She seemed to be unaffected emotionally.

She even raised an eyebrow at Julian Fairchild.

Julian’s gaze gradually shifted from contemplation to helplessness.

"Alright, everyone, let’s disperse, don’t crowd together." Lucy Sterling regained her smile, looking very friendly, "Those who need to rest can rest, those who need to work can work, we’ll start eating in a bit."

"Okay."

"Julian, let’s go inside, Maeve, you should come and rest too."

"Mhm." Maeve Lane responded, "I’ll be there in a moment."

Sean Shaw and Julian Fairchild went into the bamboo house.

Maeve Lane started preparing the stove fire in the area the production team had specially cleared. There was already a stove; she just needed to light it.

While doing these tasks, Maeve thought, the production team indeed stuck to their word; they aimed for authenticity and restored every little detail.

But she also realized why those first- and second-tier celebrities didn’t want to come on this show.

Kylie Kendrick probably isn’t a big star; Maeve had never heard of her name before, probably just a second or third-tier minor celebrity.

Yet she still has such a diva attitude and can’t endure anything—not even something as simple as cooking or handling ingredients, which isn’t really hardship.

Those more prominent stars probably wouldn’t want to do this at all.

People want to see dashing men and women looking glamorous, not struggling to cook a meal.

After the fire was lit, Maeve said in Lucy Sterling’s direction, "Lucy, I’m ready here."

Lucy nodded, "I’ll just spray some air freshener here, hold on a second."

"Okay."

After finishing her tasks, Maeve entered the bamboo house, and before entering, she saw Kylie Kendrick sitting impatiently on a bench cleaning ingredients.

Lucy was quick, and shortly she finished cooking. As she plated the dish, she smiled, "Alright, everyone can eat now."

"Smells great."

"Lucy, your cooking skills are getting better and better."

"Not too bad." Lucy smiled, "Everyone, eat plenty."

"Let’s dig in, don’t be shy."

Sean Shaw and Lucy Sterling picked up their chopsticks and started eating.

Kylie Kendrick casually chatted with them, as if nothing had happened a moment ago, and she even smiled while talking to Maeve.

Julian Fairchild ate a few bites too, but seemed to deliberately avoid anything Kylie had touched, only taking some vegetables and fish.

The fish was prepared by Lucy, not Kylie.

Maeve wasn’t really feeling hungry; she usually ate little, and with Kylie acting up, she didn’t even feel like eating meat. After a few bites of fish, she was done.

Though everyone ate with smiles, the dishes on the table were barely touched.

Kylie felt incredibly awkward inside, thinking that they all despised her!

Once the show aired, who knows what those gossip accounts would say about her.

She put some meat in her bowl, thinking that eating more might ease the embarrassment.

The more awkward part was having to spend another month with them.

Leaving now would breach her contract, and she would have to pay a huge penalty.

Thinking about washing vegetables for over a month made Kylie feel awful!

"I’m done eating." Maeve stood up first, then smiled at the others still eating, "I’m going upstairs, I’m a bit tired."

"Okay, rest well."

Julian got up too, "I’m heading out as well."

At the table, only Lucy Sterling, Sean Shaw, and Kylie Kendrick were left.

The three exchanged glances, remained silent, and continued eating quietly. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Maeve walked ahead, Julian followed behind her; there were no photographers in the bamboo house, but there were several cameras.

As she passed the stairwell, suddenly someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the side stairwell.

Maeve’s startled exclamation was muffled by the man’s hand, and she blinked, "What’s up?"

"After this show is over, leave the industry."

Maeve chuckled lightly, "Why do you always say this?"

"The people in this circle are too complicated." Julian pondered for a few seconds and said, "It’s not suitable for you."

"I won’t be bullied by them." Maeve gently patted the man’s face and said, "Don’t worry."

"Were you helping me earlier?" Maeve realized, "I was puzzled at the time why you suddenly asked who would handle those ingredients... you wanted Kylie to take the initiative to handle it, didn’t you?"
