Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 67 - : He Was Drugged
Chapter 67 - 67: He Was Drugged
Moments later, a black Rolls-Royce sped out through the rear exit.
Meanwhile, Kate had been sneaking around the Wilson residence and finally found a way inside.
She hid downstairs, watching as Daniel drank a glass of juice that had been drugged.
Moments later, he headed upstairs.
Kate felt a burst of excitement as it went according to plan. She had worried the plan might fail with so many people around, but he had fallen for it.
Now was her chance.
The drug would take effect in thirty minutes, so she had to move fast.
She carefully blended through the crowd and made her way to the study.
Standing before the door, her heart pounded with excitement.
Gripping the doorknob, she felt as if she was about to unlock a dream she had chased for a long time.
Just as she was about to turn the doorknob, someone wrapped his arms around her from behind.
The warmth of his embrace and the heat of his breath sent a shiver down her spine. She opened her mouth to speak but lost her voice.
Chantelle and Kane had followed Kate to the residence, but she vanished in an instant.
It was clear she had gone to find Daniel.
"Should we go upstairs and check?" Kane asked.
"It's better not to disturb anyone," Chantelle replied.
"That scumbag isn't just anyone. We can't just stand by while he marries my stepmom. If she treats me badly, no one will help me," Kane said.
Kane then put on an act, and Chantelle chose to go along to avoid making a scene. She couldn't deny that Kane was Daniel's son, and she didn't want Daniel to marry Kate either.
Kane led her upstairs.
When they reached the top, they saw Kate engaged in a tight embrace and kissed a man.
Chantelle quickly covered Kane's eyes.
The man lifted Kate into his arms and disappeared as soon as they were noticed.
Chantelle stood in shock while Kane looked confused.
"Mommy, since the bad woman likes someone else, does that mean she won't marry that scumbag?" Kane asked.
"It seems like it..." Chantelle replied.
"Yay! That's great! That scumbag's wealth will be mine in the future!" Kane cheered.
Chantelle was startled and quickly covered his mouth. "Keep it down..." she whispered.

Daniel arrived at the medical laboratory's intensive care unit on the 86th floor. Felix lay weakly in the hospital bed, tubes connected all over his body.

Philip and the medical team worked tirelessly to keep him alive. But at any moment, the Grim Reaper could take him away.
Felix's eyes were filled with urgency as he saw Daniel approach him.
"Mr. Turner, do you still recognize me?" Daniel asked.
Felix looked at him and gave a weak nod.
"Did Chantelle kill my grandpa?" Daniel continued.
Before entering the ward, Philip had told him to ask all his questions quickly as Felix was running out of time.
There was no room for hesitation.
"No..." Felix muttered.
"No? Are you saying it wasn't Chantelle?" Daniel asked.
Felix nodded again.
Daniel exhaled, relieved. But that relief quickly turned into a deep guilt. He had wrongly accused Chantelle all this time.
"Do you know who did it?"
Felix's body trembled, and his expression suddenly shifted. He seemed to remember something.
"Who was it?" Daniel leaned closer.
Felix opened his mouth. "It was..."
But before he could finish, his voice failed him.
The heart rate monitor let out a sharp, continuous beep as Felix flatlined.
Philip and the medical team rushed to revive him.
Daniel walked outside with his mind in turmoil.
It wasn't Chantelle, after all!
How is that possible?
The surveillance footage showed her face!
Was the footage fake?
Maybe it was erased because it wasn't real evidence.
Daniel's head throbbed as the thought consumed him.
Suddenly, a feverish heat spread through his body. Cold sweat covered his forehead, and his vision blurred. His legs moved on their own as he stumbled toward the exit.

Chantelle returned home after Kane fell asleep at the Wilson residence.
Something felt off. Daniel hadn't shown up at the banquet.
Did he find new clues?
She stretched, feeling exhausted.
A bath before bed seemed like a good idea. As she walked upstairs to her room, a shadow moved.
Before she could react, someone lunged at her, pinning her to the bed.
Chantelle was shocked. Just as she was about to push the person away, she heard a weak voice.
"Chantelle... I'm sorry..."
"Daniel?" she asked hesitantly.
It was his voice. He stood there, unmoving, looking intoxicated.
"Daniel, what are you doing in my room?" she said.
She was confused by his apology. She pushed him away and turned on the light.
When the room lit up, she saw Daniel clearly. He looked unwell as if he had a fever. His clothes were messy, as though he had fallen several times.
She didn't know what to do. "Daniel, wake up. I'll call Ashton to pick you up!" she said, thinking it was the best choice.
As she reached for her phone, Daniel grabbed it from her.
"Are you drunk or not?" she asked.
Suspicion crept into her mind—was Daniel faking it?
"Give me back my phone! Huh? Why do you feel so hot?" Chantelle said. Her hand accidentally brushed against Daniel's forehead as she reached for her phone.
She placed her hand there again to check him. He was burning up.
"How did you get a fever from drinking?" she muttered. "I'll get some medicine for you since it's your son's birthday."
Just as she turned to leave, Daniel grabbed her and kissed her forcefully.
Something felt wrong. As she struggled to break free, her hand quickly grabbed the vase by the bedside. Without a second thought, she struck him on the head.
Daniel collapsed instantly.
Chantelle had held back to avoid seriously hurting him. She shoved him off her with all her strength.
Gasping for air, she took deep breaths to calm herself.
Chantelle checked Daniel's pulse to make sure he was still alive. That's when she realized—he had been drugged.
If the substance wasn't expelled properly from his body, it could harm him.
She dragged him into the bathroom without wasting time and placed him in the bathtub. She turned on the cold water and added some ice cubes.
Even though she was just watching, she could almost feel the freezing temperature. But this was the only way to bring his body back to normal.
Chantelle glanced at Daniel's toned chest as he unbuttoned his shirt. It was impressive that he had maintained his physique over the years.
