Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 209
Ethan Sterling lifted his head and looked at the city wall, slowly raising his somewhat trembling hand to wrap around the girl in the middle, as if treating the most precious treasure in the world.
Why?
Why is she so happy?
Why can’t I hold on?
Why doesn’t she want to smile at me?
"Get off, I need to make a call." Ethan suddenly spoke.
Nathan Ayers replied respectfully, then opened the car door and stepped out to stand by the side.
Ethan opened the contact list, and her name was at the top: Seraphina.
He dialed the number, lightly pressed the phone to his ear, waiting for the call to connect while staring into the distance.
"Hello." In an instant, it was as if the once hollow soul was filled with something, and his heart felt tight, both sweet and sour.
Her voice was light and bright, it seemed she was truly happy.
Ethan steadied himself: "When are you planning to come back?"
Seraphina Redgrave glanced at Ronan Yates and the others still playing around her and couldn’t help but laugh, responding to Ethan, "I’ll be back soon."
"Come back? Why! Seraphina, aren’t you going to have dinner with us later?" Ronan and the others clamorously protested, unwilling to let Seraphina just leave like that.
"Seraphina, Elite Society has a weekly dinner, we can’t be outdone!" Ronan’s peculiar reasoning.
"Yeah, yeah, Seraphina, have dinner with us."
It was so noisy, Seraphina covered one ear and tried to speak loudly to the man on the other end of the line, "Have you eaten yet?"
If he had already eaten, then he shouldn’t have too much of an opinion on her going out for dinner.
Hmm, not that he wouldn’t have an opinion, just not as much.
Silence, there was only silence on the other end, making Seraphina wonder if the call had been disconnected.
"I don’t want my Little Rose to become a wild rose."
Ethan’s cold voice resonated in her eardrum.
"..."
Although she felt somewhat speechless inside, Seraphina didn’t ignore the unusual tone in his voice.
"Do you have something on your mind?"
"Yes, something."
"..." She didn’t expect this man to answer so straightforwardly.
Ethan sat in the spacious leather seat in the back, with a sly smile, his sexy Adam’s apple sliding up and down, his aggressive eyes gazing in Seraphina’s direction.
It was such a rogue remark, yet coming from his lips, it was somewhat excessively seductive.
There was also a trace of longing that was hard to detect.
The people around her were still engrossed in their conversation, and nobody heard Ethan’s words.
Seraphina was momentarily stunned, quickly snapped back to reality, realizing his words were still indecent, her skin crawled with goosebumps.
"Speak properly!"
"So are you coming back or not? If not, I’ll find someone else." Ethan said impatiently.
Did this guy not take the injury on his shoulder seriously? Injured like that and still looking for someone?
Seraphina silently mocked in her heart.
But what she said was different, "You should be more restrained, Dr. Goodwin mentioned, you’re not supposed to..."
"Tch, I’ll go find someone now, forget it if you’re not coming." Ethan interrupted Seraphina and then hung up.
As Seraphina listened to the sound of the dial tone, she could only feel helpless.
...
In the end, Seraphina didn’t go to the dinner; instead, she transferred a large sum of money to Ronan, telling them to have a nice meal.
Then she took a taxi back to Hibiscus Garden.
She opened the gate in front of the yard, roses bloomed freely, flaunting their beauty in this relative freedom.
There was no one in Hibiscus Garden, it was very quiet.
"He really went, huh..." Seraphina murmured to herself, ...
Clearly aware that she was not like ordinary people, and yet in a state of injury he’d still cause trouble, what if something unexpected happened?
If there’s any problem, it’ll end up being blamed on her again, saying it was to save her that he ended up like this.
Seraphina looked at the empty entrance, an unexplainable irritation surged within her, she switched to slippers after entering, planning to head back to her room.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrapped tightly around her slender waist.
She gave a startled jolt, immediately looking down at the hand that appeared out of nowhere in front of her waist, the cat tattoo on the wrist revealing the owner’s identity.
"Mmmm—" Seraphina hummed softly, feeling someone viciously bite her earlobe, a bit painful.
The hand around her waist tightened, seemingly conveying the emotions of the man behind her.
Before she could react, the man’s kiss came pouring down overwhelmingly.
His thin lips, yet carrying a burning temperature, seemed like they wanted to imprint themselves into Seraphina’s memory.
He didn’t leave?
Seraphina was momentarily dazed, unable to discern the emotion of that thought.
She awkwardly dodged his kiss, "Ethan..."
Ethan didn’t give her a chance to speak, gently lifting her by the waist, placing her on the cabinet beside them.
With one hand propped next to her head, Ethan leaned in so closely that there was almost no distance between them.
His warm breath nearly spread across Seraphina’s face, so scorching it made her heart tingle and feel numb.
Seraphina raised her eyes, seeing Ethan’s pair of bloodshot eyes.
"?" What happened to him, why is he in such a rush?
"Do you want to join The Law Council?"
Ethan clasped her wrists, raising them above her head in a position of absolute control.
The news spread quickly, she had just brought it up not long ago.
Seraphina twisted her body slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable, she didn’t like the feeling of being controlled.
Ethan held her hands firmly, preventing her from moving.
Seraphina gave up, saying helplessly: "Yes, but the President hasn’t agreed immediately, only said he is willing to give me the opportunity."
In her heart, she was somewhat happy, she had worked so hard for so long, finally gaining an entry ticket.
The next step, she could rebuild Veridian Isle!
Ethan stared deeply at her, barely audible sigh leaving his lips, "Do you think Miles Harrington truly appreciates you? He just wants to capitalize on you."
"I know." Seraphina’s eyes carried no emotion.
Miles Harrington wasn’t dumb enough to offer such benefits to a group of students without background, but it’s just a matter of mutual need.
"What do you know!" Ethan’s tone was impatient.
"If Miles Harrington knows your intentions, do you think you’ll have a chance or even leave The Law Council?"
"I know this too." Seraphina remained so calm, forming a stark contrast with Ethan’s urgency.
She had been at The Law School for so long, the more she learned, the more she understood the heavy burden on her shoulders.
Rebuilding Veridian Isle is hard, but she wants to do it, not only wants to but definitely will succeed.
What stands in front of her is the entrenched elite system of Z country and all the desperate means those people would employ to preserve their interests.
But so what, who can stop her?
