Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 236: Dawdling
After signing the contract, Seraphina Redgrave felt like her hand was no longer her own. Just as she got back into the car, she received a call from Ethan Sterling.
"Quite wealthy, huh?"
Ethan Sterling’s slightly mocking voice tapped at Seraphina Redgrave’s nerves.
"Well, all the money you spent on buying my paintings went into investments, and then I used the earnings to buy a house. Consider it another way of repaying you?"
Seraphina Redgrave leaned against the driver’s seat, showing a trace of relaxation on her face.
"I don’t lack money."
Repayment? Seraphina Redgrave’s little bit of money wouldn’t even account for one percent of his company’s daily transactions.
"Exactly, how could Young Master Sterling ever lack money?" Seraphina Redgrave found it amusing, "How did you find out?"
The property market isn’t one of the Sterling Family’s main businesses; how did the news reach him?
"The manager at Banyan Court was worried about people maliciously hoarding houses, but didn’t want to miss out on money you had, so they asked up the chain. Nathan Ayers happened to know about it and just told me," Ethan Sterling explained patiently.
"I was wondering how they decided so quickly over there; turns out it was a direct decision."
No wonder the manager wasn’t at all concerned about her reasons for buying so many houses.
Seraphina Redgrave wanted to say something else, but heard knocking sounds from Ethan Sterling’s side, likely work-related issues, "You handle your business first; I have to rush back to school."
"Oh."
Ethan Sterling’s tone suddenly cooled down.
This little woman actually wasn’t interested in chatting with him?
"What’s wrong?"
Seraphina Redgrave could tell he was unhappy.
"Nothing. By the way, when are you implementing that plan?" Ethan Sterling asked.
"Hmm?" Seraphina Redgrave didn’t quite follow.
"Rebuilding Veridian Isle." Ethan Sterling expressed dissatisfaction, "You’re going to do it anyway, could you hurry up?"
Since she claimed there was now time to ponder these matters, she shouldn’t be dawdling.
"..."
Seraphina Redgrave was speechless; she’d never thought Ethan Sterling would one day urge her to quickly implement the plan. Really.....impulsive?
She chuckled, "I’ve already submitted my application to The Law Council; once the final results are out—if I’m elected—I can have a place in The Law Council, and my words will carry more weight."
She didn’t hide her thoughts from Ethan Sterling.
She had to take it step by step, couldn’t fight without preparation, and needed to win people’s hearts to gain public support.
"That’s way too slow."
Ethan Sterling frowned, with a tad of petulance in his tone.
"This is a big deal, can’t rush it."
She needed to be completely sure before taking action.
"Oh, suit yourself then." Ethan Sterling snorted coldly and hung up.
Seraphina Redgrave listened to the beep-beep tone from the phone, feeling exasperated yet amused. Last time, she read about Scorpios’ attitude toward love, how they were insecure and fickle, and it was indeed well-founded.
Seraphina Redgrave put down her phone, started the car, and in her sight appeared an upscale art gallery.
Its name, "Seraphina," was one she invested in, and it was now the most famous gallery in Sovereign, housing not only paintings but various rare collectibles.
Every day brought substantial income, allowing Seraphina Redgrave to purchase hundreds of houses with ease.
Seraphina Redgrave parked her car in the garage, then walked into the gallery.
Upon entering, she saw pure white walls, seemingly meant to evoke starlight, reflecting different colors under the sunlight, making one feel as if they were in a galaxy.
Stepping further inside, the paint on the walls appeared randomly splattered, very creative.
Within the gallery, various mood-evoking fine paintings hung on the walls, alongside precious collectibles encased in glass.
Seraphina Redgrave was exceptional at using light, utilizing the contrast of shadows and light to arrange the entire gallery like a fairyland.
"Miss Shaw."
A man with an artistic flair approached Seraphina Redgrave; he was the gallery’s nominal owner.
Seraphina Redgrave was unwilling to reveal her identity, so her assets were in others’ names.
Actually, the owner didn’t know Seraphina Redgrave was his true boss; he only followed orders from the hidden boss, who instructed him to treat Seraphina well and regard her words as commands upon meeting her.
"Hmm."
Seraphina Redgrave’s gaze was mild, admiring the paintings on the walls.
"Miss Shaw, are you here for some appreciation?" the owner asked with concern.
Seraphina Redgrave seemed contemplative, after a moment pointing to a painting on the wall, "It shouldn’t be here. Hang it over there, by the window."
The owner paused for a moment before quickly responding, "Alright."
He immediately called staff over to relocate the painting, gingerly hanging it by the window, and the ambiance transformed instantly.
Some light struck the painting as if breathing life into it, resembling a leisurely girl from the European countryside last century.
This was what the wealthy truly appreciated!
"Miss Shaw truly has an acute eye," the owner couldn’t help but praise. "I once had the honor of seeing Miss Redgrave’s paintings—such as ’Tower.’ Even if Picasso were alive, he’d vie for this piece, yet now it’s kept at school, what a pity."
Upon hearing this, Seraphina Redgrave smiled. Unexpectedly, the notion targeted her, yet he was truly someone who understood art.
Seraphina Redgrave spoke, directly getting to the point, "I need you to help me with two things."
"Miss Shaw, feel free to speak," the owner had no reason to refuse.
"First, you need to keep a private room for me, no one else is allowed to enter, and the key should only be kept with me."
Seraphina Redgrave continued, "Second, find me the finest wood sculptor, someone who can carve wood lifelike."
After listening, the owner nodded, "Is Miss Shaw planning to carve paintings into wood?"
"It’s not for others to carve; I want to learn it myself," Seraphina Redgrave said softly.
"Learning to blend painting with wood carving?" The owner was incredulous, "I’ve heard it’s an extremely difficult art form, it takes years for mere beginners."
"You don’t need to worry about whether I learn it well; just help me find someone," Seraphina Redgrave trusted the owner would find a skilled artist within his circle.
"Alright." The owner didn’t say more.
"Hmm, then carry on. I have other matters to attend to; I’m leaving." Seraphina Redgrave walked out, her brows tinged with joy.
Ethan Sterling once complained to her that despite all he’d given, she hadn’t reciprocated at all.
Sometimes it wasn’t about not wanting to reciprocate, but he’d truly given too much.
She hadn’t given him a proper gift yet, so this time she’d do so.
Lately, she’s been feeling good, learning should come quickly.
...
The summer heat gradually receded, bringing the chill of autumn.
Selena Quinn finally parted ways with Serena Lowell, exiting the Sterling Family’s car, "I want to go shopping; you guys can head back first."
"Yes." The driver and bodyguards departed.
She waited by the roadside until the car left her sight before moving on.
She entered an ordinary women’s clothing store. After a while, a well-dressed woman emerged—it was Selena Quinn.
Her luxury brand attire was switched for a lesser-known brand, with a scarf around her face, topped with a baseball cap, making her difficult to recognize.
