My Childhood Sweetheart Is a Little Crybaby!-Chapter 150: Slapped in the Face
"What are you guys talking about? Come over here, there’s something fun." Yu Chengcheng stood in front of a newly arrived arcade game, waving at the pair.
Jiang Yuan and Xu Jinyan walked over and noticed that there were people lining up in front of several new machines in the arcade.
Neither of them wanted to wait, so they planned to play something else.
"How about playing the claw machine?" Xu Jinyan pointed to a claw machine and asked Jiang Yuan.
"Do you know how?" Jiang Yuan raised her eyebrows.
Xu Jinyan: "Well... of course!" It looked easy, and he had just seen someone win a bunch and happily leave with his girlfriend.
He considered himself the number one gaming master, so this little thing surely couldn’t stump him.
"Fine, I want that one!" Jiang Yuan casually pointed at a pink pig plushie inside the glass cabinet. She remembered Xu Jinyan having an identical one as a child, which he had to hold every night to fall asleep.
"Watch the master!" Xu Jinyan rubbed his hands together excitedly and tossed two coins into the machine.
But, the session ended without even touching anything.
The air instantly filled with awkwardness.
Xu Jinyan coughed lightly, trying to save face: "That was just a mistake!"
He then continued to insert several more coins, but after four or five attempts, he still hadn’t succeeded.
Xu Jinyan: "I was just warming up, I’ll definitely succeed this time."
He took a deep breath, unwilling to give up, and inserted another coin. Clutching the joystick tightly, he stared at the claw inside, adjusting it numerous times before finally making up his mind and hitting the red button with a "snap."
The claw descended slowly and then...
The air fell silent once again.
Even Jiang Yuan couldn’t help but feel embarrassed for him.
Xu Jinyan straightened up, cleared his throat, and said, "It’s definitely this machine’s fault, let’s switch to another one!"
Jiang Yuan: "Okay!"
To preserve someone’s fragile confidence, she decided to quietly watch his performance!
The two then switched to the next machine, but the situation didn’t improve much.
Watching the new pile of coins quickly dwindling, someone seemed to be taking it personally against the claw machine. Finally, Jiang Yuan couldn’t stand it anymore and poked him, "How about I give it a try?"
Xu Jinyan: "Don’t worry, I’m about to succeed. Just relax, I’ve got the trick now." He couldn’t believe he would be outplayed by a machine, what would others say if they found out.
Jiang Yuan: "Just one try."
"Alright, go ahead!" Xu Jinyan looked at her reluctantly and stepped aside.
This girl would realize it’s not because he was unskilled but because these things really aren’t easy to win.
Those before them must have just been lucky.
Yeah, it was just luck.
Xu Jinyan watched as Jiang Yuan inserted a coin, then calmly operated the joystick with one hand while the other rested on the machine’s button. Through the transparent glass, he saw the claw swing down and quickly grab a pink plushie which wobbled as it was lifted.
Xu Jinyan: "You see, casually handling it like that surely won’t work, don’t look now but the claw strength is very weak, it will drop before it reaches halfway. Just watch, it will definitely drop, I had the same issue just n..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the plushie being tossed directly into the chute.
Xu Jinyan’s expression instantly stiffened, feeling a burning sensation across his face as if he had been slapped.
How annoying!
It was bad enough that this girl did better in school than him, but why did she have to be better at games too?
