My Alleged Husband-Chapter 781 - 751: Sober_1
"It’s good, as long as they can wake up, for this couple it would be a joy, too," mused Yichen. "They have been through so much over the years. It would be so unfair for them to lose their lives over this, who has ever considered their feelings? No one knows what they really want, but just to have them in this world might be the greatest comfort. People want different things, and everyone’s journey in life brings different outcomes. No matter how much we have invested, a small gain in the end is something to be very grateful for!"
"Yeah, if they really can’t wake up, imagine how much it would hurt a child. They’ve never considered that. Perhaps every parent has their selfish moments, but hurting the relationship with their family over something selfish is not worth it for anyone."
"Mom, Dad, can you really bear to see your own son in so much pain here? I really hope you can wake up. Mom and Dad are slowly showing responses, why are you not yet? Why are you more injured than Mom? I really hope that both of you are safe. The person lying in the hospital, I hope so much to see how good you are, I would bear all the pain for you, but I can’t bear to see you hurt even a little bit. I don’t know why, but deep down inside, I’ve come to accept you both.
"As long as you are unharmed, it seems like all the pain I suffer doesn’t matter. I really don’t care about much; what I want is very simple. Just to live a simple life is the happiest thing for me. I’ve never pondered what kind of life I should live, everyone goes through life in their own way. I’ve lived through this over and over again, isn’t what I want simple enough?"
Zhang Yichen saw his mother’s fingers twitch and felt even more excited. He believed that his calling had greatly affected his mother. He was only concerned about his mother waking up, not worrying that his father wouldn’t. He believed there was a tacit understanding between them, a bond nobody else could break. He was convinced that if one woke up, the other would immediately follow, because it was something unique to them, something no one else could understand.
"Mom, you’re going to wake up soon, aren’t you? I believe you can’t bear to leave me here alone. You know how hard these years have been for me. I can’t take any more blows from my parents. As long as you can survive, even if it breaks my heart, I won’t hesitate, as long as you can be safe and happy. Grandpa has fallen ill, don’t you know you must wake up, wake up quickly, do you know? I am your son, the one you abandoned for so many years, but I’ve never hated you."
Hearing these words, Xia Jing’s fingers moved more frequently. She didn’t know if it was a subconscious desire deep within or something else that was driving her. She knew she had let her son down, but she wanted to immediately open her eyes to see him.
Over the years, she was most aware of how much she owed her son. She knew she might never be able to make him as happy as he was before. But everything was her own doing. Wasn’t she, as a mother, supposed to open her eyes and make it up to her child? To let her child go on in such despair, if this were the case, then did she even have the right to be his mother?
"Mom, open your eyes; please open your eyes. I am your son, and I’m here waiting for you.
"I have been here for so many days, never leaving your side, night and day. All I want is for you to wake up. Don’t you know how much I long for you to wake up? If you do, what else could matter to me?
"Please, don’t let me worry, don’t let me be sad anymore. Your waking up is more important than anything else to me. Wake up, Mom, please wake up and look at me, look at your grandson. He is so eager for his grandma to talk to him. Hurry up and wake up to see Grandpa; he’s waiting in the hospital room. He’s aged because of what happened to you both. Can you really bear to let so many of us suffer for the two of you, one after another, being admitted to the hospital?"
In that moment, Xia Jing suddenly opened her eyes and discovered how bright that moment was. It had been too long since she saw the sunlight; she couldn’t even remember. She had been living in a nightmare from which she couldn’t escape. She could hear her son’s cries, but no matter what, her eyes felt as if they weighed a ton and she couldn’t open them. She was scared; she hoped she could open her eyes to see her son and father; she wanted to hold her grandson. She knew how much she had failed over the years; she owed so much. She could not escape the accumulated guilt, and had to rely on her willpower to survive to this day. Her longing over the years was genuine, but today she finally could grasp the things she yearned for in her dreams.
When she woke up, she couldn’t remember why she argued with her husband. She remembered what she had done; she chose a constructive career and forgot the things that pained her most, remembering only her happiest memories.
Perhaps this was for the best for her. However, her son did not know, and not even she understood why her mind was a blur, remembering nothing until the doctors’ examination revealed that she had selective amnesia.
She had woken up, but her husband had not. This was a blow to everyone, but also a joy. As long as one person came to, it was a happiness. If they just continued waiting, they believed miracles would keep happening.
