My Aloof Husband Can't Stop His Devoted Affection-Chapter 517 - 011: sing and echo_2
"What did you say?" Listening to his mumbling, Lu Shishu squinted his eyes, raised his eyebrows, and responded unhappily.
"Nothing, just that you should come and watch the basketball game tomorrow afternoon, it starts at one-thirty in the afternoon."
"Okay, got it." Lu Shishu replied blandly, "If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. I need to go blow dry my hair."
"Alright, then. Get some sleep early, goodnight."
"Mm."
After hanging up, Lu Shishu returned to the dormitory with a smile of unclear meaning, placed the phone on the desk, and walked into the bathroom again. Since the bathroom was separated from wet and dry areas, she could blow dry her hair outside without affecting Cen Jin, who was showering inside.
Around ten in the evening, the lights went out in the dorm. Because she had slept too much during the day, Lu Shishu found herself unable to sleep at the moment, so she turned on the star lights on her bed, lay down, and began drawing in her sketchbook. While conceptualizing, Lu Shishu suddenly recalled seeing Nan Jiayan standing under the phoenix tree from a distance two days ago. He was talking to the school office director at the time, appearing somewhat unruly with a touch of mischievous charm, though she didn’t hear exactly what he said. She only felt that the director seemed a bit exasperated, eventually shaking his head and leaving. After waving the director off, Nan Jiayan leaned against the tree with one foot on the trunk, a hand in his pocket, and another holding his phone, looking down, without noticing her.
Thinking about it, Lu Shishu’s heart inexplicably skipped a beat. It felt like... a sense of attraction. She suddenly had the urge to capture this beautiful scene in her mind, but realizing that painting it would involve mixing colors, which was somewhat cumbersome, she first used a marker pen to sketch a rough outline, not paying much attention to detail.
However, after finishing, Lu Shishu still felt somewhat dissatisfied. Ultimately, she got up from the bed, turned on the desk lamp, set up the drawing board, donned her usual painting apron, and began mixing the palette.
Half-asleep Cen Jin heard the noise, lifted the curtain, and instinctively shielded her eyes from the glaring light. Seeing Lu Shishu’s gear, she was somewhat surprised: "What are you doing at this late hour, not sleeping, planning to paint?"
"Hehe! Suddenly got inspired and wanted to capture it." Lu Shishu smiled and looked at her sideways, "Go back to sleep! I only got up at noon today and spent the afternoon with my mom at the beauty salon, so I took a nap too, and now I’m just not sleepy."
"Then what do you plan to paint?"
Lu Shishu raised an eyebrow, playfully keeping it a secret: "Hehe, not telling you yet, I’ll show you after I finish."
"Alright then, get some sleep earlier, don’t stay up too late. I got up too early this morning, can’t hold on anymore, need to sleep."
"Okay, sleep tight! Goodnight."
After watching Cen Jin pull the curtain and go back to sleep, Lu Shishu took a deep breath, adjusted her palette, and began painting earnestly.
It wasn’t until around twelve-thirty midnight that Lu Shishu completed the painting. Looking at it, the scene matched exactly what she had seen in her mind, with him leaning against the tree trunk, looking down at his phone, surrounded by fallen phoenix leaves. A satisfied and sweet smile couldn’t help but form at her lips.
Lu Shishu left the painting to dry naturally, washed up, and slept. When she woke up again near eleven the next morning, she opened her eyes to find Cen Jin, He Qianyue, and Lin Xuwan sitting around the rectangular table in the middle, propping their heads with one hand, gazing at the painting by her bed. Their eyes were full of indescribable excitement.
Lu Shishu was startled by them, she sat up sharply from the bed, instinctively using the quilt to cover herself: "What are you... doing?"
"Cen Jin said this is the painting you stayed up late working on last night. May I ask, who did you paint? The person leaning against the phoenix tree?" Lin Xuwan straightened up and turned to Lu Shishu, curiously asking.
Lu Shishu glanced at the painting from the corner of her eye and was momentarily speechless. Indeed, impulsivity is the devil.
With last night’s spur-of-the-moment inspiration resulting in this painting, she now felt a bit of regret, what to do?
"I... just painted casually. Why take it so seriously? It was just a sudden burst of inspiration." Lu Shishu casually tried to brush it off, attempting to change the subject: "Speaking of which, why are you two here?"
