Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1048 - 1044: A Call From Your Lover
Beatrice continued learning from the teacher, insisting that she didn’t want to step into the entertainment industry. However, now she frequently appeared in major media outlets, just like most celebrities, rushing from one engagement to another.
Of course, much of the credit goes to Nicholas Croft.
On the weekend, Nicholas called Henry Hargrave, saying he wanted to entertain a certain director and suggested bringing Beatrice along to meet him. Such a good opportunity was something Henry obviously wouldn’t miss, even though their family owned an entertainment company, they weren’t friendly with every director.
Immediately, the family’s driver took his daughter over. As soon as she walked into the private room and saw the three men inside, Beatrice realized at once that Nicholas had lied to her father.
Even though she was quite familiar with Nathan Moore and Evander Lancaster, she had to pretend otherwise. After greeting him with "Uncle Croft," she politely greeted Nathan Moore, "Hello, Director Croft."
Nathan Moore nodded slightly, his lips curving into a slight smile. Nicholas then introduced Evander Lancaster to Beatrice. Evander, naturally easygoing, quickly hit it off with Beatrice.
The three men leaned back into the couch, sipping red wine. Because of her current special status, Beatrice couldn’t afford to be as carefree as before. Seeing Nathan sitting alone in the corner, she pondered for a moment, and then stepped outside to call Titus Zane.
"Sister Zane, I need a favor. My dad asked me to entertain some clients, but I’m just a kid and I can’t handle it alone... Could you come and keep me company? Please..."
On the other end, Titus Zane, unable to refuse her request, readily agreed.
After hanging up, Beatrice returned to the private room, sitting alone in the corner of the couch, appearing rather apprehensive.
Nicholas sidled over, concerned like an elder, asking, "What were you doing just now?"
"Oh, just calling a friend,"
"You have friends in T City?" Nicholas was quite curious. Beatrice smiled and nodded, her face brimming with delight, "I know a beautiful sister; she’s my fan, and we get along really well,"
Nicholas...
Frowned a bit but didn’t ask anymore. It wasn’t until Titus Zane walked into the private room that Nicholas realized that Beatrice’s "fan" was actually Titus Zane.
Seeing Nathan pulling Titus to sit beside him, Nicholas didn’t think much of it. They sat for a while longer in the room, and Evander took out his phone to call Felix Shaw.
Since bringing Mia Foster back, Felix had almost refused all gatherings, dedicating his free time to keeping Mia pressed on the bed, trying to make up for the last three years.
The brothers arranged a poker night at the Shang Mu Club. Felix asked for their current location, saying he’d be there soon.
In front of the KTV, after Felix and Mia arrived, they all drove to the club. While the men played poker, Beatrice and Titus chatted on the couch.
At that moment, in the Hargrave family villa, Hannah Hargrave paced back and forth in the hall, occasionally glancing at the time on her wrist.
It was nearly midnight; her parents had long since retired to their room to rest, leaving her waiting in the living room. Her father had said Beatrice was taken by Nicholas to meet a director, but it was already so late, and she hadn’t returned.
Standing in the living room, squinting in thought, Hannah picked up her phone and called Beatrice.
"Bea, is Nicholas with you?"
"Yes," Beatrice glanced in Nicholas’s direction, candidly replying.
"Oh, give him the phone."
Beatrice walked over to the poker table, handed the phone to Nicholas, and said with a hint of emotion, "Your lover’s on the phone."
Deep down, she knew Hannah’s intentions.
