My beautiful CEO wife-Chapter 1609: Rob III’s Plot
Dracula smiled and said, "If I have deceived His Majesty, let me die here."
Rob III pondered silently.
The High Priest suddenly shouted angrily, "Dracula, do you think we would fall for such a simple plot? Using the Netherworld King as bait to lure us into your Blood Clan’s trap, even a three-year-old could see through it!"
Having endured the pressure from Rob III earlier, Dracula was much calmer in front of the High Priest. After all, the High Priest was not as terrifying as Rob III. He smiled and said, "If this were truly a simple plot, why would I come here myself? Wouldn’t that be like a lamb entering a tiger’s den?"
The High Priest sneered and said, "Perhaps your Blood Clan has collectively turned into fools for some reason."
"Enough of this bickering." Rob III awakened from his thoughts, staring at Dracula with a terrifying gleam in his eyes, saying, "You’ve come here with only words, without evidence. How can I trust you?"
Rob III’s voice turned cold, "Only if you can provide sufficient evidence and explain your reason for betraying the Netherworld King will I believe you."
It seemed that Dracula had already thought it all through, and he replied unhurriedly, "The Netherworld King is a hybrid of the Human Clan and the Blood Clan. To all of us in the Blood Clan, she is an awkward existence; there are simply too many Blood Clan members who wish to kill her, more than one can count. However, the Netherworld King’s powers are too strong, and no one dares to take the risk of going against her."
"Though no one dares to act, the Netherworld King is aware of this sentiment. Therefore, she holds no good feelings towards us Blood Clan members. But we are many in number and powerful, so she does not dare to act rashly, and thus both sides maintain a balance."
"Now, the opposition between us Blood Clan members and the Netherworld King has intensified further. Nicola and Vlad were slain by the Evil God during the Eastern Crusade, weakening our Elder Council significantly. If the Netherworld King were to act against us, we would have no way to resist."
Dracula looked at Rob III, "Now, do you think our reasons for acting are sufficient?"
Rob III revealed a slight smile, "You Blood Clan members are known for internal strife, so I believe you."
Dracula’s expression darkened for a moment, but he dared not argue with Rob III. He took out an ancient book from his bosom and handed it to the High Priest to pass on to Rob III.
Dracula said, "As for evidence, Your Majesty, read the records in this ancient Blood Clan tome, and you’ll understand."
Rob III opened the book and saw the words recorded there about hybrids of the Blood Clan and the Human Clan losing all their powers on the night of the full moon, causing his pupils to contract sharply.
Then, he burst into laughter.
"Heaven helps me!"
Rob III laughed heartily and said, "If I can kill the Netherworld King, my achievements will be on par with the great ancestors in the history of the Werewolf Clan!"
Dracula let out a sigh of relief, then smiled. Although he had gone through many perils, he had finally succeeded.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes.
"Oh, Netherworld King, this time you’re destined to die at the hands of Rob III. Once you fall, as the strongest in the Blood Clan, I will ascend to the throne of Netherworld King, becoming the ruler of all Blood Clan!"
After laughing, Rob III looked at Dracula, and a peculiar smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.
Dracula had been indulging in the fantasy of his triumphant days after the Netherworld King’s fall, but Rob III’s gaze made his heart skip a beat, filling him with unease.
"Ro..." He immediately began to speak, but just as he uttered a single syllable, Rob III raised his hand, signaling him to be quiet.
"Dracula."
Rob III said slowly, "Although you’ve come this time with sincerity, evidence, and reasons, I still cannot fully trust you. Therefore, before the Netherworld King is eliminated, I’ll need you to stay in my valley for some time."
"What?"
Upon hearing these words, Dracula immediately became anxious and hurriedly said, "Your Majesty, you cannot do this! If I stay here, it will surely arouse the Netherworld King’s suspicion, and the plan might fail!"
Rob III nodded and said, "What you say makes some sense. My earlier thoughts were a bit rash."
Dracula sighed in relief. However, Rob III’s subsequent words made every hair on his body stand on end.
"Then let’s do it this way: I’ll give you a poison to swallow. This poison will take effect after some time, and once it does, it will be fatal, with no medicine or doctor able to cure it." Rob III said with a smile, "I’ll give it to you now, and after the Netherworld King is killed, I’ll provide the antidote, okay?"
Dracula smiled wryly and said, "Can I say it’s not okay?"
Rob III laughed heartily, "Of course you can’t."
Dracula said, "What if, after we successfully kill the Netherworld King, you don’t give me the antidote? If that happens, I would die in vain!"
Rob III said indifferently, "Who do you think Rob III is? What right do you have to suspect me of deceiving you?"
These words were full of arrogance, but after hearing them, Dracula felt at ease. Although Rob III was a fearsome enemy, Dracula had never heard of him breaking a promise, not even with enemies.
"I was overthinking earlier and offended Your Majesty." Dracula bowed and said, "I am willing to swallow that poison as a means to gain Your Majesty’s trust."
Rob III glanced at the High Priest.
The High Priest took out a round pill from his pocket and handed it to Dracula, saying, "You’re fortunate. Such poison is not something just anyone is qualified to take."
Dracula smiled wryly and said, "That is truly my honor," though in his heart, he cursed Rob III countless times.
Dracula was already somewhat regretful. He shouldn’t have come here so rashly. He had some ties with the Werewolf Clan, but the Blood Clan and the Werewolf Clan were ultimately two different clans. Apart from allowing him to meet Rob III, those ties were of no help. He still had to obediently ingest the poison.
"To achieve great things, what endeavor comes without risk?" After taking the poison, Dracula’s eyes turned ruthless, thinking secretly, "As long as I can kill the Netherworld King, I will wield immense power, and at that time, all the current sacrifices will be worth it."
Upon seeing Dracula take the poison, Rob III said, "Alright, let’s discuss how to eliminate the Netherworld King. Where might she go on the full moon night when her powers dissipate..."
That night, Dracula and Rob III discussed throughout the night, formulating a very detailed plan before finally parting ways.
