Chapter 481: Chapter 481: Rather Cute

Flora looked at the message Lucian sent her, feeling inexplicably aggrieved, thinking this man’s seemingly considerate demeanor was just a front while scheming all along.

He spoke so nicely, saying he didn’t want her to have too much of a psychological burden, yet he was forcing her to give him an answer by tomorrow. How could she not feel pressured?

Flora tossed her phone on the sofa, irritably rubbed her hair, grabbed the robe hanging by the bed, and went into the bathroom.

She soaked herself in the bathtub, submerged for a few seconds before emerging, trying to clear her mind in this way.

Reflecting seriously on Lucian’s earlier words, in terms of conditions, he completely fit Flora’s usual criteria for a mate.

Wealthy, handsome; in these two areas, Lucian even surpassed the men she had encountered before by several folds.

Perhaps it was precisely because of this that Flora found it hard to see a sense of security in him.

She wondered how such an outstanding man could possibly be interested in her.

Perhaps everything he said today was true, but maybe he liked her today and could fall for someone better tomorrow.

And besides, with a man who’s never been in a relationship, being with him was like spending her youth teaching someone else’s future husband. Ultimately, they would break up for various reasons, and she felt she didn’t have the time or energy to waste now.

Yet, for some reason, even though she knew they might not make it to the end, she couldn’t think of a particularly strong reason to resolutely reject Lucian.

Every time she thought of him now, her heart would race uncontrollably.

This feeling seemed to take her back to a time when she was inexperienced in the world.

Her mind was a mess.

Two days later.

Shane Warner managed to make it back on his birthday, landing in the afternoon.

Audrey Sutton calculated the time to pick him up from the airport. Now, she no longer hid her longing for him at all, telling him several times, "I miss you," during their daily video calls. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

The plane landed a bit after three in the afternoon, and from the moment she received Shane’s landing message, Audrey craned her neck, peering towards the airport exit.

Though it wasn’t her first time picking him up, each time her eagerness to see him and her overwhelming longing intensified.

When Shane saw Audrey, she was already sprinting towards him.

Even though it had only been a few days since they’d seen each other, they reunited like long-lost lovers who could only meet once a year. She pounced into his embrace, and he caught her steadily, feeling her grip tighten around him.

With a muffled grievance, she complained, "You said it would be just two or three days, but you ended up staying so many days! Was it because the ladies there were prettier, and you couldn’t bear to leave?"

Shane chuckled softly, tucked the stray hair behind her ear, looked down at her, and after two seconds of eye contact, leaned down to kiss her lips. Audrey instinctively closed her eyes, ignoring the passing travelers around them, pouring all her yearning into the kiss.

Feeling Audrey’s breath become slightly rapid, Shane released her, chuckled, pinched her cheek saying, "Your face is so round, yet you said you missed me so much that you couldn’t eat or drink. I think you ate pretty well at home alone."

Audrey retorted in dissatisfaction, "Nonsense, I’ve clearly lost weight, and I couldn’t eat much these past few days."

Shane: "How could you not eat?"

Audrey hesitated, almost spilling the beans, and smiled, vaguely brushing it off, "I’m on a diet."

Shane: "Then why is your face rounder?"

Audrey: "It’s not round! Hurry and go freshen up, we’ll go home for your birthday in the evening, my mom’s prepared a lot of food!"

Shane wrapped his arm around her, walking toward the airport exit while asking, "Is the gift ready?"

Audrey giggled, "I’ve prepared a big present for you."

Shane discreetly pinched her buttocks, his smile turning a bit suggestive, "I’ll make sure to properly receive this big gift tonight."

Audrey glared at him but knew that once he found out she was pregnant, he wouldn’t dare touch her. Imagining his impending frustration, she decided not to argue with him now.

She didn’t expect that he couldn’t wait.

Once they got home, after showering, while Audrey was sorting the clothes from his luggage, he approached, sticking to her back, his hands restlessly wandering to her front.

Audrey dodged him while holding the dirty clothes, scowling at him as she headed to the laundry room, saying, "Hurry and change, mom just called, let’s head over after you’re done."

Shane: "You’re not planning to backtrack, are you? I’ve been thinking about it these days."

Audrey threw the clothes into the washing machine, pressing the function button, "Did you find another woman behind my back?"

Shane leaned against the laundry room door frame lazily, "There’s no one I want but you."

Audrey: "Then why do you act like you can’t stand being without a woman?"

Shane: "Correction, I can’t stand being without you."

Audrey rolled her eyes, "Hurry up and change your clothes!"

Shane: "What are you planning to wear tonight?"

Audrey: "I’m telling you to change, stop dawdling."

Shane: "Help me pick."

Audrey adjusted the washing machine, glared at him irritably, then walked past him into the wardrobe and picked out a casual black coat, saying, "Wear a T-shirt under it, then a sweater, it’s cold outside."

Shane took the clothes from the hanger as he followed her advice, "I think tonight you should wear the bunny outfit?"

Audrey: "You’re impossible! If I’d known you’d be like this, I wouldn’t have wanted you to come back!"

Shane: "A bunny suits you well."

Audrey was exasperated, "Shane Warner!!"

Shane: "It’s quite cute."

Audrey didn’t want to argue anymore, placed the clothes on the bed and headed out the door, "I’ll wait for you downstairs, hurry up!"

Not seeing him for a few days made her miss him, but now that he’s back, she just found him irritating.

But once he learns she’s pregnant, he surely won’t say such things anymore.

Ultimately, fantasizing about it would only make him suffer.

Audrey sat on the sofa downstairs, opened a sour plum drink package, and popped one into her mouth, imagining how Shane would react once he found out he was going to be a father.

In her impression, he had always been calm and composed no matter the situation. Maybe soon, she would get to see a different side of him?

Surprise? Excitement? Joyous babbling?
