Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 447: Offering Audrey Sutton to Him
Clarissa Morgan drove home, hearing noises coming from the kitchen. Shortly after, the household servant came out, smiling as she greeted her, "Madam is back?"
Clarissa nodded, standing in the entrance changing her shoes, she glanced towards the house and asked, "Hasn’t he come back yet?"
The servant smiled and replied, "Sir has been home all afternoon, seems to be preoccupied with something. He might have gone upstairs now."
Clarissa’s heart skipped a beat, she changed her shoes and headed upstairs.
Just as she reached the stairs, Quentin Sterling heard the noise downstairs and came down, smiling gently at her, "Back so early today?"
Clarissa’s smile carried a hint of guilt, but seeing Quentin’s appearance showed no significant change. She was puzzled about what Audrey Sutton had sent Quentin. Or maybe Audrey just intended to bluff her, perhaps she didn’t have any photos at all?
"Yes, came back from school after class." Clarissa smiled as she replied.
Quentin Sterling: "Dinner is almost ready, do you want to shower first or eat and then shower?"
Clarissa said, "I’m sweaty, I’ll go shower first."
Quentin nodded, standing there waiting for Clarissa to come up, then he wrapped his arm around her and walked her into the bedroom.
Clarissa hesitated for a moment and asked him, "Are you feeling unwell? The maid said you seemed preoccupied."
Quentin smiled reassuringly, "Why would I have anything on my mind? Just some troubles at work, but they’ve mostly been resolved, no need to worry."
Clarissa observed Quentin’s reaction, thinking that he cared for her deeply; even if Audrey had sent something, he’d probably choose to believe her unconditionally.
Besides, she doubted Audrey had any leverage against her.
Quentin Sterling: "Go shower first, I’ll grab your clothes for you."
"Thank you, Quentin."
"No need to thank me."
Clarissa smiled and walked into the bathroom, soaking in the bathtub while checking her phone when that jerk messaged her again: Come over tonight, I’ve prepared something fun.
Whenever Clarissa saw the name "Nolan Hawke," she thought of his repulsive face and the disgusting things he did to her.
Just thinking about it made her grit her teeth in hatred.
But she continuously reminded herself to keep calm, everything would find a resolution.
Currently, Clarissa was unsure if Quentin had received Audrey’s text, but she knew she couldn’t let him suspect anything during this sensitive time; the identity of Mrs. Sterling was too beneficial to be jeopardized for the likes of Nolan Hawke.
She thought for a moment, typed a message, and replied: I have a commitment tonight.
Nolan Hawke responded almost instantly: You sure haven’t figured out your predicament yet.
Clarissa: I’ve promised you, I’ll find a way to get Audrey Sutton to you, so please ease off on me.
Nolan Hawke: Audrey Sutton hasn’t come yet, and since I can’t have her, I’ll have to make do with you for now; seven tonight is your final deadline, if you’re late... you know the consequences.
Clarissa gripped her phone tightly, almost grinding her teeth.
"Knock knock—" After the knock, Quentin’s gentle voice came through the door: "Clarissa, dinner’s ready, hurry up."
Clarissa took a deep breath, calmed herself, and replied softly, "Okay."
Everything was troubling her, all seemed to veer off her original plan...
When Clarissa left the bathroom, the bedroom was empty.
She prepared to walk to the vanity table to apply skincare products, seeing Quentin’s phone charging on the bedside.
She glanced at the closed bedroom door, everything was silent inside and out.
She put down the towel used to wipe her hair and walked to the bedside cabinet, picking up his phone and unlocking it with her fingerprint.
She browsed his WhatsApp first, finding no trace of Audrey Sutton, and then opened the text messages. Besides two unread advertisements, the third was from Audrey Sutton.
Clarissa froze slightly, opening the message sent by Audrey Sutton and frowned gradually.
The photo depicted her drinking with Nolan Hawke at a bar; only the two of them were present. It seemed like the night she was drugged....
There were two photos in total, different angles but similar content.
Clarissa pondered calmly, slightly exhaling in relief.
She could still explain the contents of these photos to Quentin.
However... If they were taken that night, could there be other images? How did Audrey Sutton get these photos?
Apparently, she had underestimated Audrey Sutton. If these photos fell into Audrey’s hands, the position of Mrs. Sterling might be in jeopardy.
Suddenly she remembered Audrey mentioned living a steady life to secure the position of Mrs. Sterling.
Apparently, Audrey indeed had leverage against her.
Before Clarissa could think of a strategy, footsteps were heard outside the room, prompting her to quickly set the phone down and act as if nothing had happened by the vanity table.
Quentin Sterling pushed the door open, smiling at her: "Finished?"
Clarissa smiled and nodded: "Yes, just applying some moisturizer then I’ll come down."
They exchanged a glance for two seconds, both wanting to say something but stopping themselves, then Quentin turned and walked downstairs.
Clarissa’s smile faded, her expression slightly flustered.
She suddenly felt afraid, if Audrey had more images from that night, she’d never be able to deceive Quentin.
Quentin loved her deeply, if he discovered these, he’d probably turn from love to hatred and block her career path.
No, she had to quickly find a way to end the marriage before Quentin discovered everything, making him feel he’s in the wrong.
She might have to give up the position of Mrs. Sterling, but her career couldn’t be ruined.
He needed to feel guilty after the divorce, thus potentially allowing her to continue utilizing his influence.
As for what method, one person came to her mind...
After dinner, Clarissa left under the guise of rehearsal; Quentin seemed suspicious about her departure but said nothing except urging her not to overdo it.
Clarissa, on high alert, instructed the driver to take her to the dance studio, confirmed Quentin wasn’t following, then hailed a cab to Nolan Hawke’s place.
Despite the disdain she felt for that location.
To endure small discomforts for the bigger picture, since he had already taken her, another time didn’t matter.
Another endurance, just get Audrey Sutton to him, and it all ends...
