My Ability Pool is Superior-Chapter 33 - 32: A Chance Encounter
"Ah ah ah!"
"Don’t run, wait for me."
"Mom, where are you..."
"Let go! Let go! Are you fucking crazy?!"
The chaos at the shelter was rapidly spreading, with people frantically fleeing in all directions. If someone fell, they would quickly get trampled under a few heavy steps.
Flames flickered out of the tents in the night, mingling with screams and roars, causing an inexplicable panic.
"This way!"
In such a situation, Tian Wang couldn’t afford to carefully distinguish directions. As soon as he found a zombie-free path, he immediately called Wu Ya and Ke Jiangni to escape together.
Upon hearing Tian Wang’s voice, the two girls also didn’t have time to think much and hurriedly followed.
They had no choice; they were just ordinary high school students. If it weren’t for their survival instincts, they probably wouldn’t even know what to do.
The more critical the situation, the greater the need for a sense of security.
Wu Ya instinctively thought of Lv Bai, running behind Tian Wang and coming up with ideas as she ran: "Let’s go to the Seventh District."
"It’s too far!" Ke Jiangni’s mind was still clear. She looked back to confirm there were no zombies chasing them, then added, "Head to the military camp; the army is there."
After sprinting a distance, Tian Wang had to slow down, panting heavily: "Where... where exactly are we going?"
Ke Jiangni initially wanted to say something but suddenly noticed something amiss: "Why are there so many people crowding here?"
At the passage between the Twenty-Third District and the Twenty-Second District, there were hundreds of people gathered.
The barriers between the shelter areas weren’t fences but rather a near three-meter-high corrugated steel wall. It might not be able to block zombies, but it certainly stopped ordinary people.
"Back off! Back off!"
Terror, panic, anger...
The crowd pushed and shoved, with everyone’s nerves visibly on edge, like a barrel of explosives ready to explode at any moment.
"Move aside quickly! Don’t you fucking know what’s happening?!"
"Damn! The monsters are coming!"
"If you don’t move, I’ll fight you to the death!"
"I’m begging you, I don’t want to die yet."
Several soldiers holding riot shields blocked the passage, ignoring the pleas and shouts from the survivors present.
A man dressed like an administrative officer stood behind the riot shields, loudly saying something, trying to calm the agitated crowd.
Unfortunately, his voice was too small, barely creating a ripple before being drowned out by the sea of curses.
Besides, behind the frontline soldiers, there were a few more soldiers equipped with automatic rifles, maintaining a shooting posture to prevent any citizens from rushing the passage.
Of course, maintaining this situation was partly due to the fact that zombies hadn’t yet charged this way. Once they did, the situation would spiral out of control instantly.
"Everyone! Please remain calm, listen to me! We will not abandon you, please believe in us."
The administrative officer retrieved a megaphone from somewhere, attempting to maintain order: "I know you’re all scared, but don’t worry, the army will be arriving soon.
Now, I hope everyone will gather to my right, and those injured, please step forward voluntarily, everyone help each other..."
Most of the time, the administrative officer’s response wasn’t wrong.
However, he clearly overlooked one point.
Using a megaphone before zombies’ overly sensitive hearing was akin to sounding a rallying call in the military camp.
In the aisles between tents, countless zombies suddenly turned their heads toward the source of the megaphone sound and started rushing.
Watching the hideous zombies approach, the situation at the passage, barely controlled before, completely collapsed. Many people cried out as they desperately crashed against the human barrier.
Given that a large number of civilians blocked the front, the soldiers at the passage couldn’t find any opening to shoot the zombies.
"Let’s go!"
Tian Wang’s face turned white with fear, and he turned to squeeze into the crowd.
"Heh~ if you keep reaching out your hand, I’ll chop it off now." A tall woman with a cigarette in her mouth turned around, speaking in an indisputable tone.
Even in such urgent times, this woman still exuded an air of elegance, completely at odds with the panicked crowd around her.
As the zombies got closer, Tian Wang didn’t want to create more trouble, nodding perfunctorily before trying to squeeze further away.
Instead, Wu Ya moved forward to apologize for Tian Wang and offered, "Do you want to come with us? It’s too dangerous for a woman alone."
Ke Jiangni opened her mouth slightly, wanting to warn Wu Ya that now wasn’t the time to be motherly. Suddenly, realizing something, she didn’t say another word.
Guo Mi took the cigarette out of her mouth and teasingly said, "Little sister, you still have the heart to worry about me, huh?"
As they spoke, many zombies had already charged over.
More than a dozen people on the periphery were knocked down on the spot, letting out harrowing screams.
"Don’t give up, come with us quickly." As Wu Ya spoke, her voice trembled, her fear not feigned but real.
"Okay, but look around. Can we really get out of here?"
Guo Mi pulled Wu Ya closer and said to Ke Jiangni nearby, "Call that chubby kid and follow me."
It was as if Ke Jiangni was waiting for this, immediately pulling Tian Wang along.
The group bypassed the crowd gathered at the passage entrance, jogging along the corrugated steel wall.
In their state of panic, many citizens also chose to flee along the wall on either side of the passage, so Wu Ya and the others didn’t stand out amidst the chaos.
The downside was, with more people, they naturally attracted some zombies.
The zombies seemed to possess intelligence, each targeting its own prey, some even crashing headfirst into the wall, producing ear-piercing clangs.
Guo Mi and her group were similarly blocked by a zombie with half a face remaining, close enough that Wu Ya could smell its foul stench. With no chance of communication, the zombie roared and lunged at Wu Ya.
In a critical moment, Guo Mi didn’t try to stop the zombie’s charge but instead picked Wu Ya up and gracefully leaped, lightly tapping her toes on the zombie’s head like a dragonfly skimming water, elevating again.
Even with someone in her arms, she seemed unaffected by gravity, moving with a kind of lightness.
The half-faced zombie’s charge went unhindered, its momentum not slowing, as it crashed headfirst into the ground.
Seeing this, a look of realization flashed in Ke Jiangni’s eyes. She didn’t ask any further questions as Guo Mi gently landed with Wu Ya.
"Amazing..."
Feeling the ground beneath her feet, Wu Ya felt like she was in a dream: "Sister, are you like Lu as well?"
Hearing this, Guo Mi raised an eyebrow, "Like him as well?"
