Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 522 - 521: I’m Really Afraid
"There is!"
Serena Sullivan thought of a place and replied.
As Ethan Grant pushed her out of the mall, he remembered the appointment with Finn Chandler.
It had been over ten minutes, Finn hadn’t shown up, nor had there been a text message.
"Wait for Finn Chandler."
"He won’t come."
Ethan said confidently, then carried Serena into a car parked outside the mall.
Serena wanted to visit Aethelmere in the Imperial Capital.
There were many people at Aethelmere in the Imperial Capital this time of year, during spring when the flowers bloom. There are even more tourists, and Serena had never been here before, she loved the scenery at the lake and the wind that blew under the sunlight made her feel completely tipsy.
Ethan’s mind wasn’t on the scenery of Aethelmere, it was wholly focused on Serena.
Tourists were too tired, he was afraid they would bump into Serena, so he pushed her outwards while pushing himself inward.
Serena turned her head and noticed Ethan leaning to the side, smiled and replied, "You could move me a bit sideways."
If both moved further from the lake, it would be fine.
"You want to see the lake view."
Ethan replied.
He noticed Serena really liked it here, liked being near the lake, so he pushed her to walk along the lakeside, while he stood on the inside. If someone really came along, he’d promptly push Serena aside; if anyone fell into the lake, it would be him.
Ethan’s answer made Serena chuckle lightly.
Really a bit silly!
"Still angry?"
After laughing, Serena asked Ethan.
Mentions of "angry," reminded Ethan he hadn’t forgiven Serena.
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
"I did tell you."
She sent him a message, the old man also invited him to the event, but he wouldn’t come.
"Finn Chandler knew before me."
Ethan said softly. In the morning, after leaving Deepwood, he pondered and called Finn, intending to tell him that Serena was in the Imperial Capital.
Upon calling, he learned Finn knew before him, and they had arranged to meet at the mall.
Ethan’s mood instantly worsened, Finn knew before him.
This jealousy was particularly terrifying.
On the phone, he threatened Finn not to meet with Serena, and rushed over himself.
More than being angry with Serena, Ethan feared she would suddenly disappear from his sight.
"Sorry."
As Ethan thought about it, he heard Serena speaking to him.
He slowed his steps, moving Serena to a less crowded place.
They couldn’t handle even a bit more turmoil, so if things happened, they had to talk face-to-face.
"Serena, I’m truly scared!"
He spoke, eyes reddening, squatting before Serena.
"Scared of what?" Serena knowingly asked, smiled and countered.
"Scared you don’t want me anymore."
This time her disappearance was more terrifying than four years ago.
Four years ago, Serena had a car accident, but he knew she was alive, possibly returning to Solaria.
He waited and waited, and in the end, she really did return.
This time, it was different.
The blood clot in Serena’s brain, her illness, at the moment of her disappearance, the string taut in his heart almost snapped.
Actually, worse than snapping.
Wanting to snap but not daring to, stubbornly holding on till now.
"Afraid I won’t hold on until you return!"
Also terrified that one day, after enduring, she’ll return but he won’t be alive.
"Then you have to take good care of your health."
Serena said softly, as the wind blew, she smelled the heavy smoke on Ethan, "You must quit smoking."
