My Alleged Husband-Chapter 1041 - 894 The Final Outcome_8
I spent the night hoping for the dawn to arrive. He stared at the ceiling, thinking about how every night without Xia Jing felt like torture. He really, really didn’t want to continue living like this, yearning day and night. Unable to wait for the daylight, he dashed out of the house, jumped into his BMW, and raced towards Xia Jing’s house.
Xia Jing sat at home pondering the words she spoke when she called me. She was confused about why I reconciled with him just that afternoon yet was on the phone with Li Jiayuan that night. Could their relationship be anything but ordinary?
Xia Jing kept wondering why she made a call to me, yet I thought it was Li Jiayuan calling, not even giving her a chance to speak before lashing out.
Unable to figure it out, Xia Jing decided not to think about it. She covered her head with the quilt, put on headphones, listened to music, and slowly drifted into sleep.
In her dreams, Xia Jing smiled happily, yet I was still worrying if she was mad at me for the things I said to her.
On the way, Zhang Zhentian kept thinking about how to explain everything to Xia Jing and how he could make her less angry. He sped up the car, making the night pedestrians feel he was racing a flying car; the speed was astonishing.
After a dozen minutes, Zhang Zhentian finally arrived at Xia Jing’s neighborhood. He disregarded the rules and parked recklessly on the main road, then rushed towards Xia Jing’s apartment door.
He climbed up floor after floor, reaching the sixteenth floor before arriving at Xia Jing’s doorstep. Barely catching his breath, he hurriedly banged on the door of Xia Jing’s house.
He knocked repeatedly, initially gently, but then Zhang Zhentian started pounding on the door venting frustration, yet there was no response from inside. Furious, he kicked down the door of Xia Jing’s house without caring for anything else.
I stormed into Xia Jing’s bedroom, and seeing her lying on the bed, he called her a few times, but still got no response. Zhang Zhentian could no longer suppress his anger; he strode towards Xia Jing’s bedside and abruptly pulled her up.
Originally in a dream, Xia Jing was jolted awake by Zhang Zhentian’s forceful tug. Rubbing her blurred eyes, she drowsily opened them. Finding Zhang Zhentian standing before her, she swiftly sat up, baffled as to why Zhang Zhentian, whom she hadn’t offended, would look at her with such hostility. Feeling uneasy, she turned away, not wanting to face Zhang Zhentian.
I was infuriated by Xia Jing’s action, and Zhang Zhentian shouted unceremoniously at Xia Jing, "Xia Jing, what do you mean? Not even giving me a chance to explain, are you that afraid to see me?"
Xia Jing found his words amusing and answered Zhang Zhentian without hesitation, "What do you mean ’what do I mean’? Shouldn’t I be asking you that? Zhang Zhentian, did you give me a chance to speak when I called? You inexplicably berated me; does that make sense to you? Also, have I done anything to wrong you; why should I be afraid to see you? Even if someone should be afraid, it should be you being afraid to see me, don’t you think?"
Xia Jing looked at Zhang Zhentian with a faint smile. Although Zhang Zhentian knew he was in the wrong, he did not intend to admit it. He thought to himself: Why should I be the one always admitting faults? Why does Xia Jing never have to bow down? Why should I be the one chasing her back every time she leaves the country? 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The more he thought about it, the more dissatisfied he felt. This time, he did not apologize to Xia Jing but instead spoke directly to her: "Xia Jing, what am I in your heart? Am I nothing more than a pet, coming and going at your whim? What do you want me to do to satisfy you? Do I need to dig out my heart to show you how much I care?"
As he spoke, his emotions intensified, finally roaring at Xia Jing. Xia Jing internally sneered and replied to Zhang Zhentian, "Zhang Zhentian, who do you think you are? We just reconciled in the afternoon, yet in the evening you’re on the phone with Li Jiayuan. Do you think that’s fair to me? Also, do you think I don’t care about you? Let me tell you, Zhang Zhentian, do you know why Li Jiayuan keeps calling you and pestering you? Because you’re indecisive. Do you know how it felt when you verbally attacked me, making me feel worthless? Do you know how painful it was to see you entangled with Li Jiayuan at a hotel? Do you know how much I sacrificed to be with you? Why do you only see yourself, never me? My biggest dream is to marry you, yet you treat me like what? I’ve never treated you like a pet, nor did I ever command you to come and go at my whim."
Zhang Zhentian remained silent, listening to Xia Jing’s words. When she saw he didn’t respond, she continued: "People have hearts that can feel pain. You hurt me repeatedly, aren’t you afraid one day I might truly leave you? Can’t you try to consider my feelings in your actions? I am human too and hope to live a simple life with my beloved. Is that wish so difficult? I know what you’re thinking, you must be wondering why it’s always you, Zhang Zhentian, having to apologize and not me, Xia Jing, right?"
With one sentence, Xia Jing voiced Zhang Zhentian’s inner thoughts. Feeling embarrassed, he looked at Xia Jing, and was about to explain when Xia Jing spoke again.
"Zhang Zhentian, don’t tell me you didn’t hear me when I called. I can understand missing my home call, maybe you were busy, but why did you give no chance to speak when I called your cell, immediately insulting me, and mentioning Li Jiayuan? If it were you, wouldn’t you misunderstand? I asked you when you returned home to think it through before seeking me out, and warned that if you were still entangled with Li Jiayuan, don’t blame me for truly leaving you. You disregarded my words, so, sorry..."
Hearing ’sorry’, Zhang Zhentian knew what Xia Jing intended to say next. Before she said it, he immediately replied, "Xia Jing, it wasn’t what you think, I didn’t contact Li Jiayuan. She called late at night, and I didn’t answer, she called repeatedly, and I didn’t answer. It just happened when you called I thought it was Li Jiayuan, so I lashed out. Xia Jing, please don’t be angry, okay?"
Zhang Zhentian frantically clutched Xia Jing’s hand and pleaded, but Xia Jing remained indifferent.
"Zhentian, when you emailed me, I thought you realized, but now it seems you haven’t. So I’ll give you time to figure things out. During this time, I hope you won’t come to find me, or I’ll leave here again, to somewhere no one can find."
After speaking, Xia Jing ushered Zhang Zhentian out. Seeing Xia Jing walk back into her room without looking back, he knew she was genuinely upset.
"Looks like I’ll have to wait for a while before seeking her again!" I silently turned and left.
