My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 548: Enemy’s Attack
Turning around, Zhan Qi and Tuluo Cheng clasped their fists and greeted Feng Xiyan. "Great General." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Raising his hand to signal them to stand at ease, Feng Xiyan calmly walked to the wall and accepted the night-vision binoculars from Zhan Qi.
Looking into the distance, Feng Xiyan spotted Wu Ruizhan at a glance. He observed Wu Ruizhan and his generals, then swept his gaze over the Jin Army soldiers.
After a brief moment of observation, Feng Xiyan lowered the night-vision binoculars and instructed, "Sound the war drum."
Standing behind the war drum, a soldier responded, "Yes, Great General."
Following Feng Xiyan’s order, the soldier grabbed the large drumsticks and struck the war drum, sounding the warning.
Dum! Duru~ Dum! Dum! Duru~ Dum! Dum! Duru~ Dum!
As the thunderous war drums echoed throughout the Yurong Border Pass Garrison and its surroundings, the patrolling soldiers quickly woke the others.
"It’s the enemy’s attack! Get ready for battle!" a soldier shouted as he rushed into the soldiers’ dormitory.
The moment his words fell, the soldiers sprang up from their sleeping mats, quickly putting on their armor and grabbing their weapons.
In less than two minutes, more than fifty thousand soldiers were fully prepared and lined up neatly on the open field inside the garrison.
While they waited for further instructions, Hua Yuyu and his team were also awakened by the sound of the war drums.
Sitting up from his folding bed, Hua Yuyu glanced at his brothers before looking out the window.
Hearing the faint commotion outside, he frowned slightly and said, "It’s the enemy’s attack. Get ready to support Brother Feng."
Sobering up, Wu Jun and the others quickly put on their clothes and responded in unison, "Yes, Captain."
Soon, they left the room they were using as a bedroom and headed to the control room, located beside the meeting room.
While everyone was preparing for war, Shi Yi sat on top of the rooftop of one of the mansions in the garrison city, gazing toward the city wall with a slight frown.
Just as he was pondering whether to wake Bai Hanyun or not, the bedroom door creaked open, and Bai Hanyun stepped out.
Glancing at the rooftop, she said calmly, "Shi Yi, let’s go take a look."
Leaping down from the rooftop, Shi Yi stood beside her and nodded.
To save time, Bai Hanyun reached out to him and ordered, "Carry me."
Startled by her command, Shi Yi froze. A few seconds later, he took two steps back, clasped his fists, and lowered his head.
"Fairy Bai, this is not appropriate."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun couldn’t help but think, ’Tsk! These ancient rules are really troublesome.’
Although that was what she thought, Bai Hanyun didn’t press the matter. Instead, she turned around and hurried away.
Seeing that she didn’t insist, Shi Yi secretly let out a sigh of relief and quickly followed her.
Standing outside the mansion, Bai Hanyun took out an electric scooter and sat on it. Without waiting for Shi Yi, she started the engine and sped toward the city wall.
Watching Bai Hanyun nimbly maneuver through the ruins, Shi Yi activated his lightness skill and swiftly followed her.
While Bai Hanyun was on her way, Hua Yuyu and the others had already gathered in the control room.
Standing behind Wu Jun, Hua Yuyu and the others stared at the large screen as Wu Jun pulled up the surveillance camera feeds.
The moment the feeds outside the wall appeared on the screen, Bao Shengjie sucked in a sharp breath.
"Oh my God! Look at all those people! This is the first time I have seen so many people gathered in one place!"
Unlike Bao Shengjie’s shock, Hua Yuyu and the others showed no reaction.
After observing the situation for a moment, Hua Yuyu glanced at Bao Shengjie and ordered, "Shengjie, go deliver a walkie-talkie to Brother Feng."
"Alright." Grabbing a fully charged walkie-talkie from the cabinet placed in the corner, Bao Shengjie hurried out.
After he left, Hua Yuyu turned to the others and said, "We might need to join the battle today. Prepare for the worst."
Knowing they were heavily outnumbered, everyone nodded solemnly. "Yes, Captain."
With that, Hua Yuyu led the others to pick their weapons and armor from the boxes.
While they were busy, Wu Jun didn’t waste any time. He picked up a military drone, put on the vision goggles, and powered it on. Viewing the virtual scene projected through the goggles, he controlled the military drone as it flew out.
Just as Bao Shengjie spotted Feng Xiyan, he heard the familiar hum of drones overhead.
Looking up, he saw the newest military drone Hua Yuyu had purchased and exclaimed, "Ah! Brother Wu is unfair! He promised to let me try it first, but he actually broke his promise!"
Unwilling to miss his chance to try the new military drone, Bao Shengjie ran even faster toward Feng Xiyan. Seeing Feng Xiyan standing by the wall, his eyes lit up.
Waving the walkie-talkie at him, Bao Shengjie shouted excitedly, "Brother Feng!"
Hearing Bao Shengjie’s shout, Feng Xiyan turned around and saw him running toward him.
"Brother Bao, why are you here? This place is not safe. You should go back," Feng Xiyan said as he watched Bao Shengjie panting like a drowning dog.
Shoving the walkie-talkie into Feng Xiyan’s hand, Bao Shengjie said breathlessly, "This—this is for you."
Without saying anything more, Bao Shengjie turned around and hurried back toward the control room.
Holding the walkie-talkie, Feng Xiyan watched helplessly as Bao Shengjie disappeared from sight. Lowering his gaze, he turned on the walkie-talkie.
Watching everything through the military drone, Wu Jun said, "Captain, Shengjie has delivered the walkie-talkie to Brother Feng."
Hua Yuyu paused for a second, then replied, "Got it."
After strapping a military dagger to his thigh, Hua Yuyu walked to the table, picked up another walkie-talkie, and turned it on.
He adjusted the frequency and asked, "Brother Feng, can you hear me?"
