Chapter 70 - 70: I’m Not Leaving!

Ruby and Kate had been waiting in the Wilson residence's living room for two hours, but Daniel hadn't shown up yet.

Ruby was becoming more and more sure that something was wrong. The servants were all busy and ignored them completely.

Also, nobody would talk to them, and they all looked at them strangely.

"Mom, something doesn't feel right. Why hasn't Daniel come yet? Do you think he's going to deny everything?"

"Does he think he can just ignore this and it will go away? Don't worry, we'll wait a bit longer." Ruby sensed trouble, but she also saw a chance. If they didn't seize the moment, Kate might never join the Wilson family.

Ruby was determined to have Daniel explain himself!

She couldn't sit still any longer. Just as she stood up to look for the butler, Mr. Charles came to her first, holding a set of clothes.

"I apologize for the wait, Mrs. Bently and Ms. Bently. Mr. Daniel asked me to prepare these clothes for Ms. Bently," Mr. Charles said very politely.

He nodded to the maid next to him, who handed Kate a white dress.

The dress was simple yet elegant, clearly expensive.

Kate's eyes lit up the moment she saw the dress. Daniel had personally prepared it for her! Did this mean her plan had finally worked?

In her mind, she was already the future mistress of the Wilson household. She imagined the status and respect that would soon be hers.

It was almost too good to be true!

"Oh my, what a beautiful dress! Daniel is so thoughtful!" Ruby beamed with excitement, unable to hold back her joy.

"Mr. Charles, where is Daniel? When can I see him?" Kate asked in a soft, shy voice.

Even though she was excited, she had to keep up the image of a refined and elegant lady.

She expected Mr. Charles to show her more respect now that she was practically Mrs. Wilson.

But to her surprise, the butler remained just as distant and formal as before, not even sparing her a second glance.

"Ms. Bently, after you've changed into the dress, you may return home. Consider it a gesture of courtesy from Mr. Daniel," Mr. Charles said calmly.

"What do you mean by that, Mr. Charles?" Kate asked and her smile instantly faded away.

"That's right! Why are you telling her to change and then leave? Are the Wilsons trying to avoid taking responsibility?" Ruby snapped sharply.

"Mr. Daniel has made it clear that he was not at the villa last night. Those were his exact words," Mr. Charles replied. "Ms. Bently is the one who knows best what really happened. However, since this incident occurred on the villa's property, we will provide whatever assistance she may need."

"Daniel wasn't here? What kind of nonsense is that? He was with me all night! How could I be mistaken about that?" Kate's face went pale.

Mr. Charles's words hit her like a thunderclap.

What kind of ridiculous excuse was that?

She and Daniel had spent the entire night together.

Was he trying to brush her off with this pathetic lie?

How dare he!

"I have delivered Mr. Daniel's message as requested, Mrs. Bently and Ms. Bently," Mr. Charles said politely. "He also hopes that the Bently family will consider its reputation and not involve the Wilson family any further." With a slight nod, he turned to leave.

Before he could go, Ruby lunged forward and grabbed his arm.

"Nonsense! Does Daniel Wilson think he can do as he pleases and expect Kate to stay silent? He must be dreaming! Tell him to come out here right now and explain himself, or I'm not leaving!"

Ruby grabbed Mr. Charles by the shirt, her eyes burning with rage.

He didn't react at all. Staying as calm as ever, he simply signaled for security.

The guards arrived and quickly escorted the mother and daughter out of the villa.

As Kate watched the doors shut in front of her, a deep sense of fear crept over her. She never thought Daniel, always so refined and proper, would treat her this way.

He always claimed to be a man of principle. How could he just throw her out like this?

She couldn't understand it, nor did she want to.

"Mom, what do I do now?" Kate wailed, dropping to the ground dramatically. "I gave everything to Daniel, and now he's cast me aside! I won't be marrying into the Wilson family anymore!"

"Kate, crying won't fix anything," Ruby said, surprisingly calm.

"Wh... what should I do then?" Kate's lips trembled as she looked at her mother in despair.

"He took advantage of you, Kate. He won't get away with it, and neither will his family," Ruby said, gritting her teeth.

She pulled Kate to her feet and led her to their parked car.

At the same time, she was already scrolling through her phone, searching for a contact.

Kate sat quietly in the passenger seat, looking pale and defeated.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed inside her purse.

Hoping it was Daniel finally responding, she quickly dug through her bag and pulled it out.

But instead of a message from him, she saw a Facebook headline that made her heart pound.

"Mom, look at this! What is this?!" Kate's hands trembled as she passed the phone to Ruby.

A photo of Chantelle Bently was trending on Facebook, along with a shocking headline.

That woman—how dare she?!

"What is this nonsense?!" Ruby snapped harshly. "Is Daniel just letting this rumor spread? Shouldn't you be the one making headlines about your engagement?" She didn't know the full story, but her instincts told her Chantelle Bently was involved.

Ruby wasn't about to let her or the Wilsons off the hook. Luckily, she knew how to use Facebook too.

Even though Chantelle had kicked Daniel out that morning, she couldn't stop thinking about last night.

The image of him standing in nothing but his briefs kept replaying in her mind, making her feel completely frustrated.

Kane had been in a great mood lately since he was spending more time with his mother.

After finishing his breakfast, he went over to chat with Chantelle. Seeing her looking lost in thought on the sofa, he brought her a cup of warm chocolate milk to cheer her up.
