Chapter 69: Chapter 69

The next morning, I spent the first few hours of the day touring the resort with some of my female colleagues, taking photos of the beautiful scenery along the way.

By 12:30 PM, we had reserved three tables on the second floor of the restaurant, and all the staff gathered for a barbecue lunch.

The women sat at one table, while the men occupied the other two.

The women had a few bottles of juice, while the guys went for wine.

Laughter and chatter filled the air, and after a couple of drinks, some of the men, feeling a bit bolder, began teasing Alexander.

Alexander only smiled, his expression calm, and didn’t seem the least bit bothered, which made the staff feel more relaxed and playful.

After lunch, someone suggested playing a game.

Everyone, now in high spirits, eagerly agreed.

"Alright, let’s play. What should we do?"

"Let’s start simple with a bottle spin." One person grabbed an empty beer bottle and placed it horizontally on the table. "Whoever the bottle points to has to choose either Truth or Dare."

"Sounds good," many of the employees agreed.

With CEO Hawthorne present, no one would dare to refuse, even if they weren’t particularly eager to play. Everyone would put on a brave face and join in.

M&F’s Director Nora asked, "CEO Hawthorne, will you play with us? Everyone’s hoping you will, right?"

"Yeah, come on, CEO Hawthorne, join us!" the others chimed in.

"Alright, I’ll join in for a bit," Alexander replied, though it was clear he wasn’t exactly thrilled.

The employees cheered in excitement.

Under Director Penelope’s guidance, the group moved to one of the resort’s standalone villas at the back.

The villa had a spacious living room, a pool table, a game room, a movie theater, a gym, and a bar, all set up for guests.

We all gathered on the floor in the living room, forming a circle around the bottle.

Director Nora volunteered to go first. "Let’s see who the lucky one is." She spun the bottle.

Everyone fell silent, their eyes fixed on the spinning bottle, holding their breath.

The bottle slowed and eventually pointed to one of the male colleagues.

The group, relieved to have avoided the first round, burst into teasing. "Elliott, you’re lucky! Truth or dare?"

Elliott, clearly not shy about the attention, answered, "I’ll go with Truth."

The others began throwing questions at him all at once.

Director Nora cleared her throat and motioned for quiet. "Alright, settle down. How is he supposed to answer all those at once? Whoever spun the bottle gets to ask."

The group quieted and turned to Director Nora.

She smiled at Elliott. "Elliott, are you still a virgin?"

Laughter erupted across the room. The female colleagues blushed, but their eyes remained on Elliott, waiting for his answer.

Elliott turned bright red, took a moment, and nodded sheepishly. "Yes."

The laughter grew louder.

"Elliott, your turn to spin now."

"Stop laughing! I’ll make sure the bottle points at all of you," Elliott said, spinning the bottle.

This time, the bottle landed on another male colleague.

He thought for a moment and said, "I’ll go with Dare."

Elliott grinned. "I won’t make it too difficult for you. Just kiss the person to your right."

The guy’s neighbor was another man.

He looked embarrassed, and so did his neighbor.

Amidst the teasing from everyone, the man quickly planted a kiss on his neighbor’s cheek, then jumped to his feet. "Alright, alright, I’m spinning the bottle now!"

"Spin it!"

I was caught up in the excitement, watching as the group continued to laugh and shout.

The questions kept getting bolder.

One person asked when their first sexual experience was, while another asked how long it lasted.

Some chose Dare to avoid answering personal questions, but even the dares weren’t exactly easy.

Anyone who refused to answer Truth or do a Dare had to take three shots of alcohol.

With so many people, it would take at least forty turns before everyone got a chance.

I hadn’t been picked yet, though a few of the other women had answered mostly tame questions.

Director Nora, having just completed a dare, smiled. "Finally, it’s my turn to spin. Let’s see who I land on this time."

The bottle spun slowly in the center, turning and turning.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on it, watching intently as it slowed down, finally pointing to someone that made the whole room erupt—Alexander Hawthorne.

Director Nora smirked. "CEO Hawthorne, it’s your turn. Will it be Truth or Dare?"

"Truth," Alexander replied.

"Alright then. Let me ask you this—CEO Hawthorne, was your first time with Miss Isabella?"

A collective gasp filled the air. Everyone was stunned by the boldness of Director Nora’s question.

They leaned in, eager to hear Alexander’s response, their faces filled with curiosity.

Alexander gave me a subtle glance. "No."

He had once dated Isabella, but they had never been intimate.

Alexander, being born an illegitimate child, had always been very disciplined when it came to matters of intimacy. He would never allow himself to cross certain boundaries.

Fortunately, his grandparents had doted on him, and he didn’t have the kind of bitter rivalry with his half-brother, Sebastian Hawthorne, that others from his background might have.

So, after the incident with Vivienne, it only made sense that he considered marrying her.

"Then who was it?" Director Nora pressed eagerly.

"You’re only allowed one question. I’ve answered," Alexander replied.

I couldn’t help but smile faintly.

When Alexander and I married, I knew about his past relationship with Isabella, but it was all in the past. What had happened between them was a mystery to me, and I didn’t need to know. Now, learning that they had never been physically involved brought me a quiet sense of satisfaction.

The room seemed to deflate, disappointment clearly written on their faces. Someone murmured, “Director Nora, you shouldn’t have asked it like that. You should’ve just asked who it was.”

Director Nora chuckled. “Next time! I’ll definitely ask next time!”

No one could have predicted what happened next. After a few more rounds, the bottle once again pointed at Alexander. This time, though, it wasn’t Director Nora asking the question; it was another male colleague.

The colleague, following the crowd’s earlier suggestions, asked, “CEO Hawthorne, who was your first?”

Alexander paused for a moment before answering. “Pour me a drink.”

Everyone was taken aback. Alexander would rather drink than answer the question.

Director Nora couldn’t resist teasing him a little. “Come on, CEO Hawthorne, aren’t you going to tell us? You’re really just going to drink instead?”

“Mm.”

“Why won’t you say? Is it because this person’s identity is special or something?”

“Top secret.”

Alexander stood up, grabbed the bottle from a staff member, poured himself a drink, and downed it in one go. He repeated the gesture three times, then flashed his empty glass. “Is that enough?”

“Ugh.”

There was no juicy revelation, and everyone felt a bit let down.

If it had been a prostitute or an ex-girlfriend, there would have been no need for secrecy. Could it be that the person was someone they knew? Maybe that’s why CEO Hawthorne was keeping it a secret?

The game continued.

After another two rounds, the bottle suddenly pointed at me.

A nervous jolt ran through me.

It was the same laid-back male colleague from earlier who asked, “Director Vivienne, truth or dare?”

“Truth,” I said, doing my best to keep my voice steady.

“Alright then, I won’t ask anything about you. I’ll ask about your boyfriend instead. I heard you have one. How... how long is he?”

My ears instantly burned, turning bright red.

It was a question I’d heard before, and while we couldn’t know for sure how the person being questioned felt, the spectators were clearly having a great time.
