My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 512: Who Is She?
Inside the dimly lit warehouse, Bai Hanyun saw a dozen metal boxes stacked in one corner. She scanned the area briefly before walking over.
Curious about how much material remained, she opened one of the metal boxes. Inside, she found that only a few high-carbon steel bars were left.
"The consumption rate is quite high. No wonder Feng Xiyan requested more high-carbon steel bars. I wonder how many weapons they could forge in one day." Bai Hanyun muttered thoughtfully.
After confirming the remaining quantity, Bai Hanyun stored the metal boxes in her Qiankun Pouch and walked toward the door.
Standing beside the closed door, she took out the newly purchased high-carbon steel bars and stacked them neatly. After that, she retrieved the metal boxes from her Qiankun Pouch and placed them back outside.
Looking at the neatly stacked steel bars placed behind the metal boxes, Bai Hanyun nodded in satisfaction.
While she was admiring her work, Yi Bai noticed people approaching and said, "Fairy Bai, lunchtime is over. We need to leave now."
Reminded by her words, Bai Hanyun hurriedly replied, "Alright, alright."
With Yi Bai’s help, Bai Hanyun climbed out of the warehouse through the window.
Without wasting any time, Bai Hanyun said, "Let’s go to the barracks. I have something to tell Feng Xiyan."
"Yes, Fairy Bai," Yi Bai answered as she carried Bai Hanyun away, disappearing from the area.
A few minutes after they left, four workers approached the warehouse.
"Stop right there," one of the soldiers guarding the door said, blocking them.
One of the workers took out a token from his sleeve and presented it. "Sir, we are here to transport the materials."
The soldier inspected the token, returned it, and stepped aside as he opened the door. "You may enter."
"Thank you, sir," the worker replied as he walked inside. However, the moment he saw the full warehouse, he froze on the spot.
The worker behind him failed to notice and bumped into his back.
"Ouch!" The man rubbed his nose and frowned. "Why did you suddenly stop? Can’t you—"
His words trailed off when he saw the warehouse filled with high-carbon steel bars. Recovering from the shock, he asked, "Brothers, was there a delivery today?"
The other three workers shook their heads in response.
The man frowned deeply and muttered doubtfully, "I remember there were only a few boxes left this morning. How could there be so many steel bars now?"
Hearing this, the first worker lowered his voice. "Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t. Let’s just move the materials."
Realizing they had stumbled upon something they weren’t meant to know, the others fell silent and hurriedly began loading the steel bars onto the wooden carts.
While the four workers worked nervously, Bai Hanyun and the others were already on their way to the barracks.
The distance between the workshop and the Feng Army’s barracks wasn’t far, so they arrived quickly.
Leaping down from the roof of a nearby building, Yi Bai placed Bai Hanyun on the ground and asked, "Fairy Bai, do you need us to accompany you inside?"
Knowing that the shadow guards shouldn’t appear openly, Bai Hanyun shook her head. "No need. Thank you for sending me here."
After speaking, she took out a box of spicy strips from her Qiankun Pouch and handed it to Yi Bai.
"I noticed you all like spicy strips. These are for you to share."
Yi Bai’s eyes lit up when she saw the box. She nodded and said sincerely, "Thank you, Fairy Bai."
Smiling, Bai Hanyun added, "I will go ahead then."
"Please be careful on your way, Fairy Bai."
Yi Bai and her brothers watched until Bai Hanyun reached the entrance of the barracks before disappearing.
Seeing a young woman approaching, one of the soldiers stopped her. "Young Lady, please leave. Women are forbidden from entering the barracks."
Just as Bai Hanyun was about to introduce herself, a young soldier passed by and recognized her. Taking a closer look, surprise flashed across his calm eyes.
Seeing her being blocked outside by the two soldiers, he hurried over.
"Let her in," he said as she walked up to them.
The two soldiers turned around and immediately clasped their fists when they saw the young soldier. "This subordinate greets Captain Luan."
Luan Chen nodded and ordered, "Let this Young Lady enter."
The soldiers hesitated for a moment, then one of them said, "Captain Luan, women are not allowed inside the barracks."
Seeing their stubbornness, Luan Chen pulled them aside and whispered, "Are you two courting death? Do you know who that young lady is?"
Shaking their heads, one of the soldiers asked, "Who is she?"
Luan Chen sighed and patted their shoulders. "That young lady is the Great General’s fiancée, his future wife. Tell me, by blocking her, are you seeking death or not?"
When the soldiers heard this, cold sweat ran down their backs.
Seeing their shocked expressions, Luan Chen nodded. "I’m telling the truth."
The two soldiers exchanged looks before clasping their fists. "Thank you, Captain Luan, for the reminder."
"No problem," Luan Chen replied with a smile.
Walking back to the entrance, the soldiers bowed deeply to Bai Hanyun. "Young Lady, please forgive our ignorance. You may enter."
Seeing their sudden change in attitude, Bai Hanyun raised her brows slightly and looked at Luan Chen.
Luan Chen smiled at her. "Young Lady, are you looking for the Great General?"
Bai Hanyun nodded. "Yes."
"The Great General is currently having lunch. Shall this subordinate lead you to the dining area?" Luan Chen asked politely.
After a brief moment of thought, Bai Hanyun replied, "Alright."
"Please, this way." Luan Chen said as he led the way.
After Bai Hanyun and Luan Chen left, the two soldiers exchanged glances.
Patting his chest, one muttered, "Thankfully, Captain Luan showed up at the right time. Otherwise, we would have offended our future mistress."
The other nodded in agreement and said, "We should treat Captain Luan to a meal later."
