daddy, come play with us!"
"Yeah, honey, it’s more fun together!"
Lin Feng laughed and joined the fray. His aim was one hundred percent accurate, quickly causing the smiles on the mother and daughter’s faces to vanish.
"Honey, you’re being mean! My clothes are full of snow."
"Daddy, my face is covered! That last one really hurt when it hit me! I’m not playing with Daddy anymore."
"Honey, maybe you should sit this one out. You’re too good; we’re no match for you."
Seeing his wife and daughter covered in snow, Lin Feng relented. "All right, you two play. I’ll build a snowman."
As soon as they heard "build a snowman," the two of them eagerly rushed over to join in. Lin Feng’s main job became shoveling snow for them, while the mother-daughter duo did the building. Thank goodness they had bought gloves beforehand; their hands would have frozen otherwise!
"Daddy, go find a twig."
"Honey, we need two twigs. And it would be even better if you could find a carrot."
"Daddy, do you have a scarf? The little snowman doesn’t have a scarf. He won’t be warm at all."
Where was he supposed to find all that? Twigs were manageable, but a carrot and a scarf? They had worked so hard on the little snowman, and Lin Feng didn’t want to disappoint them. He ran to a nearby barbecue restaurant and, amazingly, returned with a carrot. As for the scarf, Lin Feng ended up buying one from a young woman on the street.
Finally, it was finished. A cute and peaceful little snowman stood before them.
Xiao Bao took off her own hat and placed it on the snowman’s head. "There, now it looks even better."
"Are you cold?" Lin Feng asked.
Xiao Bao shook her head, her small nose red from the cold. "Not at all!"
The family of three took a photo with their snowman, hoping that people would be kind and not destroy it.
Back at the hotel, Xiao Bao fell asleep after a warm bath. When Zhang Yuxi came out of the bathroom, she saw her husband looking at his phone. "What are you looking at?"
She leaned over for a look, and her face flushed. "Wow, does everyone know about this already?"
Lin Feng asked, "Did you really say that to Xiao Lu?"
Zhang Yuxi huffed. "What, you have a problem with it?"
Lin Feng wrapped his arm around her. "How could I? My wife is always right! You handled it perfectly!"
Zhang Yuxi hummed softly, then brought up her usual refrain. "Honey, there are some things you need to handle yourself, don’t you think?"
Lin Feng assured her he understood everything and that she didn’t need to worry.
Zhang Yuxi was scheduled to fly back the next afternoon, but Lin Feng had to stay for about another half a month. It looked like Xiao Bao would be spending her entire winter break there.
