Chapter 1059: Chapter 1055: Coming Clean with Hannah Hargrave

"If I recall correctly, I, Nicholas, have never promised you anything, nor have I ever acted intimately with you. If Miss Hargrave considers our cooperation and social interactions as a relationship, then I apologize—it was my oversight. I will be more mindful in the future."

"Nicholas?" Hannah’s face showed greater hurt, looking at Nicholas in disbelief, her grip on his wrist involuntarily tightening.

With a faint glance at the wrist being held, Nicholas reminded, "Miss Hargrave, you should avoid this kind of situation. Our identities are special, and if the media captures it, I’m a man, so it doesn’t matter much, but it might affect your reputation, Miss Hargrave."

"Nicholas, you can’t treat me this way," Hannah’s emotions were clearly agitated, reaching over with another hand to tightly grip Nicholas’s wrist, "Don’t joke like this, okay? We’ve been together for three years, and we’ve always been in sync."

"Ha," a mocking laugh interrupted Hannah. Nicholas lazily glanced at her with his dark eyes and sarcastically tugged at his lips, "Miss Hargrave, when did you learn to deceive yourself? If I remember correctly, I haven’t promised you anything, have I?"

As if struck by something, Hannah released her hands and collapsed in the chair, shaking her head repeatedly, murmuring, "No, it’s not true. We used to be wonderful..."

Seeing Hannah’s refusal to accept reality, Nicholas secretly snickered and politely asked, "Has Miss Hargrave finished her meal? Nicholas is about to pay the bill."

Without waiting for a response from Hannah, he rose, grabbed his coat, and strode towards the restaurant door.

At the dining table, Hannah continued shaking her head, muttering, "No, it’s not true. You like me..."

A tear involuntarily fell, and with a scream, Hannah lost control, lifting her arm to sweep all the items off the table onto the ground.

Exiting the restaurant, Nicholas strode towards his parking spot. Although bringing things out in the open might seem cruel to Hannah, he didn’t feel that way at all.

He wasn’t an innocent boy who didn’t understand the world, nor did he want any ambiguities with a woman. As he had said himself, during his interactions with Hannah over the past few years, he hadn’t crossed any boundaries nor subtly expressed any romantic feelings. Everything was merely what partners do, with no sign of romantic interests.

Regarding any misunderstandings, that was her issue.

He never gave her hope; it was all her own fantasies. Today, he simply shattered her dreams, letting her face reality.

Pulling open the car door, he sat in the driver’s seat. Before starting the engine, he suddenly took out his phone, finding that name. Nicholas’s stern face involuntarily softened, a gentle curve forming at the corner of his lips, and as soon as the call connected, Nicholas’s gentle voice floated over.

"Beatrice, let’s have dinner together tonight."

...

Hannah got off work early today, driving home in the afternoon, she walked into the hall and asked the maid, "Has Beatrice returned yet?"

"Miss, Second Miss hasn’t returned yet," Compared to her attitude towards Beatrice, the maid was more cautious with Hannah.

"Got it, go back to work!" Hannah climbed the stairs in her high heels, and after entering her room, she tossed her bag onto the sofa, took out her phone, and stood in the bedroom, waiting for the call to be answered, one hand on her hip.

In the practice room, because there was a teacher present, Beatrice answered Hannah’s call with a particularly friendly tone, laughingly asking, "Sis, what’s up?"
