Chapter 304: Chapter 303: He’s Scum

Through the small window in the hospital room, Anna Morgan watched the seemingly lifeless Serena Sullivan on the bed, and tears fell again.

"Don’t worry!"

Carter Lockwood tried to soften his tone, and Anna turned to look at him.

Just as Carter was about to leave, Anna suddenly grabbed his hand.

Her hands were soft and icy cold, making Carter instinctively hold them tighter, wanting to warm them up.

Realizing what she had done, Anna quickly withdrew her hand from his, "Uncle, Serena will be okay!"

She called him "Uncle" easily, but Carter felt uncomfortable hearing it.

"Mm!"

Seeing the girl’s eyes reddening, about to cry, he nodded seriously in response.

Anna smiled; Carter was a capable person, and she believed him.

The hospital room was left with Serena Sullivan and Ethan Grant, with moonlight filtering in, making everything very tranquil.

Ethan held Serena’s hand, his eyes fixed on her, unable to let go, unwilling to look away for even a moment.

He was terrified, terrified that if he let go, she would disappear.

"Serena, I was wrong."

It’s the same sentence again, but now, what can Ethan say? Whatever he says, won’t earn Serena’s forgiveness.

His eyes reddened as his gaze fell on Serena’s belly, unable to imagine that their child was once there.

The accident took away both her legs and their child.

Life and death, surely she felt it was worse than death.

His memories drifted back to four years ago.

She stood in front of him, telling him she was friends with Finn Chandler.

He didn’t believe her, already misled by those photos and the media; after she spoke, seeing his face didn’t look good, she lowered her head hesitating for a long time, wanting to say something.

What did she say!

He vaguely recalled her saying, Ethan, why don’t we get the certificate first.

Back then, the family didn’t agree, their love was hard yet sweet.

Originally, they planned to save up some money and then have a wedding.

When she brought up getting the certificate, he refused without even thinking.

How did he respond?

It seemed like he said, we’re just having fun, when did I ever say I wanted to marry you!

"Serena, let’s break up!"

He sneered as he finished, seeing the brightness in her eyes dim in that moment, he didn’t want to see it again, and as he turned away, she reached out and grabbed his clothes.

"Serena, don’t take yourself too seriously!"

Heartless words, cold and decisive words, how did he manage to utter them!

How did he fail to notice her disappointment in him, or the fact that as he left, her hand was placed on her belly.

Back then, when she suggested getting the certificate, it was because she was pregnant with their child; she wanted a home of her own.

Ethan couldn’t imagine the kind of pain he inflicted on her through his heartlessness, nor could he imagine the despair of her watching their child disappear bit by bit after the accident, while his phone couldn’t be reached!

"Serena!"

He called out with a choked voice, raising his hand to slap his own cheek hard.

"Bastard! Scum!"

He cursed himself, the noise waking Serena.

Serena opened her eyes, feeling something cool on her face, hearing more curses, she turned her head to see Ethan sitting beside her, slapping himself.

The repeated slaps left Serena bewildered.

"What are you doing!"

"Mm!"
