Chapter 547: Wu Ruizhan

Receiving everyone’s attention, Ouyang Zhuangyu smiled faintly. "Judging from everyone’s expressions, you are more worried about them than the Jin Empire’s Army, am I right?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Tuluo Cheng nodded. "This young master, can you truly find the Dizhu Tribe’s location?" he asked with a hint of hope and anticipation in his polite tone.

Ouyang Zhuangyu chuckled lightly. "I won’t claim to be a master of warfare. However, when it comes to information gathering—if I say I’m second, no one would dare claim first."

Seeing his confidence, Tuluo Cheng raised his eyebrows slightly. "This young master is truly confident."

Turning to Feng Xiyan, he clasped his fists and bowed slightly. "Great General, since this young master has said so, why not give him a chance to prove himself?"

Before Feng Xiyan could respond, Ouyang Zhuangyu spoke calmly, "Military Advisor Tuluo, I don’t need to prove myself to you. I’m helping because of Miss Bai and Brother Feng, not because I seek recognition from you or the generals."

Hearing this, Tuluo Cheng studied Ouyang Zhuangyu more carefully, his brows slowly knitting together.

’I can’t read him at all... This young master is harder to deal with than Young Master Hua or Young Master Wu.’

Seeing no objections, Hua Yuyu said, "Alright. Then it’s decided. Zhuangyu will help you locate the Dizhu Tribe, in exchange for you staying away from our affairs."

Knowing that Hua Yuyu’s group meant no harm, Feng Xiyan agreed without hesitation.

"That’s natural." Clasping his fists, Feng Xiyan saluted them. "Thank you for your help, brothers."

Returning the salute, Hua Yuyu said, "Brother Feng, we still have things to do, so we will take our leave. We will stay in the garrison tonight. Please don’t let anyone disturb us."

"Alright."

After Hua Yuyu and his team left, Feng Xiyan turned to Tuluo Cheng.

"Military Advisor Tuluo, this general knows you are wary of Brother Hua and the others. This is not wrong. However, they are Yun’er’s personal bodyguards. I hope you can put aside your suspicions."

Seeing Zhan Qi and the others looking at him, Tuluo Cheng sighed helplessly and clasped his fists. "This subordinate understands."

"Good. It’s getting late. Everyone, go back and rest well. We still have many things to do tomorrow," Feng Xiyan said, waving his hand.

Bowing at him, Zhan Qi and the others replied in unison, "This subordinate takes his leave."

Left alone in the meeting room, Feng Xiyan let out a long, tired sigh. Closing his eyes, he pinched the bridge of his nose. After the fatigue eased slightly, he opened his eyes and looked back at the map.

As he studied the terrain of the Yurong Border Pass, the moon slowly moved toward the western horizon. A few hours later, the sky gradually brightened.

Just as a faint hint of blue tinged the dawn sky, a soldier suddenly rushed into the meeting room.

"Report!"

Kneeling before Feng Xiyan, the soldier clasped his fists and reported, "Great General, the Jin Empire’s army was spotted twenty li outside the garrison city. General Zhan and Military Advisor Tuluo have already gone to check the situation."

Hearing the report, Feng Xiyan’s fatigue vanished completely. Without saying a word, he left the meeting room.

Standing on top of the high wall, Zhan Qi held a pair of night-vision binoculars lent to him by Hua Yuyu.

As he observed the Jin Empire’s Army in the distance, he couldn’t help but marvel at the binoculars’ ability to let him see clearly in the darkness.

After scanning for a moment, Zhan Qi’s eyes flickered when he spotted a man in his early thirties seated on the top of a tall, majestic warhorse.

"As expected. The one leading the Jin Empire’s Army this time really is Wu Ruizhan."

Handing the night-vision binoculars to Tuluo Cheng, Zhan Qi gloomily said, "Military Advisor Tuluo, you should take a look."

Accepting the night-vision binoculars, Tuluo Cheng carefully observed the Jin Empire Army’s formation.

Meanwhile, Wu Ruizhan stared at the Yurong Border Pass Garrison in the distance. Seeing that not a single soldier came out to confront them, his brows furrowed slightly.

Riding beside him, one of his trusted generals said, "Great General Wu, it looks like the Yurong Border Pass really has fallen."

While Wu Ruizhan remained silent, another general added, "Along the way, we saw many human remains and bloodstains. This subordinate thought this place must have been attacked by wild animals."

Nodding in agreement, the other generals began sharing their thoughts.

"Great General Wu, our rations can only last three more days. Now that the Yurong Border Pass has fallen, why don’t we strike while the iron is hot and capture it in one fell swoop?" asked the young general in charge of logistics.

Hearing this, another young general said, "General Chi is right. We can’t afford to waste more time here. This is the perfect opportunity to take the Yurong Border Pass without a fight."

Wu Ruizhan listened calmly to their discussion, yet his gaze never left the towering walls of the Yurong Border Pass Garrison.

Noticing that he still hadn’t spoken, the generals exchanged uncertain looks.

Just as Chi Minghao was about to speak again, Wu Ruizhan finally said, "We already missed that perfect opportunity. Look at the wall in the middle."

Following his words, all the generals turned their gazes toward the high wall in the distance. However, they couldn’t see anything in the darkness.

"Great General Wu, is there something there?" Chi Minghao asked.

After a brief moment of silence, Wu Ruizhan replied calmly, "General Zhan Qi of the Feng Army is there, looking at us."

At his words, Chi Minghao and the others were startled and immediately focused on the wall.

Standing on the wall, Tuluo Cheng handed the night-vision binoculars back to Zhan Qi and said calmly, "Wu Ruizhan has noticed us."

Zhan Qi took the night-vision binoculars and looked toward the front of the Jin Empire Army’s formation. When he found Wu Ruizhan, their eyes met.

’Can he really see us from that far away, in the darkness?’

As doubt filled Zhan Qi’s mind, he noticed Wu Ruizhan’s lips moving while his gaze remained fixed on him.

"Release the war prisoners, or we will flatten this place."

Reading Wu Ruizhan’s lip movements, Zhan Qi snorted and muttered, "Overestimating yourself."

Just as the words left his mouth, Feng Xiyan’s voice sounded from behind him. "General Zhan, Military Advisor Tuluo, how is the situation over there?"
