Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 664: You’re Just Stingy!
Flora Lane, a bit annoyed, said, "I didn’t hear you. Why didn’t you call me?"
Lucian Quinn adjusted his shoes, closed the door behind him, wrapped an arm around Flora and walked toward the dining table, saying, "Of course, you didn’t hear because I didn’t knock. I didn’t want to disturb your rest."
Flora Lane placed the paper bag on the table, taking out the boxes inside, while saying, "When you’re not home, I always lock the door. I didn’t expect you to come back so early. Why did you arrive so early?"
Lucian Quinn, with a perfectly calm expression, said, "Maybe the plane was faster."
Flora Lane didn’t doubt Lucian at all and with a hint of regret said, "I was actually planning to buy a bouquet to pick you up. I got up early to get ready. Who knew you’d be here already."
Lucian Quinn: "Let’s eat first, it’s still hot."
Flora Lane: "You arrived a little after six, then went to your brother’s to drop off your luggage, then went to buy dumplings. You haven’t rested, have you? Why don’t you take a nap later on, while I go out to buy some groceries."
Lucian Quinn: "Let’s go together. I rested on the plane, still not sleepy."
Flora Lane: "I’ll go remove my makeup first, looks a bit odd otherwise."
Watching Flora get up and walk to the bedroom, Lucian Quinn said, "Eat first then go, as long as I don’t find it odd, it’s fine."
"It’ll be quick!"
Flora Lane really cares about Lucian’s opinion; she doesn’t care if others find it odd.
Even though she knows Lucian wouldn’t mind, she still wants to leave a good impression on him, worried that some guys might not say anything but would silently dislike their partner for being unkempt.
After all, in Flora’s eyes, Lucian belongs to the category of refined and tidy men, though he never expects her to be the same. For instance, if things at home are messy, he’d just quietly tidy up without nagging her to remember to clean up next time.
After Flora noticed this, she started paying more attention to such details.
They have been together for a while now, and Flora only discovered that Lucian really has a great temperament and takes care of her feelings, a truly meticulous man.
Throughout their relationship, they’ve never had a single argument.
Flora often wonders what good fortune from past lives allowed her to meet such a nearly perfect man. She can’t believe she’s so lucky.
Audrey Sutton once told her, instead of being amazed and doubtful about the sudden arrival of this happiness, she should cherish and hold onto it, which gradually gave Flora confidence in the relationship.
And Lucian has never let her down.
Before they moved in together, Lucian had made it clear that he wouldn’t touch her until they were married.
The things he promised, he never went back on. However, Flora isn’t that conservative; sometimes she hopes Lucian would be a bit bolder in these matters. But to appear reserved, she has never brought it up.
As for when to get married, Lucian initially said after she graduated from college. Of course, Flora thought it might be a bit too soon.
But now Flora feels anytime would be fine, though she’s too shy to mention it to Lucian.
...
Audrey Sutton woke up at eleven-thirty, awakened by hunger.
Upon waking, seeing no one beside her, she wondered if she’d had a dream.
But seeing the men’s suit by the bed confirmed to Audrey that Shane Warner had indeed returned.
She jumped out of bed and rushed downstairs, spotting Shane Warner just walking out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup.
"I was just about to call you up, wash your hands and eat."
Audrey Sutton glanced around, and besides Shane Warner, no one else was in sight.
Her mom had been busy developing a relationship with her new apprentice lately and was usually at The Yates Family estate during the day, not coming back for lunch.
Her other brothers had their own affairs, and the only one with nothing to do, Norman Sutton, was probably still in bed.
"Where’s Sister Phoebe?"
"Went out with your eldest brother."
Audrey Sutton tied her hair up with a rubber band from her wrist, went to the kitchen to wash her hands, grabbed some bowls and chopsticks, and sat down with Shane at the dining table.
Shane Warner served her a bowl of soup, saying, "I need to go to the company later, make sure to tidy up a bit, I’ll pick you up in the evening." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Audrey nodded, saying, "So busy right when you return? Aren’t you going to rest a bit?"
Shane Warner: "It’s year-end, Starfield needs to prepare new products for the New Year. I need to hustle a bit so I can have more time in January to spend with you during the New Year."
Audrey Sutton: "Really? Then I’ll do some planning and find a warm place for us to travel."
Shane Warner: "Sure, whatever you say."
Starfield.
When Shane Warner arrived at the company, it was lunchtime.
He had informed Faye Xavier beforehand, so after she’d eaten at the company cafeteria, she waited in her office for Shane to arrive.
She first reported the recent work, then asked, "Has Quentin Sterling reached out to you?"
Shane Warner paused for a moment, flipping through the files in his hand, then nodded, "Yes, he’ll be coming to the company soon."
Faye Xavier explained, "I had someone prepare the report, but Quentin Sterling blocked it from being published. He came by the company yesterday when you weren’t here, so I assume he tried calling you."
Shane Warner: "You don’t need to worry about this. I’ll handle it when he gets here."
Faye Xavier nodded but still stood there as if unfinished, without leaving.
Shane Warner looked up at her and asked, "Is there something else?"
Faye Xavier chuckled and said, "Master Shane, considering my sacrifices this month, what about my bonus..."
"You? What did you sacrifice? Didn’t we blur your face already?"
Faye Xavier frowned, "Blurry or not, I was on the ground, hands-on for this task."
Shane Warner: "Well, didn’t you benefit from it? Why are you acting like you lost out?"
Faye Xavier: "Master Shane, that’s not it. I’m picky too, you know? You have no idea how much effort I put in to deliver the results."
Shane Warner: "You’ve worked hard."
Faye Xavier’s mouth twitched, "Is that it?"
Shane Warner: "Or how about I reward you by having you stay late and work overtime with me?"
"Master Shane, you’re so stingy!"
Shane Warner raised an eyebrow, speaking with a justified tone, "You don’t have family to support, so you don’t know what pressure is. Everywhere costs money, and we have to save where we can."
Faye Xavier looked at Shane Warner disdainfully, "You always use your spouse as an excuse to exploit us! With your wealth, you could open hundreds of formula factories, and she’s quite the breadwinner herself. You’re just plain stingy!"
Shane Warner lazily glanced at her and said, "Since you know that, why are you still wasting your breath with me?"
Faye Xavier’s disdain deepened, and she said, "But Master Shane, I never expected you’d let me use such dirty methods. It’s so unlike you."
Shane Warner: "Whether it’s dirty or not depends on who you’re dealing with."
