Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 208: Dreams
Rory and the others were intrigued by Ronan Yates’ words, and their feet unconsciously moved forward, straddling the edge of the city wall, gazing at the beautiful scenery afar.
Several girls, mustering their courage, also wanted to sit up there. With the boys’ help, they steadied themselves to sit.
The girls’ legs swung gently, although they had just spoken of fear, now that they were truly seated up there, their worries dissipated.
The bolder one even spread her arms, embracing the beauty of nature.
"Seraphina?"
Claire Ford turned her head, seeing Seraphina Redgrave standing alone behind them, her expression unchanged, but her eyes full of gentleness.
"Come on, Seraphina!"
Ronan Yates also turned his head, waving at Seraphina Redgrave, scooting over to leave a spot for her.
Seraphina Redgrave turned her head, internally mocking their silliness but the slight curve of her lips revealed her mood.
In the end, Seraphina Redgrave walked over with her long, slender legs.
The group sat neatly on the ancient, worn city wall.
The distant skyline was somewhat obscured by the bustling city, giving it an unreal feel as they watched the pedestrians below, feeling as if they held dominion over the world.
This environment was most relaxing, and from someone unknown, they began shouting their dreams one after the other.
"I will become the greatest scientist, the top expert in our country, Z!"
Rory cupped her hands around her mouth, screaming hysterically.
"I will design the most exquisite houses in the world, becoming the most awesome architect! My admirers will line up from here to Paris!"
Claire Ford, usually shy, began to shout: "I never dared to try before, but now I have the courage! Thank you, Seraphina!"
Seraphina Redgrave looked at the petite girl beside her, her pale face flushed with effort, yet very adorable.
Seeing everyone shouting their dreams, James Lynch thought for a moment and then yelled: "Our Defiance Society must become the greatest society on earth! We don’t believe in fate! We only believe in ourselves!"
"I want to make money! Lots and lots of money!" Beatrice Fawcett shouted passionately, her eyes full of stars beneath her long eyelashes.
Seraphina Redgrave founded The Defiance Society with everyone, giving them hope. Meeting the President today showed them the possibility of success.
They thought they’d be crushed by the upper classes their entire lives, so how could they not be excited by these achievements!
"I love Seraphina! I want to be Seraphina’s follower forever! Seraphina kills, I clean up! Seraphina sleeps, I bring her a pillow!" Ronan Yates shouted with all his might, his voice nearly breaking in the wind.
This time, Seraphina Redgrave truly smiled, her mouth wide, beaming brightly.
Suddenly, everyone quieted down, looking uniformly at Seraphina Redgrave.
They were waiting for Seraphina Redgrave.
Her gaze gradually cooled, pale fingers gripping a bottle of water, her face full of determination.
She didn’t shout excitedly, nor was her mood high, she stated earnestly: "I want to rebuild a place."
Her voice was soft, but no one doubted the truth in her words.
"Seraphina, what place do you want to rebuild?"
Ronan Yates scratched his head, quite puzzled.
"Hell on earth." This was Seraphina Redgrave’s deepest memory of Veridian Isle.
The survival of the fittest—this was not a human world, but an animal kingdom, devoid of humanity and emotion, only endless strife.
She wanted to rebuild there! To save those innocent people.
Everyone was baffled, "What hell on earth? Seraphina, do you mean those battlefields?" Claire Ford couldn’t help but ask.
Seraphina Redgrave didn’t continue to explain.
"When it’s time for you to know, you will naturally find out."
Now was not the time to say more; she still lacked the power, but that day would ultimately come!
Everyone knew Seraphina Redgrave didn’t want to talk about it, so they tactfully asked no more.
Ronan Yates laughed heartily, patting his chest, "Seraphina, whatever you plan for the future, I will support you unwaveringly! Follow you!"
"Me too!" Beatrice Fawcett was the first to respond.
"Me too!"
"Me too!"
...
Everyone rushed to answer, eager to confide their sincerity to Seraphina Redgrave.
Seraphina Redgrave was amused by them, "Alright, I’ll remember all these words; don’t forget them in the future!"
"Okay! We definitely won’t forget!"
They sat on the city wall, discussing their future, their aspirations.
Not far away, by the roadside, a pitch-black sedan was parked, particularly prominent on the deserted road. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The luxurious car had been parked there for an unknown duration.
The man in the back seat had thin lips and a smooth, white face that exuded a cold sharpness.
He seemed somewhat restless, casually unbuttoning the top two buttons of his shirt, with his other hand resting on the window, propping his head.
The cat tattoo on his wrist was lifelike, seemingly about to escape.
His thick eyebrows rebelliously arched slightly upward, his deep and dark eyes brimming with unknown emotions.
He saw them, the group sitting on the city wall talking and laughing, acting intimately like rare, good friends.
The girl sitting right in the middle, so pure and lovely, immediately captured his attention.
He couldn’t resist stretching out his hand to touch her, but they were too far apart.
So far, it seemed that the next moment Seraphina Redgrave would drift away.
He guessed, surely his girl was smiling, right? What was she shouting? What were her wishes?
Sitting in the driver’s seat, Nathan Ayers observed his boss through the rearview mirror.
Young Master Sterling initially intended to greet Seraphina Redgrave directly at The Presidential Palace and bring her back to Hibiscus Garden, but for some unknown reason, after seeing those people climb the city wall, he just asked him to park there.
The contrast between motion and stillness was stark and unsettling.
The joyful sounds didn’t convey even the slightest bit over here.
"Did you see it?" Ethan Sterling’s tone was faint, hard to discern his true feelings.
"Yes, I saw it." Nathan Ayers pondered what he should say, "They’re young, young people are like that. But I didn’t expect Miss Redgrave to join them."
"Yes, she would actually join in too." Ethan Sterling murmured.
He then suddenly asked, "Do you think she’s happy now?"
Happier than when she’s with me.
Nathan Ayers didn’t answer, momentarily stunned by the tone...
He had never heard this from Ethan Sterling before; Young Master Sterling seemed to be feeling weak? Dejected?
Nathan Ayers again observed Ethan Sterling through the rearview mirror.
Ethan Sterling lowered his eyes, thick lashes veiling his gaze, yet somehow the aura he emitted was no longer sharp and piercing, daring no one to draw near.
Instead, there was a fragility feeling, making him appear quite pitiful.
"Young Master Sterling..." Nathan Ayers wanted to comfort him, but as he opened his mouth, no words came out.
