Chapter 64 - 64: Selling Off Her Daughter

"Got it! I'll make sure it's delivered!"

As Chantelle gave her instructions, Calvin's car pulled up at the entrance.

Thea walked Chantelle to the car and watched as it drove away before heading back inside.

"Is she gone?"

"Oh, Mr. Wilson! You scared me by sneaking up like that!" Thea clutched her chest, looking both nervous and guilty. Her face turned pale.

She hadn't expected Daniel to show up.

More importantly, he already knew Chantelle's true identity.

Chantelle arrived before Thea could question him. Then, to her surprise, Daniel asked her to hide him.

The whole situation left her confused.

"You still haven't answered my question. Why do Chantelle and Kate hate each other?" Instead of reacting to her shock, Daniel asked his own question.

Thea pouted her lips and said, "What could it be? It's the anger of having her husband taken and the death of Wesley Wilson. But I don't think it's just about that. You heard her yourself—Chantie isn't interested in you anymore. Wesley Wilson has been gone for years, and all this time, you've chose the person who is responsible for his death. It doesn't matter what anyone says—it's pointless."

"Did she tell you that?" Daniel's eyes turned cold as he stared at Thea.

Thea swallowed hard as Daniel's mood darkened, but she gathered her courage and kept talking.

"Mr. Wilson, you already had Chantie killed. No matter how much resentment or misunderstanding there was, shouldn't it have faded by now? Can't you just let her go?"

"I had her killed?" A flicker of panic crossed Daniel's eyes.

"Isn't that the truth? Mr. Wilson, have you ever thought that if you one day find out Chantie wasn't the one who killed Wesley Wilson, would you give your life to her?"

On the surface, Thea looked calm, but deep inside she was trembling nervously.

He was Mr. Wilson, the living devil of Easthan!

She would be lying if she said she wasn't afraid. But for Chantie, she chose to ignore the danger.

The Wilson family had always been ruthless.

"Is she really not the murderer?" Daniel muttered in a low voice.

It sounded like he was speaking to Thea, but it was more like he was questioning himself.

Did she feel so betrayed by him that she couldn't hold on to their happy memories from the past? Did she no longer want them at all?

Daniel's expression grew darker.

Thea hesitated to say more, sensing the heavy tension surrounding him.

To distract herself from the tense atmosphere, she carefully wrapped the child-sized outfit Chantelle had just checked.

"The outfit is ready. It's Chantie's birthday gift for Railer. Please accept it."

Since Daniel remained silent, Thea took the chance to send him off.

"This outfit looks like the one Chantelle took. Is it part of a set?"

"Mr. Wilson, you have a sharp eye. Yes, it is a set."

"Make one for me too."

"Huh?"

"The same set."

"Mr. Wilson, are you planning to wear it to Railer's birthday party? It's a bit late..."

"Name your price. I'll send someone to pick it up tomorrow."

"Why are you doing this, Mr. Wilson? Do you still have feelings for Chantie?"

Thea suddenly realized something disturbing.

She couldn't believe how absurd it was!

"What about the wedding gown?"

Thea's eyes lit up as she glanced at Daniel, who looked serious.

Unbelievable. So this is what it feels like to become rich overnight!

"Come on, Mr. Wilson. Let me show you and explain everything!"

After the Bently family's home was destroyed, Roman moved into his apartment in the city.

The apartment was small, but he had no choice during desperate times.

Investors were furious that the Shallow Bay project had stalled. They had already sent two emails warning that if construction didn't start by the end of the month, the Bently family would be taken to court. Not only would the project collapse, but he would also be liable for a penalty ten times the original amount. There was no way he could afford that.

Everyone in Easthan's business world knew that the Bently family had lost their biggest supporter—the Wilson family.

On top of that, no one else was willing to help him.

The only option left was to seek help from Daniel's biggest rival.

However...

Although the other party had replied to his email, their demands were too high. He needed to act fast while the opportunity was still there. But he wasn't ready to give up so easily.

His only real asset was his daughter, Kate, who had been raised like a princess. She had beauty and fair skin—now was the time for her to be useful.

Just as Roman was thinking about it, Kate walked through the door.

"Why did you call me here, Mr. Bently?"

Kate stood in front of Roman without a trace of respect. She still remembered how he had thrown her out that day.

Her cold expression irritated Roman, but he forced himself to stay calm.

"Since when does a father and daughter hold a lifelong grudge? And why are you calling me Mr. Bently? Come closer. Let me see if your face has healed. It looks worse than before. Has your mother been treating you badly?"

"If you have something to say, Dad, just say it. I have work to do."

Kate wasn't fooled by his words. She doubted his sudden concern.

Just showing up here was already a sign of respect for Roman.

"Fine, I'll get straight to the point. I've arranged a marriage for you. It's with the Lowe family's second son. Get ready and have dinner with Jerry tonight."

"Jerry Lowe? That overweight guy? You want me to go on a date with him? Dad, have you lost your mind?"

"He may be a little fat, but do you really think you're better than others? Your scandals are everywhere. If he's willing to have dinner with you, that's already a favor to me. You should be grateful!"

"Grateful? Roman Bently, are you marrying me off or selling me? What kind of deal did you make with the Lowes to sink this low?"

"Shut up! What nonsense are you spouting? Do you still think you can marry into a wealthy family with your reputation? Stop dreaming. You should be grateful if Jerry is even willing to have you as his wife!"

"Keep your so-called good luck to yourself!"

"You ungrateful girl! Stop right there!"

"Roman Bently, I'm not as foolish as Chantelle. You sold her for money. Now you want to sell me? Keep dreaming!"
