Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 663: I Missed You So Much
Audrey Sutton felt that this dream was too real. In her half-awake state, it truly seemed like a heavy body was pressing against her, with rough hands exploring her waist, and a warm, suffocating feeling between her lips that felt so genuine.
She subconsciously thought that maybe the quilt had covered her nose and mouth, leading to this kind of dream.
She tried to lift her hand to push away the quilt, but it felt so heavy that she couldn’t move it, and she was jolted awake by the suffocating feeling.
When she opened her eyes, her mind was still foggy, unsure if she had really woken up or was still dreaming. The room was dimly lit, and she vaguely made out a large head in front of her.
She was panting heavily, breathing in a faint scent of orange blossom, which was very familiar.
Blinking her eyes, once she saw the face of the person in front of her, she wasn’t surprised because it was the same man from her dream.
She assumed she hadn’t fully woken up.
Until Shane Warner’s voice broke the silence: "You sleep like a pig. I had to kiss you forever to wake you up."
Audrey Sutton blinked and reached out to touch Shane Warner’s head, realizing it was real. Her eyes widened suddenly, looking around at her surroundings, then back at the man a few centimeters away from her in shock: "Is it really you?! How are you back?!"
Shane looked at her face, surprised rather than excited, and chuckled, "Didn’t want me back?"
Audrey thought for a moment before asking urgently, "What time is it?! Have I slept that long?! Wait, it’s not even daylight."
Confused, she immediately picked up her phone from the bedside to check the time, confirming it was just past six in the morning.
"Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be back until noon? Why are you here so early?"
Shane’s dark eyes reflected the fatigue from his long journey. He smiled and said, "If I didn’t lie, you’d be waiting for me at the airport around four or five in such cold weather. I’d rather you have a comfortable sleep and wake up naturally."
Audrey was still a bit dazed as she sat up in bed. Shane also adjusted his posture slightly. As he moved, the duvet lifted, letting in the cold air, which made Audrey aware that her nightgown had been pushed up to her waist, with Shane’s hand still resting on her waist, as if to tell her that the scenes from her dream were real.
She quickly pulled down her gown, frowning at him: "But you still woke me up!"
Shane leaned forward slightly, gently brushing his lips against hers. Seeing Audrey reflexively pull back, he said seriously, "I didn’t plan to, but once I saw you, I couldn’t help myself. I missed you too much."
Audrey had initially been a bit mad at him for lying to her again. However, hearing those words, her heart melted, feeling warmth and even a bit of sourness in her nose.
Just as she was getting emotional, she felt Shane’s hand sliding from her waist to her slightly protruding belly. She immediately held his hand in alarm, asking, "What did you do while I was sleeping?"
Shane responded with a mischievous smile, "I wouldn’t mind repeating it."
"So, you didn’t miss me, did you? You just wanted those things! You pounce like a hungry wolf the moment you return!"
Shane inched closer, his breath lightly brushing against Audrey’s face as he spoke: "Isn’t there a saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder? And it’s been over five months. If I say I don’t want those things, you should be worried if your husband has a problem."
Audrey blushed, shrinking down a bit, while Shane followed her closely: "It’s a safe period now, and I’ll be careful."
Audrey glared at him but didn’t say anything in opposition, only shyly withdrawing into the duvet.
Shane watched her with a smile, undoing the bow knot on her nightshirt, and while gently kissing her neck, he enticingly said, "Help me with the buttons."
Audrey’s face turned crimson, avoiding eye contact with him, as her hands fumbled with the buttons on his shirt, undoing them one by one...
The temperature beneath the duvet began to rise. The thin sheen of sweat made the skin sticky. Black strands of hair stuck to her cheeks and neck, adding an indescribable allure to the scene.
Shane’s movements were more cautious than ever, gentle beyond words.
Yet, he only stopped after exhausting Audrey completely.
Though clearly not fully satisfied, he was mindful of their child’s safety and refrained from being too greedy, wrapping Audrey in a thin blanket and carrying her to the bathroom.
Outside, the sky had already brightened, and the sounds of others waking up were faintly audible beyond the door.
Audrey, having not had enough sleep, felt even more tired after being worn out by Shane.
Having just endured a ten-hour flight, coupled with their earlier exertions, Shane wasn’t particularly energetic either. After drying Audrey’s hair, he held her in his arms and fell asleep satisfied.
Flora Lane received the same information as Audrey Sutton. They had planned to go to the airport together.
She got up just after seven, putting on makeup in her pajamas in front of the mirror.
Where she lived now, was a place she and Lucian Quinn chose together after confirming their relationship.
Having only worked for a short while, Flora Lane had no plans to purchase a house in Rivia with her modest income. At the time, when Lucian Quinn suggested buying a house, she refused because she felt that buying a house should be a joint effort, and it didn’t sit well with her for Lucian to foot the bill alone.
But back then, Lucian Quinn was very blunt when he told her, "I really mind you living with other guys, even as roommates, it’s not acceptable."
So, Flora had no choice but to go house-hunting with him, eventually starting their cohabitation.
Now, with marriage prospects on the table, her friends often advised her that once she has chosen a partner, she shouldn’t fret over financial disparities or whether they are well-matched. Instead, they should consider themselves a single entity—what’s mine is yours, and yours is mine. Who are you saving your money for if not for him?
After figuring things out, Flora became less meticulous about money matters. In her interactions with Lucian, she was less restrained but also not as uninhibited as she was before knowing him. At least, she wasn’t recklessly flirting with handsome men anymore.
"Ding-dong—"
The doorbell rang suddenly, startling Flora so much that she almost smudged her eyeliner.
Wondering who it could be so early, as she hadn’t ordered takeout, she peeked out of the bedroom. Seeing the well-dressed man on the monitor by the door, she opened the door in shock without thinking, "Why are you here so early?!"
Lucian Quinn walked in, carrying a paper bag from Flora’s favorite dumpling shop, which he remembered after she’d taken him there a few times.
Flora immediately fetched him his shoes from the cabinet, asking, "Didn’t you say you’d be back by noon? I’m not even done with my makeup." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Lucian handed her the paper bag and mentioned while changing his shoes, "I actually got here around six. I swung by, but you had the door double-locked. I couldn’t get in, so I went over to my brother’s to drop off my luggage."
