Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 107: Give Them Some Privacy
"But in your eyes, there’s no love."
Julian Fairchild stood behind Maeve Lane, her entire figure almost completely covered by him. His brow was lowered, making it hard to see his expression.
Director Dayne noticed Maeve blinking in confusion, her long eyelashes like a fan, as if she didn’t understand. So he asked, "Have you ever had a boyfriend?"
Maeve was momentarily taken aback, then nodded, "Yes."
"Then try looking at Julian with the gaze you would use for your boyfriend," Director Dayne suggested. "We’ll need to do a close-up of your eyes, so think carefully."
Maeve thought to herself, Julian Fairchild is really her boyfriend, and he’s the one she’s been with the longest.
After Director Dayne finished speaking, he had all the crew prepare again.
In the camera, Maeve sits up and gazes into the distance at Julian.
"Cut—this doesn’t feel right."
Maeve tried hard to find that feeling of "deeply loving" someone that Director Dayne mentioned, but couldn’t grasp it.
So—
"Cut—let’s do it again."
"—again."
"—cut, your gaze is still off. Your eyes need to show love, the man in front of you is someone you’ve liked for many years, but you can’t reveal your identity as a woman. This bittersweet unrequited love also needs to be conveyed through your eyes."
"Stop, wrong again—"
Having NG’d over a dozen takes, Maeve furrowed her brow.
Seeing that Maeve seemed really off today, Director Dayne was not upset and gently spoke, "This really might be a bit tough, let’s move to the next scene for now. We can shoot this again when you’re in the right state."
Maeve nodded. Although Director Dayne said so, it certainly couldn’t be postponed for too long, but... how could she possibly convey that feeling?
Noticing Maeve’s perplexed expression, Director Dayne offered a suggestion, "You could try treating Julian as someone you like."
Julian walked over just in time to hear this, raising his eyebrows with indiscernible emotion.
"This way, you two can spend more time together to build rapport when you’re free, Julian has plenty of experience, you could learn from him," Director Dayne surprisingly suggested.
Julian glanced at Maeve and explained, "I don’t really have that kind of experience."
"You’re the professional actor, anyway. Alright, let’s start shooting the next scene now," Director Dayne quickly began directing, "Everyone to your positions—"
Maeve let out a small sigh and followed the crew to her shooting point.
Julian watched her leave, and then departed himself.
...
After a busy day, Maeve’s throat felt a bit dry, so she got a bottle of water from Sarah Sutton.
Seeing her somewhat spiritless demeanor, Sarah worriedly asked, "Are you too tired?"
"No." A thoughtful trace crossed Maeve’s eyes, "I’m just wondering what the gaze of ’liking’ someone looks like?"
Sarah chuckled, immediately grasping Maeve’s meaning, "I heard from others that Director Dayne held you up for a dozen takes today because of that, right?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Yes."
"That’s simple, our Fairchild is the most knowledgeable about feelings!" Miles Hughes called out from afar, "Director Dayne even mentioned for Maeve to learn from our Fairchild, didn’t he?"
Julian shot a dispassionate glance at Miles.
Miles coughed, promptly understanding, and dropped his cheeky smile.
Seeing the big boss had arrived, Sarah also greeted warmly, "That’s great, since there’s time now, Fairchild, why don’t you give Maeve some pointers?"
Upon hearing this, Miles’s eyes darted, and he stepped forward to pull Sarah away, "In that case, we should give them some private space to interact, right? Otherwise, how can Maeve open up?"
