My Billionaire Husband Claimed Me His Precious-Chapter 796 - 715: Putting on an Act
Old Sir Lu said a few simple words, raised his glass, and the four of them symbolically picked up their own glasses. But it was all just out of courtesy to him.
Lu Qing didn’t cast a proper glance the entire time. In contrast, Lu Xing kept occasionally paying attention to the interactions between Lu Qing and Qin Miaomiao.
"You see how others are serving food to each other, why don’t you serve me some?"
Mo Wenwan leaned close to Lu Xing’s ear and spoke. Her expression soured as she noticed him staring at Qin Miaomiao. But since they were at the dining table, she couldn’t act out, so she quietly reminded him.
Lu Xing noted Mo Wenwan’s tone, which was entirely that of a girlfriend. As he looked at Mo Wenwan’s smile, he realized she was playing her role a bit too seriously. He kindly reminded her, "Don’t get too deep into the act, or you might not be able to pull yourself out later."
"Relax, I know what I’m doing."
Lu Xing spoke as he picked up a piece of rib and placed it in Mo Wenwan’s bowl.
Qin Miaomiao had been secretly observing the two of them all along. They seemed to be quite lovey-dovey, but she knew exactly what kind of person Mo Wenwan was—and what kind of person Lu Xing was.
Were they really a couple?
Unlikely. But this had nothing to do with her.
She lifted her gaze to look at Lu Qing, used a tissue to wipe the corner of her mouth, and quietly said:
"I’m full."
Lu Qing looked at her lovingly. "You’ve only had so little? Here, drink the soup."
Qin Miaomiao had no choice but to pick up the bowl again. Even though neither of them exchanged sweet nothings, the genuine interactions and warmth between husband and wife were plain for all to see.
Especially since Lu Qing didn’t glance at anyone else—including Mo Wenwan, as if she were invisible. He didn’t so much as give her a quick look.
It felt as if Qin Miaomiao were the entirety of Lu Qing’s world, and no one else could command his attention!
On the way back, it was Lu Xing who drove Mo Wenwan home. The two didn’t exchange a single word.
Suddenly, Lu Xing turned the car into a quiet park and stopped the engine. He turned to Mo Wenwan and said, "Tell me the truth—did you overdo your acting at the dinner table just now?"
"Are you implying I didn’t do a good job? I saw Old Sir Lu watching us and smiling, which means my performance wasn’t wasted," Mo Wenwan said, without feeling she’d gone overboard at all.
Lu Xing studied Mo Wenwan closely, and it became clear she had taken things seriously at the dinner table. He had previously thought she at least understood decorum, but tonight she truly seemed to adopt the role of the Lu Family’s granddaughter-in-law. Even her casual remarks were bolder than Qin Miaomiao’s. Acting so naturally only made it look exaggerated.
"I don’t know how impressive Miss Mo’s acting skills are. But I hope that in the future, don’t act too over-the-top in front of Old Sir Lu. What makes a woman truly charming is authenticity."
"So you’re saying I’m not charming? Who do you think is charming then—Qin Miaomiao?"
Mo Wenwan suddenly brought up Qin Miaomiao, which irritated Lu Xing. His previously calm gaze turned sharp. He turned back and glared at Mo Wenwan with a sour expression: "What are you trying to say?"
"I’m saying what Mr. Lu is thinking right now. I’m not stupid, and I believe Lu Qing has noticed it too. Are you interested in Qin Miaomiao?"
Lu Xing sneered. "I have no idea what you’re talking about."
"You can avoid my question, but what I saw with my own eyes can’t be faked, can it?"
Mo Wenwan’s confident words struck a particularly jarring chord with Lu Xing, as if she had seen through something.
"Miss Mo... No, from now on I’ll just call you by your name. How about Wenwan?"
Hearing Lu Xing’s words, Mo Wenwan couldn’t help but have some different thoughts. Initially curious about Lu Xing, her feelings shifted when she noticed the playful smile on his face.
"Is it possible you find me very interesting now?"
