Chapter 713: Chapter 713: The Great Norman Is Number One in the World

The meal was supposed to be a romantic Western dinner, but this group of people ate like they were in a battle, without really slowing down to enjoy the atmosphere.

In about ten minutes, almost everything was off the table, and they were tidying up and getting ready to head to the competition venue.

While waiting for a car downstairs, Norman Sutton looked down and asked Lana Holloway, "Are you going tonight?"

Lana Holloway hesitated for a moment. Norman Sutton thought she was hesitating because she was reluctant to go, so he frowned and said sarcastically, "Fine, don’t go. It’ll save me from getting upset and affecting my performance."

Lana Holloway glanced at him and said casually, "Then I’d better not go, just so some people don’t blame me if they lose the competition."

"Lose? No way I’ll lose."

Lana Holloway turned her head to watch the team bus pull up, and the group lined up to board the vehicle.

Norman Sutton didn’t invite Lana Holloway onto the bus. He simply said to her, "Anyway, I’ve given you the ticket. Whether you come or not is up to you."

After saying this, he got into the bus and sat by a window, looking out at Lana Holloway through the glass.

Lana Holloway stood by the roadside without reacting.

Actually, she knew that Norman Sutton gave her the ticket hoping she’d come to watch, but his words were so arrogant that she didn’t want to let him see her give in.

The bus drove away, and Lana Holloway waited for the green light on the road opposite before heading back to the hotel.

What really caused her to hesitate earlier was that when Norman Sutton mentioned tonight’s competition, she suddenly remembered the ticket was still in the pocket of the jacket she wore this morning.

But Norman Sutton didn’t give her a chance to explain before unleashing a tirade of arrogant comments.

On the bus, Norman Sutton looked annoyed as he gazed outside, increasingly convinced that Lana Holloway was ungrateful.

"Great Norman, was that girl sitting next to you at dinner your girlfriend?"

"Great Norman, that’s not fair! You’ve got a girlfriend and didn’t tell us."

"Yeah, you even secretly brought your girlfriend to the competition, your relationship must be really good."

Norman Sutton turned and rolled his eyes, "Girlfriend? What makes you think she’s good enough for me? She’s just my mom’s apprentice; I was just taking care of her a bit while she’s here."

A guy with glasses in the team asked in surprise, "Really not your girlfriend? I thought that girl was pretty cute. Great Norman, what about introducing me to her?"

Norman Sutton’s face darkened, and the guy with glasses continued, "Not just anyone deserves to be with our Great Norman, but I’m different. I’m a simple guy with no high expectations. If you introduce me to her and I end up marrying her, I’d light incense in gratitude."

Norman Sutton couldn’t help cursing, "Marry your ass, she doesn’t like guys who wear glasses!"

"I could wear contacts. My prescription isn’t high."

Norman Sutton fumed silently and looked out the window again.

Judging by that girl’s stubborn nature, she probably won’t show up tonight.

A wasted ticket.

Damn.

Stubborn woman.

The competition was international, attracting viewers from all over the world.

It was also the finals of this season, with tickets long sold out, the venue teeming with people.

At seven o’clock, the competition began right on time, first with a speech from the host, followed by performances of the game’s theme song by several pop singers. Then each team was introduced.

Norman Sutton’s team was the third to compete, fairly early on.

Backstage, they were almost ready for the competition.

Norman Sutton sat in the lounge, his phone displaying Lana Holloway’s chat page, but he only stared at it, hesitating to send any message.

He felt that forcing her to come wouldn’t be fun.

But if she truly didn’t come, he feared his mood would be sour all night.

Although he wouldn’t let emotions affect his competition, he’d definitely be restless, as if something was missing.

With a best-of-three format, after two previous teams finished competing, the host introduced Norman Sutton’s team, who then confidently took the stage.

As soon as they appeared, a crowd of fan girls erupted into screams, each waving their support banners.

Dense crowds filled the venue, intermixed with vibrant banners.

Norman Sutton recalled that the ticket he gave Lana Holloway was for the third row, somewhere near the center. After stepping onto the stage, his first action was scanning in that direction.

Seeing the figure in a white padded jacket and a mauve-purple hat, Norman Sutton’s tense expression suddenly eased like clouds clearing after rain. He couldn’t help but smile slightly.

The host happened to interview him, asking in English, "Great Norman, are you confident about winning the championship today?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Norman Sutton replied in Chinese, "I have not just confidence but also the ability."

This bold response triggered another wave of screams from the fans below.

Lana Holloway was attending an esports competition for the first time. Since she didn’t usually play games, she wasn’t familiar with this realm.

However, being present allowed her to absorb the intense competitive spirit and atmosphere.

Though the previous two teams’ match was unclear to her, unable to grasp the meanings of those technical terms from the commentary, she judged the scenario by observing which side’s players died and which side’s fans screamed.

Norman Sutton was a legendary figure in esports, and since they attended the same school before, even those unfamiliar with esports knew of Norman Sutton’s name.

Yet this was Lana Holloway’s first time seeing him display such charisma on stage, setting aside his usual off-putting talk. He was rather dazzling in his element.

She also noticed that the girls sitting around her were almost all Norman Sutton’s fans, each holding banners saying "Great Norman is number one," and all his actions sparked their screams and discussions.

There was even a male fan behind her who shouted "Great Norman is awesome" until his voice broke.

After team introductions, each team shook hands before heading to their respective playing areas.

The finals featured eight teams, battling pair by pair until the season’s champion was decided.

Lana Holloway listened to the surrounding commentary, which suggested that Norman Sutton’s team had a considerable advantage over the opposing team. Norman Sutton’s team achieved a crushing victory, quickly finishing the match.

Lana Holloway, watching in confusion, suddenly realized Norman Sutton’s team had won. She only noticed that when the camera switched perspectives, the guy with glasses sitting beside Norman Sutton looked quite handsome.

"Ding-dong—"

Shortly after Norman Sutton stepped off the stage, Lana Holloway’s phone rang. She fished it out from her bag and saw a message from Norman Sutton saying, "I thought you weren’t going to come."

Lana Holloway: "It’s a free ticket, why miss it?"

Norman Sutton: "Money grubber."

Norman Sutton: "Was your Great Norman handsome just now?"

Lana Holloway replied with a puke emoji, and then asked, "The guy with glasses sitting beside you just now looked pretty handsome."
