Chapter 81 - 81: Good Job, Brat!

"Can you help me redo my bandages?" he added quickly.

Chantelle sat back in her soft chair, frowning. Her soulful eyes were full of resentment. She had just been thinking of a way to avoid him when his deep voice pulled her back.

There was something naturally captivating about his voice.

Now, with a hint of weakness, it was even harder to ignore him.

She wanted to act like she didn't hear him.

But with him towering at six foot two, there was no way to pretend he wasn't there.

"I'm just an amateur when it comes to medical skills, Mr. Wilson. If you're not feeling well, I suggest you go to Philip. There's nothing that man can't cure."

Chantelle closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh, trying to shake off her irritation. She was even kind enough to point him in another direction.

Daniel's mood soured when his plan didn't work. "He's on a business trip!"

"Business trip? But he was still here yesterday," she said, doubtful.

"Yeah, he left this morning. There's an international medical seminar, and he was eager to attend. Otherwise, why would I be bothering you?"

Daniel kept making things up, painting Philip as an ungrateful man who only cared about his career and abandoned his good friend.

"Really?" Chantelle was still doubtful but noticeably less tense.

"It's true! If he hadn't run off, I wouldn't be stuck here with no one to help me. Ashton is useless with his hands, and Rai is still at home..."

Hearing his explanation, she even started to feel a little sorry for him.

Daniel, on the other hand, was completely delighted. His lies slowly pulled her into his trap.

"Fine. I'll help you with your bandages." Chantelle sighed in defeat.

His endless nonsense had finally worn her down.

She frowned and gestured to the seat next to her.

Daniel, of course, didn't hesitate. He sat down right away and his fingers casually toyed the buttons of his shirt.

Noticing how weak he looked, Chantelle quickly went to find the first aid kit.

The lack of urgency left him in an unusually good mood.

He stretched out on the soft chair, completely comfortable, and waited for her to return.

Only the two of them were left in Western Hill Villa. Taking things slow made it even more enjoyable.

Just the thought of it brought a satisfied smile to his face.

But his moment was ruined by the sudden sound of the doorbell.

"Who dares to come here now?!"

His expression darkened instantly. His brows furrowed, and a cold glare flashed in his eyes.

Hearing the doorbell, Chantelle immediately tossed the first aid kit aside and rushed to the door. Her savior had arrived!

When she opened it, she found Ashton standing there, holding a huge luggage. His hands trembled as he clutched Kane's tiny hand, too.

"Auntie Chantelle, can I stay with you for two days? Daddy isn't home, and I really, really miss him!"

Before she could fully process who was at the door, she felt a small tug on her trousers.

Kane stood at her feet and his big eyes were filled with tears.

Anyone who saw his pitiful face would feel sorry for him.

But no one noticed his tiny fingers tapping against her leg in Morse code.

"Don't be scared, Mommy! I'll protect you!"

"I won't let that scumbag bully you!"

"Hurry! Pick me up! It's cold down here!"

Chantelle quickly understood his hidden message and sighed before lifting him into her arms.

The moment Kane stepped inside, his sharp eyes landed onto Daniel's unbuttoned shirt.

"Daddy! Why aren't you wearing a shirt?"

"Put it on! You'll get sick!"

"I'll be sad if you get sick!"

He exclaimed loudly.

Kane reluctantly wiggled out of his mother's arms, climbed onto the couch, and immediately started buttoning Daniel's shirt like a man on a mission. If he had the choice, he'd sew them shut!

"Rai!"

Daniel gritted his teeth, staring at his son, who had appeared out of nowhere. But there was nothing he could say.

Instead, he turned his frustration on Ashton.

"What are you doing here?"

He shot Ashton a sharp glare, obviously annoyed.

"Railer said he missed you, sir. Also... I brought you a few clothes and personal toiletries!"

Ashton looked pale, struggling to find his words.

"Don't blame Uncle Ashton, Daddy! I wanted to come!"

"I miss you! I want to be with you all the time!"

Kane saw Ashton nearly collapse from fear. Annoyed by his lack of courage, he sighed at his bad luck and quickly stepped in to defend him.

"Get up, Rai!"

"What's going on? Why are you crying all the time?"

Daniel looked down at his son, who was tugging at his trousers while wiping away tears and snot. He felt frustrated and had no outlet for his anger.

"He's just a kid. There's no point in getting mad at him."

Seeing Daniel on the verge of losing his patience, Chantelle pretended to be upset.

She scooped Kane back into her arms and gently tapped a secret code on his back.

"Good job, brat!"

"Haha! Of course! I'm a genius with a 200 IQ!"

Kane grinned, flashing his sharp teeth after his mother praised him. He looked full of confidence.

The only thing ruining his mood was his scumbag father. If Daniel weren't here, he could've taken a selfie and sent it to Chantelle as a souvenir.

Chantelle carried the boy inside and shut the door.

Daniel stood outside, and his eyes burned with rage as he looked at the shut door.

He wanted nothing more than to see Ashton dead at this point!

"Mommy, are you okay?! Did my scumbag father bully you?!"

"You're not allowed to lie to me!"

"If he did, hehe! I'll make sure he will have a bad time!"

Back in the room.

Kane grabbed Chantelle's hand and checked her carefully.

Worried, he leaned in and whispered to her.

Even a little troublemaker like him cared about his mother's safety!

She gently brushed his bangs aside. "Don't worry. He won't hurt me. Be good and stay here. Rai's room must not be found!"

"Huh? Why? I want to see Rai! I want to tell him we're brothers!"

Kane didn't expect to be blocked from the basement after just a few days away. He pouted, grumbling in protest.

"Rai isn't doing well. Don't disturb him, get it? If you disobey, I'll have Calvin get you a ticket and send you away!"
