Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 824: Messy Romantic Entanglements
Norman Sutton avoided Faye Xavier and said unhappily, "Don’t bother me."
Faye Xavier: "Look at yourself, first you need to change your bad temper. You haven’t even gotten your girl yet, and you’re showing people attitude. Who’s going to pay attention to you? They don’t owe you anything."
Hearing this, Norman Sutton inwardly disagreed, thinking that when he showed Lana Holloway a good face, she didn’t appreciate it.
Faye Xavier: "Playing hard to get isn’t the same as waiting for someone to come to you. You have to be proactive when necessary."
As Faye spoke, he waved over Candy, who ran over instantly. Faye casually wrapped an arm around Candy’s waist and whispered in her ear, "Help this little brother out as I mentioned yesterday."
Candy glanced at Norman Sutton and pouted, "But he doesn’t cooperate with me. He was mean to me this morning. I don’t want to help him."
Faye Xavier: "Good girl, I’ll reward you tonight."
Candy looked at Norman Sutton reluctantly and said, "Alright, I’m only helping him for your sake."
Norman Sutton’s expression was one of disdain, as if silently stating: I didn’t ask for your help.
Faye Xavier patted Candy’s rear and said, "I’m heading back to continue playing cards. Take him to the screening room to have some fun. I think he’d like that."
Candy playfully said, "Then if you win money, remember to buy me a present."
Faye Xavier affectionately patted Candy’s head and said, "Alright, alright, I’ll buy whatever you want."
After their affectionate exchange, Faye got up and returned to the card table.
Candy looked at Norman Sutton and said, "Let’s go, Brother Norman."
Norman Sutton stood up, gave Candy a disdainful look, and said, "Can you call me something else? It’s kind of gross."
Candy naturally linked arms with Norman Sutton and asked him, "Then what do you want me to call you? Norman?"
Norman Sutton frowned and pulled his arm out of Candy’s grasp, irritably saying, "Whatever, call me whatever you want!"
Candy pressed close again, holding onto Norman Sutton’s arm and said, "I’m helping you here. Can’t you cooperate a little?"
Though Norman Sutton wasn’t fond of being this close to a stranger, he knew she was indeed helping him, so he had to grit his teeth and endure it.
Besides, he wanted to see Lana Holloway’s reaction to him being affectionate with another woman.
The two entered the screening room hand in hand, and those watching the movie turned their gazes to them due to the commotion.
With some of those women joining in, Audrey Sutton’s group had privately discussed these women, feeling they didn’t seem proper.
After all, they’d just met and became close to Faye and Luc, which didn’t make them seem like good people.
So seeing Norman Sutton with the bob-haired girl, Laura Yates was the first to show a surprised expression.
Turning to Lana Holloway, she only showed a moment of surprise in her eyes but quickly concealed it, casually focusing back on the screen.
After all, she’d seen these two being close in the hospital ward before.
Vanessa Sterling rarely showed a gossip-loving expression, as she wasn’t familiar with Norman Sutton or the bob-haired girl, nor did she understand Norman and Lana’s relationship, assuming they were just watching a movie together, she slightly shifted her position awkwardly.
In the standoff, Candy spoke first, softly saying, "Umm... we’d like to join and watch the movie."
Laura Yates finally snapped out of it, politely smiled, and pointed to a side sofa, saying, "There are seats over here."
Candy turned to Norman Sutton and said, "Norman, let’s sit over there. I’ve heard this movie’s really good, but I haven’t had time to see it because of work."
Norman Sutton’s mind wasn’t on the movie. From the moment he entered, his eyes had been on Lana Holloway.
And Lana had only glanced at him when he came in, then completely ignored him, showing no emotional reaction.
It was like hitting a soft wall, feeling frustrated but unable to vent.
Norman and Candy went over to sit on the empty sofa on the side, with Candy snuggling up closely next to Norman. After getting comfortable, Candy asked the others, "Are we disturbing you?"
Laura Yates wanted to question what Norman Sutton was doing, but she just smiled and shook her head at the girl, responding, "No, although we’ve watched about half of it already. You said you like this one, should we rewind it for you?"
Candy quickly gestured, "No need, no need, Norman probably watched it before, right? I’ll just ask him if I don’t understand something later."
Norman Sutton didn’t dispute what she said and only glanced sideways at Lana Holloway.
Not seeing the expression he expected from Lana’s face, he felt increasingly frustrated.
Laura sensed something amiss and quietly sent Audrey Sutton a message.
Soon, Audrey Sutton and Barry Barrett entered the screening room together. Upon seeing Norman Sutton, Audrey deliberately showed a surprised expression and said, "Oh, Brother Six, you’re here? I was just looking for you everywhere."
Norman Sutton shot Audrey a glance, premonition telling him she was about to cause trouble.
Indeed, the next second Audrey’s gaze fell on the bob-haired girl, seeing them sitting close, Audrey wished she could hit Norman, but she only smiled and asked him, "Brother Six, is this my future sister-in-law? Why not introduce her to everyone?"
Norman Sutton gritted his teeth and glared at Audrey, saying, "Shut up!"
Audrey looked innocent as she asked, "Why so mean to me? If she’s not my future sister-in-law, why is she sitting in your lap? Do you believe I’ll tell Mom and Dad you’re messing around outside?"
Norman Sutton hadn’t thought much until Audrey said this, making him almost believe he and Candy might have something, fearing Lana might misunderstand, he awkwardly distanced himself from Candy.
Candy, understanding, said, "You’ve misunderstood. Norman and I are just friends, not like you think."
Audrey gave a forced smile and said, "Good. You’re sitting where the screen’s visible, mind if we join you?"
Saying that, Audrey pulled Barry and squeezed between Norman and Candy on the sofa.
Though the two-seater was fairly spacious, squeezing four people in was cramped.
A frustrated Norman Sutton already wasn’t in the mood for a movie and with Audrey’s antics, he stood up and left the screening room.
Candy wasn’t really there for the movie either. Seeing Norman leave, she immediately showed a concerned expression and chased after him, calling out, "Norman, what are you doing? Wait for me!"
