My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 130
Other’s POV
Delilah returned home and tossed her bag onto the sofa.
Miles Blackwood still wasn’t back, probably off somewhere sweet-talking another woman!
Just then, Miles’ secretary entered, holding a file. "Ma’am."
“Miles isn’t home,” she replied flatly.
“I know. The BOSS asked me to deliver this file to the study.”
“Oh,” Delilah answered absentmindedly.
The secretary headed upstairs.
“What’s the file about?” Delilah asked, her curiosity piqued.
Given Miles’ usual behavior—always absent from work—what important file could possibly need to be delivered to the house?
The secretary hesitated for a moment, quickly hiding the file behind him. "Nothing special, just a routine document."
Delilah eyed him suspiciously but said nothing. She waved her hand dismissively.
The secretary sighed in relief, placed the file in the study, and left.
Delilah watched him leave, a nagging feeling rising in her chest, as if he was hiding something from her.
She grabbed the watering can and went to water the plants in the study, casually glancing at the desk. She didn’t see the file in the secretary’s hands.
That only made Delilah even more curious.
She set the watering can aside and began searching through the desk drawers.
Finally, she found the file at the very bottom of the third drawer.
She opened it, and her pupils instantly dilated. Her expression froze.
Inside the file was a DNA test result.
It stated that Sample A and Sample B were biologically father and daughter.
It seemed like a private test, as the identities of Sample A and Sample B weren’t listed.
But, seeing that this test was on Miles’ desk, it was clear that Sample A was none other than Miles himself!
Miles had a secret daughter!
Delilah’s rage surged like wildfire, her body trembling with anger. He could fool around as much as he wanted, but now he had a child and was out there competing with her and her daughter for the family inheritance.
"F**k!" Delilah cursed under her breath.
She needed to confront Miles about this.
Delilah immediately pulled out her phone to call him but then paused.
She thought for a moment, took note of the testing agency’s name and the date on the test, then returned the file to its place before hurrying off to the hospital.
“Miles, that heartless bastard! His own daughter’s in the hospital, and he doesn’t even come to see her, but he’s out there fooling around! He’s going to end up dying in some woman’s arms one day!” Delilah muttered angrily as she entered the ward.
Isabella, her head pounding, groaned, “Mom, why are you here again?”
“Isn’t it for you?! I just found out today that your dad has a love child on the side. Soon, the two of us are going to be kicked out of the family!” Delilah gritted her teeth.
“What happened? Tell me everything!” Isabella said, her expression serious.
Even if her father was useless, at least he still had some shares. As the Blackwood family’s business grew, those shares were becoming increasingly valuable. The Blackwood family wouldn’t have reached its current position without the partnership with Vanguard Global Enterprises, and that was thanks to her efforts!
Those shares were hers in the future!
Though they were nothing compared to what Vanguard Global Enterprises had, she would never let them go without a fight!
Delilah recounted what had happened. “I had a feeling that secretary was hiding something, and I was right! But I still don’t know who that little slut in the test is. If I find out, I swear I’ll skin her alive!”
“The fewer people who know about this, the better. I’m guessing only his secretary knows. He should know who it is.”
Isabella thought for a moment, then took out her phone and dialed a number.
The call was answered quickly, and a female voice on the other end sounded surprised and flattered. “Miss Isabella, what’s the matter? Is there a problem with Callum’s work?”
The girl was Callum’s girlfriend, someone Isabella had once tried to get close to, but who Isabella had found unworthy of her attention.
“No, it’s not work-related. How are things between you two?”
The girl paused for a moment. “Oh, we’re great. He’s even planning to propose to me!”
“Is that so...”
"Miss Isabella, is something wrong?"
"I don’t even know if I should tell you. On the 17th, I saw him with a woman. Then it seemed like he took something and went to the private Riverstone Medical Center, to the WIC..."
"What? Callum, that scumbag, actually dared to cheat?! I’ll go find him and get the truth!" The girl, not suspecting that Isabella might be lying, immediately believed her.
"Wait, I’m just giving you a heads-up—there might be a misunderstanding! Don’t tell him I told you."
The girl quickly replied, "I understand, thank you for the warning, Miss Isabella. I won’t betray you!"
After ending the call with Isabella, the girl immediately dialed Callum’s number. "Callum, be honest with me. Do you have someone else?"
"Baby, don’t accuse me. When have I ever been with someone else?"
"How am I accusing you? My friend saw you with a woman on the 17th, hugging and everything. She got worried you were cheating on me, so she followed you and saw you going into the WIC at the hospital. Are you telling me you knocked her up? Explain yourself!"
"What do you mean, ’with a woman’? What are you talking about, ’knocked her up’? That’s not true!"
"Are you sure? My friend has no reason to lie. I’m going to Riverstone Medical Center to check..."
"Wait! Baby, I remember now!"
Hearing "Riverstone Medical Center," Callum’s heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t let her go investigate.
"Well, hurry up and tell me!"
"On the 17th... it was all just a misunderstanding! I was passing by Silverwood Avenue, deep in thought, not paying attention to the road. I almost got hit by a car, and when I tried to dodge, I bumped into a woman. There was no hugging, nothing like that. If you don’t believe me, ask your friend!"
"Then why did you go to the WIC?"
"I didn’t go to the WIC! Your friend must’ve seen wrong! I was injured when I fell, so I went to get my bones checked."
"Really? You’re not lying to me, are you? If I find out you’re lying..."
"Baby, I could never lie to you!"
"..." Thinking about how Miss Isabella had specifically called to warn her, the girl felt secretly pleased. Maybe she could become friends with Miss Isabella.
After clearing up the misunderstanding, the girl called Isabella back. "Miss Isabella, thank you for the heads-up. Did you see Callum on Silverwood Avenue?"
Isabella answered smoothly, "Yes."
"Oh, it was all a misunderstanding! Callum almost got hit by a car, and when he tried to dodge, he accidentally knocked over that woman. He just helped her up, and then went to the hospital to check his injuries. He doesn’t know that woman."
"I see, it was just a misunderstanding. That’s good. I wish you and Callum everlasting happiness."
After saying that, Isabella hung up the phone.
"What’s the point of asking about all this?" Delilah rolled her eyes.
"Could it really be that coincidental? Callum just happened to bump into a woman right before going to the hospital?"
"You mean that woman is..."
Realizing this, Delilah’s anger flared. "Miles has been hiding this from me for at least ten years! That heartless jerk!"
This also explained why Miles chose to do a DNA test. If the child in the report was from his mistress, whom he’d been keeping for the past few years, he wouldn’t have needed a test.
Isabella didn’t have time to listen to her complaints. She had someone pull the surveillance footage from Silverwood Avenue on the 17th.
The video was soon sent to Isabella’s phone.
She played it at double speed, and once she spotted Callum’s figure, she slowed it down to 0.5x speed.
Isabella and Delilah held their breath as they watched, seeing the scene that Callum had described.
Delilah pointed at the woman who had been knocked down by Callum, shouting, "It’s her! It has to be her! I saw Callum reach for her head when he knocked her down—he must’ve pulled her hair!"
When the camera showed the woman’s face, Isabella paused the video, using two fingers to zoom in.
The video was unclear, but the facial features were vaguely familiar!
Delilah squinted her eyes, then suddenly shouted, "Vivienne!"
