Chapter 464: Chapter 464: The Punishment Hasn’t Begun Yet

Clarissa Morgan appeared just in time, and everyone looked at her with sympathetic eyes, consciously making way for her.

Seeing the absurd scene inside the room, Clarissa Morgan perfectly portrayed a shock and disbelief as if she knew nothing about it.

She looked at Quentin Sterling and Vanessa Sterling with disappointed eyes, silently shedding tears.

Miles Sterling didn’t know what was happening over there, nor was he interested in Quentin Sterling’s affairs. Seeing a bunch of people gathered in front of Quentin’s room, he didn’t join the commotion, but went straight to his own room, noticing the absence of Vanessa Sterling as Wendy Jennings’s angry curses came from outside: "You shameless thing! How are you any different from a whore?! You could actually do such a thing?!"

In this household, there was only one person that Wendy Jennings dared to curse like that.

Miles Sterling didn’t know what had happened, but he immediately pushed the door open and hurried out.

Parting the gathered crowd, he saw Wendy Jennings holding a wooden stool, viciously throwing it at Vanessa Sterling, who was curled up in the corner.

Vanessa Sterling instinctively used her hands to block, but her frail arms couldn’t withstand such force, and the stool still landed heavily on her.

"I think you’ve lost your mind! Daring to drug your own uncle! Just a wild girl trying all means to climb up the social ladder like a phoenix, right?! Watch today as I beat you to death!" Wendy Jennings cursed as she looked for something else to hit Vanessa Sterling with.

The people outside whispered among themselves, but no one dared to step forward to say anything.

Most of them were out-of-town relatives, not living in the Sterling’s house permanently, and they didn’t know what the situation was, so they didn’t want to express any opinions.

Miles Sterling still didn’t quite understand what was happening, but from Wendy Jennings’s words, he could more or less guess the truth.

With a calm face, he walked toward Vanessa Sterling who was cowering in the corner, taking a glance at Quentin Sterling who was sitting on the bed with his clothes half undone and a somewhat complex expression.

Wendy Jennings grabbed a nearby bottle of red wine and, without thinking, threw it at Vanessa Sterling. The bottle had already left her hand when she saw her son walking in that direction. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Miles Sterling used his arm to block the wine bottle that was about to hit Vanessa Sterling, altering its trajectory, shattering on the ground with a crash, the deep red liquid flowing across the white floor.

Vanessa Sterling huddled in the corner, shivering with her hands over her head.

Her appearance was one Miles Sterling was all too familiar with.

"Son, get out of the way! I’ve always told you this woman is no good! Today I must finish her off!"

Miles Sterling acted as though he hadn’t heard Wendy Jennings’s words, not only refusing to step aside but also pulling Vanessa Sterling up from the ground, looking at Wendy Jennings with a calm expression: "Mom, have you figured out the reason behind all this? Is she really the one at fault?"

"If not her, then who? Huh? So many eyes saw it! She seduced your uncle! How shameless does one have to be to do something like this? Her life was a gift from our Sterling family, and instead of gratitude, she bites us back! Just look at what she’s done?!"

Miles Sterling had never been fond of any entanglement between Vanessa Sterling and Quentin Sterling. While he knew Vanessa had always admired Quentin, he was aware she didn’t have the guts for such an open seduction. She never dared to show her feelings for Quentin, let alone do something so outrageous.

Between Quentin Sterling and Vanessa Sterling, Miles Sterling certainly wouldn’t speak in Quentin’s defense: "How do you know it wasn’t Uncle who seduced her? Are you telling me a well-built man can be taken advantage of by a young girl barely five feet tall?"

Wendy Jennings glared fiercely at Miles Sterling: "What nonsense are you talking?! Apologize to your uncle properly!"

Clarissa Morgan walked up to Quentin Sterling, tears in her eyes as she asked him: "Is what he says true?"

Quentin Sterling’s mind was still a mess. He hadn’t sorted out what exactly had happened, but he knew he wasn’t the one who initiated with Vanessa Sterling.

"Clarissa, I..."

Clarissa Morgan cried out: "Isn’t she your niece?! Why would you do such a thing?!"

Wendy Jennings hurried over to speak kindly: "Clarissa, don’t be upset. It’s certainly not Quentin’s fault. This calamity girl clearly had bad intentions from the start. I knew something would happen once she came today!"

Clarissa Morgan, head down, bit her lip and sobbed silently, looking utterly wronged.

To appease Clarissa Morgan’s anger, Wendy Jennings suddenly turned and gave Vanessa Sterling a hard slap across the face, the force so strong that Vanessa nearly lost her balance. Fortunately, Miles Sterling held onto her arm, keeping her steady.

It was just that he couldn’t block that slap from Wendy.

Seeing Vanessa Sterling’s face rapidly swell and redden, one could imagine the heaviness of that slap.

"Son, move aside! Today I must finish off this little fox!" Wendy Jennings tugged forcefully at Vanessa Sterling’s arm, as if trying to drag her down the stairs for a beating.

Miles Sterling brushed off Wendy Jennings’s hand, protecting Vanessa Sterling in his embrace, as he looked at Wendy and said: "Even if she has done wrong, it’s not your place to punish her. And why are you so quick to trust Quentin Sterling? Is it because in your heart he’s always been infallible? Or because he currently holds the reins of the Sterling family and you dare not offend him?!"

Hearing those words, Wendy Jennings was on the verge of tears from anxiety: "Oh, don’t speak carelessly! Quickly apologize to your uncle!"

Miles Sterling let out a cold laugh, muttering softly in mockery: "You have always been like this anyway."

With that, he took Vanessa Sterling by the hand and headed towards the door, angrily rebuking the onlookers standing by the door: "Move aside!"

Everyone knew about Miles Sterling’s temper; even Wendy Jennings, who wanted to chase after them, felt that it was more crucial to calm Clarissa Morgan and Quentin Sterling, worried that Vanessa Sterling’s mistake might implicate her beloved son.

"Clarissa, Quentin, don’t worry. I’ll make sure to discipline her properly. This whole thing is that wild girl’s doing. I will find the chance to deal with her. Don’t take it to heart."

Clarissa Morgan, covering her mouth, hurriedly ran out the door with her head down.

"Clarissa!" Seeing this, Quentin Sterling didn’t even bother with shoes and rushed after her.

Seeing the main players leave, the crowd finally started buzzing with discussion.

Vanessa Sterling, disoriented from Wendy Jennings’s slap, only found her mind clearing as they reached the parking lot, as the ringing in her ears finally subsided.

Miles Sterling opened the car door and rather unceremoniously shoved her inside. Saying nothing, he circled the car to the driver’s seat and drove off immediately.

Even though Miles Sterling had spoken up for her earlier, Vanessa Sterling didn’t feel any gratitude toward him, because she knew, the punishment was yet to begin...
