Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 533: Heath Holloway
The soup in the pot was bubbling with small bubbles.
Shane stirred with a ladle and said calmly, "I’ll keep investigating until I find the truth."
Hearing this, Wallace Warner opened his mouth but then stopped, sighing deeply.
Audrey Sutton got up and walked over, naturally ending the conversation.
"Need any help?"
Shane pointed his chin at the vegetables in the sink and said, "Go wash the vegetables."
Shane also knew that Audrey was just trying to appear more industrious in front of his parents.
Lately, she had been quite lazy, often lying on the couch playing her games while he cooked, only coming over to set the table just before meal times.
Helen Holloway walked over with a smile, watching them and saying, "Looks like I don’t need to worry about you two not eating well. You seem to have stocked up on plenty of food."
Audrey smiled and replied, "He worries that outside food is unsanitary, so we mostly cook at home."
Helen: "It’s more reassuring to cook for yourselves. But Shane, you’re busy with work; maybe you should consider hiring a nanny to help care for Audrey?"
Shane: "No need, she’s not used to others’ cooking either."
Audrey also didn’t plan on hiring a nanny anytime soon, wanting to enjoy a few more days of couple time before the baby arrives.
Helen: "I’m just worried you’ll be too tired."
Shane: "There’s not much going on at work these days, not busy."
Helen: "That’s fine then, I’ll come by more often when I’m free. By the way, has your uncle called you?"
Shane shook his head, "Why? He hasn’t contacted me."
Helen smiled and said, "Oh, it’s nothing major. It’s just that Heath graduated from college last year, and he’s been staying home doing nothing, partying every day. Your uncle says he doesn’t listen to him and wants him to join your company for a job, thinking Heath respects you and might listen to you."
Shane: "What did he major in?"
Helen: "I think it was finance."
Shane paused for a moment and said, "We’ll talk when he comes."
Helen was satisfied with Shane’s agreement and said with a smile, "Alright, when Heath arrives, I’ll have him contact you directly."
Shane nodded, "Okay."
After Helen walked away, Audrey leaned in and asked Shane quietly, "Who’s Heath?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Shane: "My cousin."
Audrey: "Are you two close?"
Shane: "Not really, haven’t seen him in years."
Audrey muttered under her breath, "Then why are you inviting him to the company?"
Shane chuckled and said, "He did major in finance, after all. If I hired you, an outsider, there’s no reason not to hire him."
Audrey worriedly said, "I heard your mom say he’s troublesome, I’m afraid he’ll cause you trouble at work."
Shane: "Don’t worry, I can handle him. Now go take the dishes to the table."
...
After lunch, Shane’s parents left. Audrey bought movie tickets for around four o’clock. After tidying up the kitchen, Shane went upstairs with her for a nap.
He only napped for about ten minutes before getting up to handle some work, while Audrey slept soundly until after three.
She changed clothes and headed out with Shane.
The cinema was bustling with people on the weekend. When they arrived, there wasn’t even a seat available in the lobby.
The cinema was located inside a mall, so Audrey dragged Shane around downstairs, buying some snacks for the movie.
When they returned to the cinema, their movie was already being checked in.
Audrey held Shane’s hand as they joined the queue, turning her head to say, "After the movie, let’s go downstairs for some grilled pork ribs. Flora said Mor took her there the other day, and it was delicious."
Shane: "Didn’t you say you wanted to avoid greasy food?"
Audrey: "I’ve been craving it since I haven’t had it in a while."
Shane: "Though I have noticed your appetite has improved lately."
Audrey nodded, "I think so too. I’ve been getting hungry easily these days."
Saying this, Audrey adjusted her loose sweater, showing her slightly rounded belly, and asked Shane, "Do you think it’s the baby growing, or am I just getting fat?"
Shane mimicked her previous words, "Do you want to hear a comforting lie or a blatant one?"
Audrey glared at him, seeing the line move forward, she followed suit.
"Audrey!"
Just after the ticket check, as she walked in, someone called her from behind. Turning her head, she saw Phoebe King running over, "Are you guys here for a movie too? Which one are you watching?"
Audrey: "The one that premiered yesterday."
Phoebe excitedly said, "Us too! Wait for me, your brother went to pick up the tickets!"
Audrey: "Why are you so late?"
Phoebe: "Blame your brother! He insisted on going to the bookstore. I rushed him, but he said there’s no hurry. We wandered around the mall forever before finding the cinema. Going out with him is exasperating!"
Audrey chuckled, "Be satisfied, Sister Phoebe. My brother rarely agrees to go out with anyone."
Stephen Sutton came over with the movie tickets, Phoebe took one, got her ticket checked first, and then linked her arm with Audrey’s, complaining non-stop.
She complained that not only did Stephen have a lot of quirks when going out, but even more rules at home, "Not just having a precise sleeping and waking schedule, which I’ve adjusted to, but also needing to neatly arrange shoes after entering the room. The most excessive thing is chewing with closed mouths during meals to avoid noise. Isn’t he a bit neurotic?"
Audrey couldn’t help but laugh, "My brother has so many quirks? I never noticed his OCD when he was home."
Phoebe: "I didn’t notice before marrying him either. If I’d known earlier..."
Audrey couldn’t resist interrupting her, teasing, "If you’d known, you’d still marry him?"
Phoebe glanced back at Stephen and then laughed with Audrey, "I would still marry him, but before that, I’d set some terms to prevent him from imposing all those bad habits on me! I feel like I’ve married into the royal palace, with so many rules."
Audrey covered her mouth and whispered into Phoebe’s ear, "It’s probably his teacher’s professional habit. He used to correct my homework and would comment even if my writing was slightly crooked."
"Ahem—" Shane, walking alongside Stephen behind them, awkwardly cleared his throat. Audrey looked back at him and then smiled.
Shane asked her, "Talking bad about me again?"
