Chapter 100: Chapter 92 Family Harmony Promotes Prosperity_2

Xia Jing chattered by Zhentian’s ear, and after glancing at him, she pulled up the blanket to cover Zhentian and then prepared to go to sleep. Just then, Zhentian suddenly flipped over dramatically; he got up and lay on top of Xia Jing, looking down at her with an air of superiority. Xia Jing was dumbfounded, and in her heart a little voice cried out: What’s going on?

Zhentian spoke to Xia Jing, "Don’t you want to have a son with me? Why wait for later? Tonight is our wedding night, which is the best day for it, don’t you think? My dear."

Xia Jing snapped out of it and asked Zhentian, "Were you pretending to be asleep just now?"

"How did you see through me so quickly? So boring. Let’s not talk about this, we need to get to the main event quickly, otherwise the auspicious time will pass!" With that, Zhentian didn’t give Xia Jing any chance to speak and pressed himself upon her—the night was destined to be sleepless!

The next day, Old Master Zhang got up early. He asked Aunt Xu to prepare breakfast and wait for Zhentian and Xia Jing, but after waiting for about four hours, the couple still hadn’t risen. Old Master Zhang decided to go upstairs to Zhentian’s bedroom to have a look. Reaching the door, he saw no one inside and guessed that Zhentian must have run off to Xia Jing’s room in the middle of the night. Considering this, Old Master Zhang chose not to disturb the couple and decided to eat breakfast alone. By the time he finished, Zhentian and Xia Jing had also gotten up. They walked down the stairs hand in hand, and upon reaching the bottom, they saw their father sitting in the living room. As they approached Elder Zhang, before they could say anything, Old Master Zhang spoke first, "Xia Jing, tell Dad, how did you sleep last night?"

Caught off guard by her father-in-law’s first question in the morning, Xia Jing felt embarrassed, her cheeks flushing as she said to Old Master Zhang, "Dad, I slept very well!"

"As long as you slept well. Zhentian, sit down too; Dad has something he wants to tell you," Old Master Zhang gestured for Zhentian to sit on his left and Xia Jing on his right.

"Dad, please go ahead!" both husband and wife said in unison.

"Seeing how in sync you two are makes me genuinely happy. I hope you won’t overthink whatever I say next. Last night, I heard you two arguing. I personally think that no matter the issue, you shouldn’t be fighting incessantly on your wedding night. Since you two are fated to be husband and wife, you shouldn’t do anything to hurt the other. I hope you understand that hearts are made of flesh—they can ache, and emotions are not one-way—they can grow cold. Even if, in the future, you have no one else to trust, you should trust each other. I hope you haven’t forgotten the promises you made to each other at your wedding ceremony."

Zhentian and Xia Jing remained silent, feeling ashamed of their argument the night before. Old Master Zhang turned to Xia Jing and said, "Xia Jing, Dad knows last night was Zhentian’s fault; he shouldn’t have spoken to you that way. I hope you can overlook it and understand he had your best interest at heart!"

"I understand, Dad. It won’t happen again," Xia Jing said as she held Old Master Zhang’s hand.

"That’s good. And you, Zhentian, a wife is to be cherished, not suspected. I hope you will treat Xia Jing with your whole heart and also take your marriage seriously. Now that you’re married, you’re an adult. Don’t engage in childish and meaningless acts!"

"Thank you for your advice, Dad. I will keep it in mind," Zhentian said to Old Master Zhang with a look of utmost obedience on his face.

"Xia Jing, Zhentian, I don’t have any other intentions in telling you this. I just want you both to know that the Zhang family people are all very devoted. Once they make a decision, they will never regret it. I believe Zhentian has already told you this, Xia Jing, so I hope in the future you will understand each other better and not argue over every little thing. Remember: Harmony in the family makes everything prosper," Old Master Zhang said earnestly to both Zhentian and Xia Jing. They looked at each other and exchanged a smile.

Old Master Zhang was ready to leave for work, but just as he reached the front door, he turned back and said to Zhentian and Xia Jing, "I just remembered something. Zhentian, don’t go to work these few days. Stay home and keep Xia Jing company. You both should spend quality time together to foster your relationship, understand?"

Anyone with eyes could see what Old Master Zhang meant by that. Xia Jing felt so shy that she quickly turned and ran upstairs!
