My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 165
Third-Person POV
Sophie said, “Vivienne, aren’t you looking for love? Photography could be a great option! You wouldn’t have to worry about food or drink. You could buy a camera, travel the world taking photos, or set up shoots with handsome men and beautiful women. How carefree and fun would that be?”
Vivienne smiled. “Alright.”
Her life wasn’t just about Alexander; she wanted to reclaim the parts of herself she had lost.
Vivienne held the camera and took numerous pictures of Sophie and Ariana.
In the end, the three of them gathered for a group photo.
Meanwhile, the tour guide and driver were busy lighting the bonfire and serving hot soup.
Vivienne grew tired of taking pictures, so she handed the camera to Ariana but didn’t want to stay in the car. She sat down by the bonfire to warm up.
Unintentionally, she overheard a tourist pointing toward a car not far off, saying, “There’s a car over there. It must be someone who drove here to see the Aurora.”
Vivienne casually glanced over and thought the car seemed oddly familiar.
However, it had a local license plate, so it must have been her imagination.
After a while, the excitement faded, and the coldness returned. The tourists all gathered around the bonfire, enjoying snacks and fruits that were available for everyone to grab.
The tour guide started a new conversation, and naturally, some outgoing tourists quickly joined in.
The atmosphere around the bonfire grew lively.
One of the passengers took out a guitar and performed for the crowd, with everyone recording videos.
After the performance, during a lull, a girl suggested, “There’s someone driving here. Should we invite them to join us?”
The tour guide hesitated for a moment, glancing at the black car not far away.
The girl, thinking he was reluctant, dropped the topic.
To her surprise, the tour guide replied, “Let’s go ask them if they’d like to join.”
If it had been anyone else, it wouldn’t have been possible. But this was the new boss, after all!
The girl, cheerful and eager, volunteered, “I’ll go ask.”
She jogged over to the black car not far away and knocked on the window. “Excuse me, sorry to bother you.”
Frederick lowered the window by about four fingers. “What’s the matter?”
Upon seeing Frederick’s handsome face, the girl’s heart skipped a beat. Her tone softened as she spoke, “Would you like to join us for the bonfire party?”
Frederick raised an eyebrow and glanced at the rearview mirror. “Are you going?”
The girl froze for a moment before noticing another person in the backseat.
She stared at the man’s face, her eyes wide.
Although the car’s interior lights were off, the ambient light was enough to see clearly.
From her angle, the man’s features were smooth, with a sharp jawline and defined angles.
His eyebrows were thick, slanted in a way that exuded natural authority. His nose was straight, and his eyes were deep-set, dark and intense, like a black hole. A single glance would pull you in without you even realizing it.
The girl was stunned, not hearing anything Frederick said.
It wasn’t until Frederick opened the door and stepped out that he spoke. “He’s not coming, but I will.”
Seeing the girl still frozen, Frederick shot her a cold look. “What are you staring at?”
The girl snapped back to reality, hastily stepping back to clear the space by the door.
Once Frederick got out and closed the door, she turned to Alexander inside the car and said, “Handsome, you’re really not coming? Your friend’s going, and you’re just staying in the car alone—it’s cold and lonely...”
Alexander immediately rolled up the window.
The girl, unwilling to give up, turned to Frederick and said, “Hey, don’t you think you should persuade your friend? How can you let him stay alone in the car?”
Frederick replied indifferently, “He wants to stay in there. What does it have to do with us?”
The girl: “...”
Are you really friends?
Vivienne’s POV
By the campfire, I saw Frederick Montgomery, who claimed to be on a self-drive trip, thank the guide. After looking around, he nodded at me.
I stared at him in confusion, then glanced around, unsure why he was nodding at me.
Then, I heard a girl beside me whisper to her friend, "Holy shit! This guy is so handsome. He really speaks to my heart. He has this wild, free-spirited charm that’s just irresistible."
Her friend glanced at Frederick and replied with a hint of regret, "There’s another man in the car who’s even more handsome—the kind of handsome that commands respect. He has this air of authority, like someone powerful and untouchable. I tried to get him to come out, but he wouldn’t."
Her friend’s eyes widened. "Oh my god! Really?? Should we go over again? I want to see the even more handsome guy!"
The girl glanced over at the black sedan. "I’m not brave enough. He looks like he’s hard to talk to."
"Alright." Her friend also glanced at the car and dropped the idea.
Listening to their conversation, I couldn’t help but think—Frederick was so handsome, no wonder he caught so many people’s attention.
Frederick wasn’t shy about interacting with people. Many tourists approached him, asking where he was from and how old he was, like they were interrogating him.
Frederick answered what he could, and for the rest, he just made small talk to avoid the question.
Someone asked if he was here for work or vacation.
He replied casually, "Work, vacation."
"Which one is it—work or vacation?"
Frederick seemed reluctant to explain, so he casually said, "I came with a friend. He’s going through some emotional turmoil and wanted to get away, so he asked me to come with him and paid me."
His tone carried a hint of meaning as he suddenly flashed a smile at me.
I froze for a moment, feeling as if he knew me.
Didn’t he say his home was in Virellia City? He must have seen me in the news. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
A tourist expressed enviously, "Your friend sounds amazing. Can you introduce him to me? I’d love to have a friend like that. Hahaha!"
The girl and her friend exchanged glances, clearly deducing that the man in the car was Frederick’s friend. They sighed silently, wondering how lucky she must be to have both wealth and beauty—why couldn’t they have that kind of opportunity?
Another tourist asked curiously, "Wow, your friend must be really wealthy. He’s not the type to fool around with women, so why would he get hurt emotionally?"
The girl’s boyfriend punched him lightly. "What’s that supposed to mean? So, if you had money, you’d just sleep around with women?"
"No, no... let me explain!" The tourist hastily tried to backpedal.
Frederick lazily crossed his legs and replied in a low voice, "He’s known his wife for ten years. He loves her dearly. Recently, she divorced him, and he couldn’t handle it. He’s been drinking and smoking nonstop."
Although the tourists had never seen Alexander, the girl seemed to catch on and asked in confusion, "Your friend is so handsome and wealthy, why did his wife divorce him?"
I couldn’t help but feel curious too.
From the conversation between the girl and her friend, it seemed Frederick’s friend was even more handsome, and because of emotional pain, he asked Frederick to accompany him on this trip, even paying him—obviously, he wasn’t lacking in money.
Frederick casually cracked sunflower seeds and answered nonchalantly, "Because the girl didn’t love him."
The girl gasped and asked, "If she didn’t love him, why marry him?"
Frederick shrugged and shook his head. "I don’t know. I heard she was forced into it."
The girl sighed. "Your friend is really unfortunate."
Then, she whispered to her friend, "Such a perfect, handsome guy. Why didn’t I meet him? If I had, I’d give him everything!"
I thought the same. It was rare to find someone wealthy and loyal, especially someone as handsome and devoted as Frederick’s friend.
Somehow, my thoughts drifted to Alexander.
He was handsome too, and quite devoted.
But his devotion was to Isabella.
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly to myself. Alexander was so devoted to Isabella.
I remembered when I first came to H. Dynasty, Alexander and Isabella were already together.
It had been ten years since, and he still loved her.
If it weren’t for Grandpa’s situation, he and Isabella would have married by now.
So, I couldn’t help but envy Frederick’s friend’s wife. She had received her husband’s love.
If only Alexander had loved me like that back then...
I suddenly stopped myself, not daring to think further.
I had promised myself to let go, and now was not the time to think of Alexander.
