Chapter 60 - 60: Be Careful

Calvin drove while Chantelle used a tablet to look at the marked locations on the map.

The area around the Fourth Ring Bridge was crowded, and the transportation wasn't great.

Why had they chosen to meet there?

Chantelle was puzzled, so she expanded the search area and kept filtering through possible locations.

"Since she's shown up, have you found her address?"

If Felix's daughter was staying in Easthan, she must have hidden somewhere. As long as she was here, there would be clues.

Chantelle needed to be ready in case she tried to escape again.

"I haven't found it. She even used a new phone number to contact Mr. Wilson this time."

"Could she be that careful?"

"Ms. Chantelle, do you think something's wrong?"

"I'm not sure, but something feels off." Chantelle furrowed her brows, deep in thought.

The commercial street near the Fourth Ring Bridge would be packed around 3:00 PM.

Chantelle and Calvin saw the area was crowded, so they decided to split up.

It was a huge place, and finding someone with so little information felt like searching for a needle in a haystack.

The only thing Chantelle knew was that this woman always wore a red scarf.

Standing under the sun, Chantelle felt something was wrong.

At that moment, Calvin's voice came through the earphone.

"Ms. Chantelle, the target is at nine o'clock!"

Chantelle turned to look in that direction. Under a banyan tree, a woman wearing a face mask looked around nervously. The red scarf she wore was the signal to meet Daniel!

"Be careful, don't let her escape!"

Chantelle quickly walked toward the banyan tree, giving orders as she went.

If this woman was really Felix's daughter, Chantelle needed to get the truth from her.

Though Chantelle wasn't certain of the woman's identity, she felt a growing sense of anticipation.

The woman under the tree kept checking the time, unaware of the danger coming in.

Before she knew it, Chantelle had already grabbed her shoulder!

"Ms. Turner, Daniel isn't coming, so why don't you tell me what you want to say?"

"You? Who are you? I don't know what you're talking about!"

The woman's voice was sharp, and she stared at Chantelle with hostility.

Arguing in a busy pedestrian street would only draw attention. Plus, Daniel was probably on his way.

"Ms. Turner, I just have a few questions. I won't hurt you, so... please forgive me!"

"Screech!"

After a sharp turn, their car quickly stopped nearby. Chantelle moved fast, grabbing the woman and pulling her into the car.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" The woman shouted. As she looked at Chantelle, something about her seemed familiar.

No!

The woman suddenly smiled smugly and threw something toward Chantelle.

"Dodge!"

A loud noise rang out as a smoke bomb exploded, blurring Calvin's vision.

"Ms. Chantelle!"

Calvin shouted into his earphones, but all he heard next was a series of white noises before the earphones went silent.

It was clear now that the woman wasn't Felix's daughter.

They had fallen into a trap!

The woman had used the smoke bomb to make her escape.

Chantelle followed the sound and caught up with the woman in an underground passage. She quickly pinned her to the ground.

"Who sent you?!"

The woman seemed to know some martial arts, but she didn't get a chance to use her skills against Chantelle.

"It's me."

A low voice echoed through the passage, sending chills down Chantelle's spine.

Was it Daniel?

Daniel wore a custom-made black trench coat that day. He walked down the stairs into the dark underground passage, looking like a powerful king.

"Let her go. You know she isn't Felix's daughter."

Chantelle released the woman and walked toward Daniel with graceful steps. She placed her hand on his chest.

"Mr. Wilson, why go through all this trouble to see me if you're not interested? You shouldn't play hard to get too much, okay?"

Chantelle softened her tone and a charming smile spread across her delicate face.

Daniel looked at her and sneered. In an instant, he reached out and grabbed the hand she had placed on his chest.

"Ms. Chantelle, I can't help it if you insist on thinking that way. But please explain why you're looking for Felix's daughter."

Daniel tightened his grip on her hand and pulled her closer.

"Mr. Wilson, I'm afraid this doesn't concern you," Chantelle replied, trying to pull away.

But Daniel's strength was too much, making it hard for her to break free.

As Chantelle struggled, Daniel wrapped his arms around her waist.

Chantelle really wanted to hit him!

"Daniel, let go!"

"What if I don't?"

"In that case, why don't you carry me back? I'm tired from walking, and my leg hurts!" Chantelle wanted to throw a fit, but she was frustrated seeing Daniel's smug smile.

She then instantly wrapped her arms around his neck and prepared to jump into his arms.

As expected, Daniel pushed her away and stepped back in disgust, pulling away from her.

Chantelle's arm hit the wall, and she nearly cried out in pain.

The fight with the woman earlier had already made her wound flare up, and the collision made it even worse.

Meeting Daniel, this bastard, never brought any good!

"How boring. I thought you actually liked me, Mr. Wilson. Forget it. I'll walk back by myself!" Chantelle's arm throbbed in pain, and she was covered in sweat.

Chantelle pushed through the pain and decided to leave as quickly as possible.

"Wait! You haven't answered my question." Daniel's cold voice came from behind her.

Chantelle paused and turned to face him, but she didn't answer.

"Then why are you looking for Felix's daughter? I heard Felix was Wesley's special assistant. Mr. Wilson, could it be that you're planning to find that loyal servant to send off Wesley?"

"How did you know Felix was Grandpa's assistant?" Daniel asked in a sharp voice.

There were two types of assistants in the Wilson family.

One was the regular assistant to the president, like Ashton.

The other was the secret assistants, who acted like hidden guards.

Their identities were never made public. Only core members of the Wilson family knew who they were.

Wesley had favored Chantelle, so she knew about it.

Daniel was clearly testing her by asking.

"Because I'm Chantelle!"
