Chapter 612: A Black Bead

Wen Kang waited until the captain and the prison guard disappeared from his sight before he took out a small bone whistle.

Facing the only small window on the wall, he blew the whistle while staring at the morning sky.

Pwii~!

The high-frequency sound traveled farther the second he blew the bone whistle.

A few seconds later, a cold gush of wind blew into the prison cell.

When the cold wind dissipated, a cold, playful voice echoed in the silent, dark prison cell, "What a rare customer. Ex-Prime Minister of the Yu Empire, what is your wish today?"

Turning around, Wen Kang looked at the masked man. Clenching the bone whistle in his hand, he replied, "Envoy, I want the Hong Sha Pavilion to help me contact someone."

Raising his brows slightly, the envoy asked, "Who do you want to contact?"

Wen Kang took out a small jade pendant hidden in his sleeve pocket. Handing it to the envoy, he said, "Give this to Fang Shou. He will know what to do."

Opening his palm, the envoy watched as Wen Kang placed the jade pendant on his palm. Closing his palm, he raised his eyes to look at Wen Kang.

"Master Wen, you do know our rules. What will you use in exchange for this time’s task?" the envoy asked with a hint of curiosity in his cold voice.

Reaching into his sleeve pocket, Wen Kang took out a shiny, black bead. Showing it to the envoy, he asked, "Is this enough?"

The second the envoy saw the black bead, surprise flickered inside his pair of cold eyes. Putting away his playful behavior, the envoy reached toward it.

However, before he could touch the black bead, Wen Kang closed his palm.

Looking at Wen Kang, the envoy frowned slightly and asked with a hint of displeasure in his voice, "Master Wen, what do you mean by this?"

"I need the contract before I can hand this to you," Wen Kang said calmly.

The envoy fell into silence when he heard this. After a brief moment of silence, the corner of his lips curved up slightly.

Retracting his hand, the envoy said, "As expected of Master Wen. You are really meticulous in doing things."

Sitting back on the wooden table, the envoy took a piece of bamboo out of his sleeve pocket. Biting his index finger, he used his blood as ink and wrote something on the bamboo piece.

After signing his codename, the envoy showed the bamboo piece to Wen Kang. With a cold smile on his thin lips, he said, "Master Wen, please sign the blood contract."

Without hesitation, Wen Kang bit his index finger, then used his blood as ink and signed his name beside the envoy’s codename.

When he was done, the envoy threw the bamboo piece into the air. Before the bamboo piece could fall down, the envoy drew his sword.

Slash! Crack!

In a swift movement, he split the bamboo piece into two identical pieces, then sheathed his sword. Opening his hand, he let the two pieces of bamboo fall onto his palm.

Thud. Thud.

Putting away the piece with Wen Kang’s name on it, the envoy threw the other piece with his codename signed on it to Wen Kang.

Just when Wen Kang caught the bamboo piece, a gush of wind suddenly hit him, forcing him to close his eyes.

In the next second, the envoy’s cold voice echoed in the dark cell, "When the mission is complete, someone will come to retrieve the blood contract."

Opening his eyes, Wen Kang noticed that the envoy had disappeared. Clenching the half of the blood contract tightly, he looked up at the small window.

Staring at the bright sky outside, Wen Kang muttered coldly, "Whoever betrays me must die."

While Wen Kang was waiting for the right time to strike back, the envoy left Heaven Prison at ease as if he were walking around his own garden. Seeing that it was long past breakfast time, the envoy let out a helpless sigh.

Rubbing his growling stomach, he resignedly opened the small leather pouch tied to his waist. Taking out a cold, dried pancake, he took a bite and sighed again.

While he was chewing the hard pancake, the envoy found a hidden place to eat.

Sitting on the rooftop of the highest building in the imperial capital city, the envoy reached into the leather pouch, then took out the small shiny black bead.

He raised the black bead against the sun, then narrowed his eyes, trying to take a closer look at what was inside the bead.

A few seconds later, surprise, shock, and disbelief flashed across his cold eyes.

Unable to believe what he just saw, the envoy brought the small bead closer. This time, he clearly saw a black dragon’s figure flying inside the small black bead.

At this sight, his jaw dropped, and the half-eaten pancake fell to his lap.

Rubbing his eyes, the envoy muttered in disbelief, "Heaven... Is what was written in that old book real?"

Although he didn’t believe what was written in the old book, the envoy had no choice but to believe his own eyes.

Thoughtfully staring at the black bead, he swallowed the pancake in his mouth as he fell into deep thought.

A few moments later, he picked up the fallen pancake, put it back into his leather pouch, and then stood up.

Clenching the black bead tightly, he thought for a second before putting it into the leather pouch. After that, he activated his lightness skill and then disappeared from the rooftop.

Leaving the imperial capital city, the envoy arrived at a secluded outskirt area. He scanned the area for a while, then took out a special bone flute after making sure that he was alone.

Circulating his internal energy, the envoy played the bone flute skillfully.

Fwi~!

As the melodious sounds created from his internal energy gushed out from the bone flute, a gush of wind rose, bringing dust with it. With the envoy as the center, the wind kept blowing outward.

Half a minute later, the envoy suddenly stopped playing the bone flute. Just when he put it away, a masked man landed in front of him.
