My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 513: Misunderstanding
Ten minutes later, Bai Hanyun and Luan Chen arrived at the dining area.
Pointing toward one of the long tables, Luan Chen said, "Young Lady, the Great General is there. This subordinate still has duties to attend to, so I won’t accompany you inside."
Bai Hanyun smiled. "Thank you, Captain Luan."
Shaking his head, Luan Chen responded, "Young Lady is too polite. This subordinate is merely doing his duty."
After Luan Chen left, Bai Hanyun walked toward Feng Xiyan. Under the curious and shocked gazes of the soldiers, she calmly approached the long table.
"Feng Xiyan," Bai Hanyun called when she saw him seated with the generals and Tuluo Cheng.
When Feng Xiyan heard her voice, he stopped eating and turned around. Seeing Bai Hanyun standing there, he asked in surprise, "Yun’er, why are you here?"
Putting down his chopsticks, Feng Xiyan hurriedly stood up and held her hands. "Did something happen at home? Are you alright?"
Watching him nervously inspect her from head to toe, Bai Hanyun felt warmth spread through her heart.
She held Feng Xiyan’s hands and said, "I’m fine. Nothing happened at home. Xiao Cui said you didn’t return last night, so I decided to come and see you today."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan was delighted. ’Does Yun’er miss me?’
While he was grinning from ear to ear, Tuluo Cheng and the generals, who were watching them, suddenly felt full.
Without saying a word, they stood up, picked up their bowls and chopsticks, and quietly left, careful not to disturb the couple.
Glancing at the half-eaten rice in Feng Xiyan’s bowl, Bai Hanyun said, "I’m sorry for disturbing your meal."
Feng Xiyan shook his head. "You could never disturb me. Have you eaten yet? Do you want to join me?"
Rubbing her stomach, Bai Hanyun replied, "Sure. I was too busy receiving deliveries and forgot to eat."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan felt a pang of heartache. Pulling her to the long wooden chair, he gently said, "Come sit down. Wait here for a moment. I will get you something to eat."
After Bai Hanyun sat down, Feng Xiyan went to the kitchen.
While waiting for him to return, Bai Hanyun scanned her surroundings. Noticing the soldiers secretly staring at her, she smiled at them.
The moment the soldiers saw her smile, their faces turned red, and they hurriedly lowered their heads.
Seeing this, Bai Hanyun sighed inwardly. ’These young men are far too innocent. No wonder people in this era need their parents to arrange marriages... they really need to go out and date.’
Just as she was lamenting the innocence of ancient people, Feng Xiyan returned carrying a tray of food.
Sitting down beside her, he placed the tray in front of Bai Hanyun and handed her a pair of chopsticks. "Eat more. You’re too skinny."
Bai Hanyun stared at the bowl of rice piled into a small mountain, along with the plates of vegetables and meat, and fell silent.
"..." Are you feeding a pig?
Seeing that she wasn’t moving her chopsticks, Feng Xiyan picked up a piece of fatty braised meat and placed it on top of her rice mountain.
Under his gaze, Bai Hanyun had no choice but to pick it up and take a small bite. She chewed twice and swallowed.
Staring at the meat, she cried inwardly, ’Please don’t let me die of high cholesterol after this meal.’
Noticing her stiff expression, Feng Xiyan asked, "You don’t like it?"
Coming back to her senses, Bai Hanyun looked at him for a moment, then placed the half-bitten piece of fatty meat into his bowl.
"You eat. I don’t like fatty meat," she said calmly.
Feng Xiyan blinked several times, staring at the meat in silence.
Realizing what she had done, Bai Hanyun hurriedly reached out to take it back.
However, before her chopsticks touched the half-eaten meat, Feng Xiyan picked it up and put it into his mouth. As he chewed, his lips curved upward.
’Yun’er gave me the delicious part. She really likes me.’ 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Unaware that her fear of dying young had caused such a misunderstanding, Bai Hanyun smiled and asked, "How is it? Do you like the fatty part?"
Feng Xiyan nodded. "It’s delicious."
Seeing that he truly enjoyed it, Bai Hanyun quickly separated the fatty portions from the lean meat.
When she was done, she pushed the plate between them. "Let’s share. You eat the fatty parts, and I will eat the lean parts."
Looking at her cheerful expression, Feng Xiyan felt deeply moved.
While they ate, Bai Hanyun lowered her voice and said, "Feng Xiyan, I have already delivered the high-carbon steel bars to the workshop. You can inform General Tan later. I delivered them secretly just in case there are spies in this city."
Feng Xiyan paused briefly, then nodded. "Alright."
Seeing that he didn’t question her further, Bai Hanyun continued, "I noticed there are more soldiers here. Are you still recruiting?"
"Yes," Feng Xiyan replied. "With the Jin Empire declaring war and the Zhou Empire waiting for an opportunity to strike, we have no choice but to strengthen ourselves."
Nodding in understanding, Bai Hanyun said, "I have already ordered ten warehouses’ worth of supplies from Boss Li. The first batch will arrive tomorrow morning. Since recruitment and construction are still ongoing, I will send half of them to you tomorrow."
"The remaining half will be used to stock up the grain and grocery stores later. If you need more supplies, you can just tell me, and I will buy more for you."
Feng Xiyan listened quietly, then asked, "About your grain and grocery store plan... Can we trust the He Clan?"
Bai Hanyun nodded. "Yes. Our cooperation is based on mutual benefit. They need me to rebuild their business empire, and I need their influence and connections. The He Clan won’t betray me."
Smiling, she added teasingly, "Besides, I still have you. With you backing me up, I don’t think the He Clan would dare betray me."
