My Anti-hero Fairy System-Chapter 53. Voltsburner
Cara took a cautious step back, her heart pounding. The magnetism between them was undeniable, but she couldn’t help questioning her own feelings. Was it genuine attraction, or the adrenaline of nearly dying combined with Joana being her savior?
Her thoughts faltered as Joana casually shrugged off her black leather jacket, revealing a fitted long-sleeve white shirt that accentuated her curves and framed her ample cleavage. The subtle movement left Cara breathless, her resolve wavering.
Joana walked to a nearby shelf and grabbed a bottle of liquor, the sound of the cap twisting open echoing in the room. She poured the golden liquid into two glasses and extended one to Cara. "I’ll bet you’ve never had a drink this exquisite before," Joana said, her tone teasing.
Cara accepted the glass, eyeing it with a smirk. "Let me guess this is your routine? Lure women to your lavish extravagant home, show them your dungeon, and then offer them fine liquor to seal the deal?"
Joana’s lips curved into a mischievous grin. "Is it working? Can I have my way with you tonight, cupcake?"
Cara took a sip of the drink, savoring the rich, velvety texture as it slid down her throat. "Wow," she said, her voice tinged with genuine surprise. "That is smooth. But to answer your question—no. It’s not working. I can resist your charms."
"Let’s see how long you can withstand me," Joana said with a playful glint in her eye.
Cara glanced around the expansive room, her curiosity piqued. "Do you live alone in this big house?"
"I do," Joana replied, leaning casually against the bar. "And I like it that way."
Cara swirled the remaining liquor in her glass. "I am guessing you never get lonely hosting a lot of parties here since you are the vampire chief of Hemridge?"
Joana chuckled. "Someone has been doing their research. Yes, I am the vampire chief, and yes, I host parties. Would you like an invitation to my next one?"
Cara raised an eyebrow, feigning disinterest. "I might think about it if you invite me."
"Still playing hard to get, huh? That’s fine. The hunt is the best part, and trust me, I’m going to enjoy every second of it," Joana said, her voice dripping with amusement.
Cara set her glass down and crossed her arms. "So, when are we heading back to the dungeon?"
Joana straightened, her playful demeanor giving way to seriousness. "We can go now. I just wanted us to recharge and keep our emotions in check, and of course drink a glass of fine liquor before we make those bastards bleed. There’s something you’ll need to extract information from them—it works every time."
Cara raised a brow. "You know I don’t need anything extra to get information from most people. I can read their minds, you know that right? All I have to do is ask a question, and their thoughts betray them and lead me to what I want to know."
Joana smirked. "Damn, you’re cocky. But this isn’t just about extracting information; it’s about getting revenge. And trust me, this device is a game changer."
"Alright, show me this ’game changer’ torture device," Cara said, her curiosity piqued.
Joana walked to a wall safe, inputting a code with swift precision. The door clicked open, and she retrieved a sleek metal baton with a wooden handle. She pressed a button on the handle, and the baton began to hum and vibrate faintly.
"This," Joana began, holding it up for Cara to inspect, "can burn skin on contact and deliver volts of electricity powerful enough to make a stun gun look like a toy. If you keep it on someone too long, the results can be... fatal."
Cara’s eyes widened, her interest unmistakable. "Wow. Where did you even get something like this? And what’s it called?"
Joana’s lips curved into a smug smile. "I had it custom-made for situations like this. I call it the *Voltsburner*."
"Aptly named," Cara said with a wicked grin. "I’m definitely going to enjoy using this on those bastards." She reached for the device.
Joana handed it over but held her gaze. "Just one condition—don’t kill Victor. He’s mine. I like to finish what I start."
Cara gripped the wooden handle of the *Voltsburner* and nodded. "You’ve got it."
Joana pressed another button, and the concealed door to the library slid open with a soft hiss. The two of them stepped inside, their footsteps echoing as Joana approached another control panel. With the press of a button, the doors to the dungeon swung open, revealing Lisa and Victor, both tied securely to steel chairs. Victor was awake now, his eyes wide with panic.
"Please!" Victor began to shout, his voice trembling. "Don’t kill me! My family—they’ll be wiped out if you do! Please, I’m begging you!"
Joana rolled her eyes, and Cara smirked as Lisa scoffed. "Pathetic," Lisa sneered. "Big for nothing. At least die with some dignity instead of groveling to these creatures."
Cara walked closer, her presence commanding the room. "Hmm, you really despise creatures like us, don’t you?" she said, her tone dripping with mockery. "I was planning to kill you eventually, Lisa, but now... I think I have a better idea."
Joana tilted her head, intrigued. "What idea is that?" she asked, crossing her arms.
Cara turned to her, her lips curling into a mischievous smile. "After I’ve had my fun with her, I want you to turn her into a vampire."
Joana’s brows lifted in surprise, but her grin returned quickly. "You want me to turn her? Interesting."
Cara leaned in toward Lisa, who was now visibly trembling, her defiance replaced with fear. "How does it feel, Lisa?" Cara said, her voice icy. "She’s going to make you into what you hate most. A vampire, a monster."
Lisa’s lips quivered, her composure cracking. "She wouldn’t... Just fucking kill me. You vile creatures can’t do this to me!" she spat, though her voice wavered.
Cara grinned, holding up the humming Voltsburner. "Oh, but she can. And she will. You’re about to get a front-row seat to your worst nightmare, bitch."
